I’ve seen a lot of searches in my activity log for those color WWI photos I linked to a while back. If you’re still looking, here’s the link again.
UPDATE: Sorry, but it looks like Big D and Bubba took down the pictures. A shame, too.
The link doesn’t seem to work for me…
here’s another link, but they jpgs are all on the same page, so it will take awhile on dialup…
Stephen’s original posting on this prompted me to look around the net for more older photos in color. Here’s what I found:
Russian pics – early 20th century
WWII Color and more
and some more
WWI in color (almost all are drawings though.)
I also found a link to some pictures of Chicago in color from the 1940′s. They were amazing but the link no longer works, but they must be on the forum somewhere. If anyone finds them let me know.
Good job, Paul. I was about to post the Library of Congress link, too. I blogged about this photographic technique ages ago (shortly after the Mars Rovers landed early last year).
It’s interesting that modern space probes use essentially the same authochrome technology these days to send color photos back to Earth.
RE: World War I color photos
I saved them off to my hard drive some time ago. Click on my name to view them.
I saved them all to my hard drive, Stephen, and I can email them to you if you like.
