Just in case anyone actually thought that all of those people waving flags on the streets of Kiev represent authentic Ukrainian sentiments, the London Guardian informed its readers otherwise last week. In an article titled “US campaign behind the turmoil in Kiev,” the newspaper described the events of the past 10 days as “an American creation, a sophisticated and brilliantly conceived exercise in western branding and mass marketing.” In a separate article, the same paper described the whole episode as a “postmodern coup d’etat” and a “CIA-sponsored third world uprising of cold war days, adapted to post-Soviet conditions.”
I’ve been out of the loop for a while, so tell me – is this old news already? Outrageous, regardless.
Is it old news that the Guardian just makes shit up? Yes, I’m afraid that particular piece of just-breaking has already made the rounds.

Yeah, there’s no way that those Ukrainians would want freedom or honest elections without CIA funding. What a dirty trick, sponsoring a non-violent mass uprising to overthrow a corrupt dicatator.

Wow, Porter Goss has been on the job for what, a month? And he’s already got the CIA geared up to take on Putin and the Russians, and mobilize a few hundred thousand protestors in Ukraine?

Either the Bush Administration has been wildly successful in reforming the CIA, or the WaPo is shooting bull on a story they have underjournalized to a negligent degree.

New vote in Ukraine!! Change the orange to red, and we again have the red states against the blue states!! The red states are gonna win!
This exemplifies the international Left at its very best: An election corrupted by imperialistic Russia is just fine, but spontaneous protests by aggrieved citizens and voters is a plot by America to install a puppet government. People say that this latest epiode just shows how deep anti-Americanism runs in the Left. THey’re missing an essential point: they may hate us but they love foreign authoriatarian regimes at least equally as much.
