Hope You Like Your Little Tiny Tent
What Roger said:
I cannot speak for PJM as of yet — it’s the weekend and I’m in a ferry queue in Seattle — but I had to speak out personally in immediate support of my friend Andrew Breitbart regarding GOProud. I too will not be attending CPAC next year unless the ban of this organization is lifted. Frankly I am appalled by the decision of CPAC’s new management and I hope they will rescind as soon as possible. If they don’t, I won’t be there. I urge others to deliver the same message.
I stand with GOProud, too. CPAC’s decision — and they’ve been toying with giving GOProud the boot for a year or two — smacks of simple bigotry.
Shame on them.
UPDATE: Charlie Martin adds his support, too. Good on ya, my friend.

Free markets, free people — that’s how Republicans expand the party. But no, the Socons, like liberals, become God’s knights, using government as a sword, not a shield, to get what they want.
Look in the mirror, homophobes. There you’ll see California legislators forcing folk to be fair and moral by teaching the accomplishments of gays and lesbians in grade school. It’s what God wants.
Oh, and if you’re gay? Michelle Bachmann is from the government and she’s here to help.
(half of this shamelessly cross-posted at Roger’s thread)
Socons want a nanny state just as much as the liberals do but with a different twist. And I despise the nanny state mindset. We are grownups and should be allowed to act as such. And I prefer to focus on the big picture and not get hung up in the little things. We can deal with any relevant social issues after we get Obama and friends out of office and clean up Washington and our state and local bureaucratic messes. I also believe Marriage should not be in the hands of the state.
I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding. CPAC means Conservative, not GOP. The GOP is not banning. CPAC is. It has nothing to do with the “big tent” idea. At best, Conservatives are, like GOProud, a subset of the GOP. At best. Lots of Conservatives, like me, are not part of the GOP. Do not conflate CPAC and the GOP.
This is not the Dem Party. The affiliated groups do not have to embrace one another. CPAC is right to exclude GOProud, because they are NOT Conservatives. And you, Mr. Green, are also not Conservative, being a libertarian. You will not be missed.
Just who the &*(^ do you think you are? What brain-dead, diseased pustule died and granted you the power to define conservatism? GOProud doesn’t agree with you. Here’s a newsflash: Neither does anyone else. Unless you’re a completely unthinking parrot (which, to be honest, is plausable) nobody else on the planet shares your views on all the issues.
Do the species a favor and jump in the river. You will not be missed.
I did not conflate CPAC with the GOP. The headline was just an extra bit of nastiness, which I felt CPAC earned by being, well, nasty.
It’s good to know where GOProud stands with the largest and most influential conservative PAC, whose position is, “We’ll gladly take your money, but not your name.”
As for that “not being missed” comment, I can only conclude that you have chosen this moment to be even nastier than the new management at CPAC.
Nice.
The same anti-gay people on this forum have expressed their viewpoint (most of it honestly quite disgusting) on two other forums:

You will see the same arguments (if one can presume that calling gays deviants and perverts is an argument) on the other postings.
My hat is off to Stephen Green.
Thank you!
A “heads up” – the same anti-gay people who are arguing (if you assume that calling gays perverts and deviants is an argument) on this forum have presented their arguments on two other forums.
I recommend that you go there! And read some truly inspired and brilliant replies from conservatives who have already addressed these same arguments in spite of being savaged – and more than a little disgusted – by these folks.

My hat is off to Stephen Green and Simon.
Marc
I stand with Andrew, Stephen and Roger on this issue. Will we all “not be missed”?
I think that would be dismissing quite a number of voices that might otherwise be valuable in the defiance of leftist tyranny.
Would you like to dismiss PJM, Big Government, and commenters like me from vocalizing commonly shared principles and beliefs…even though, from time to time you and I have disagreed on some items?
Stephen, Roger and Andrew…in my opinion…are extraordinarily valuable. As is Glenn Reynolds, the guys at Hot Air, Powerline, Ace of Spades, Townhall, …Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt….not to mention Bill Whittle, Andrew Klavan, David Horowitz.
Would you feel that we all “would not be missed”, if we disagree on this issue?
Is that a mountain that the fight against leftist tyranny should die on?
Think about this Marc. You owe Stephen an apology, I think. He’s one of the good guys. And extremely valuable in the fight against leftist tyranny.
It seems to me that the political battlefield is changing from a left-right axis to statist vs small government. From what I’ve read of GOProud, they are small-government so I line up with them.
The greatest threat to liberty at this point is over-reach by our own government, done for our own good, of course. The House Judiciary Committee, Republican-majority, just voted out of committee HR1981, which would require Internet service providers to keep 12-month logs of customers’ names, credit card information, and other identifying information that are tied to temporarily assigned network addresses. These would be available to law enforcement without a warrant. It’s sponsored by Lamar Smith(R) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) and lobbied for by Holder’s Justice Dept.
I’d stand with anyone who stands against this.
Quite right, Laura. big government vs. small government is the real struggle and I don’t see much evidence that the social conservatives are on my side of the issue.
But unlike the big names declaring a boycott, I can offer Marc a compromise. I won’t be there and I won’t be missed.
Children need to know about anal sex just in case it is the right life style for them. If this statement bothers you then you might have a glimmer why CPAC has a problem with GOProud’s open participation.
I can’t find any statement by GOProud pro or con on that stupid statist California legislation, but I’d like to see them condemn it.
Sorry, I went too far with that last statement “lust-filled, sex obsessed mind of a bigot.” It might be true that most anti-gay (esp. Christians) obsess about gay sex (not about love or loyalty etc) but my saying so in such a manner wasn’t my best.
a whisper to the (sincerely) articulate and brilliant arhooley …
Anti-gays see “SEX” everywhere.
It’s kinda creepy …. it’s a pornographic mindset … which if you think about it, is titillating for them (oops I went too far?)
So then, anything having to do with “homosexuality,” including something in a school program that teaches something about same-gender parents is ….
…. ABOUT SEX!!!!!!
which, of course it isn’t.
not to say I agree or disagree with the Calif legislation, as I have no idea what it’s about but I’m darn sure it’s NOT ABOUT ANAL SEX (except in the lust-filled, sex-obsessed mind of a bigot)
I prefer to group people, politicians and other organizations into two groups. There are meddlers and then there are those that mind thier own beeswax.
Atta boys Steve and Charlie! You’ve got the support of some Tea Party folk in Colorado.
