Handing Assad the Upper Hand

September 13th, 2013 - 9:59 am

How the heck did this happen:

Not long ago, President Bashar al-Assad of Syria seemed a remote and embattled figure, with the United States threatening airstrikes and other Arab leaders denouncing him for having used chemical weapons against his own people.

Yet in recent days, he appears, paradoxically, to have turned the crisis to his advantage, making clear to a global television audience that he aims to use President Obama’s own “red line” against him.

For the answer, go back and read that Krauthammer piece in the previous post.

The plan is coming together. He has fundamentally transformed America into something less than he inherited. Let's see, virtually no economic recovery, labor participation rate at an all time low, declining academic achievement, diminished American standing in the world, geometrically expanding debt, loss of historical allies, disproportionate gay and lesbian appointees (no not homophobic, just saying..), destruction of our once great medical care, tragic increase in food stamps, racial animosity increasing, reducing military readiness, and on and on. Yes the fundamental transformation from great to less is well underway. You must admit he did what he said he would.
