When I saw the blog title — “The Right Side of the Rainbow” — in my referral logs, I assumed the worst. Then I loaded up the page and found, “a right-of-center, gun-owning, gay Texan.”
Well, how could even a straight man resist that?

I am an American and a veteran. I am not a liberal or a conservative, for I do not rely on labels but prefer to exercise my mind.
Bud, you should consider that your statements do sound smug and sanctimonius as in “America right or wrong”. Your views represent only one view, the American popular view and unfortunately that’s all.
Use your mind to think critically and not to repeat what you’ve been told or heard in a country song. You will serve our nation better if you do. Our country has its own past which includes genocide for land, slavery and military support for iron fisted leaders willing to make deals that were in our economic interests. Meanwhile we continue to pollute the planet, deplete resources and rip giant holes in the ozone layer totally out of proportion to our size. Read the books man, because these are facts.
All said, we can’t live in the past. Look to the future man. Imagine if your children or their children could live in a decent world where a fair government comprised of all the world’s people, repected basic human rights and fostered peace. This is the future we should all encourage. America and all nations would do best to make this a reality and stop acting like they or any one nation can be world’s only hope. President Bush and countless greiving mothers are finding this out … the hard way. Kennedy put it best. “Man must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind.”

Even though it was easy to loose my place and track of thought you took the words right out of my mouth- and more. I rescently separated from the military, but my husband is still in, and of course, I didn’t take the military seriously until 9/11. At that point I realized what I was in for, to uphold our freedom. The thing is that after almost 2 years now we are still battling terrorism. Why is that? I asked myself. I’ve had myself and friends come and go overseas, send pictures back, and felt for a bit that we were making progress. I even seem to recall some media coverage of Bush on a battleship speaking to the Navy troops with a big sign behind him that said, “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”. Alright, I thought, that’s that. But we’re still over there, fighting terrorism. Terrorism, meaning terrorists, meaning not military, meaning no rules of engagement. Hmmm? How the hell are we going to find and kill all terrorists if we can’t identify them? If all the Iraqi boys are at the age where they are so brainwashed, they don’t know right from wrong they’re all going to be terrorists, are we going to kill them all? No. There is no end to this conflict. The only way to “win” is to kill everyone in their country, and that’s not going to happen. So I got out because I feel that America, sorry, the President, has lost sight of what we’re about and I don’t want to say I was apart of what’s happening now. Also, I thought we were fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, and searching for WMD in Iraq? Didn’t find any. All I can figure is that the Bush Admin. knew something we didn’t. But they (the troops) are doing their duty. Yes, Nick Berg was warned, and it doen’t give them the right to behead him and post a video of it, but they aren’t posting a video of everyone they “murder” so why is this one so different? I don’t think it’s very cool that everyone is becoming puppets for the media. Everyone just needs to take a chill pill, and let America do what it’s known for being so good at- being number 1, if it’s not to late. Oh, and just so everyone knows, unless your with the majority, put up, shut up, or get the F@$&! out!
It seems people on this site are either for the war or against. I hear everyone say, lets A-bomb those savages…if you think that way, what makes you less of a savage for doing that. And you might think…why do some people hate America??

Yes you are white…and know you are an American…but Americans are not the only people in the world…how many countries have you lived in, how far have you traveled…Belive it or not, people live the same as YOU, just in different ways… Instead of church (which you don’t like to go to anyway) some people go to moskes and belive it or not (not all of them love to go either) You have a brother and a sister…so does Akmed,
How do you react when you are hurt?? You fight back, 911 right!!….Read the bible…and I tell you, you are a much stronger person if you don’t fight back and remain peacefull…It takes alot more courage not to fight and take a beating, than to do the beating. Ask any returning GI thats been in combat in Iraq and ask him if he want to keep fighting…No would be the answer.
If you never want to see the end…Keep fighting and see where it takes YOU and America. Admit to peace…and Die at Home for a real cause, and you won’t die in Vain.
I don’t want anyone in this world to die early…but its a fact of life. I don’t want a US soilder to die any more than I want a Iraqi insegent to die. Its not whos doing the killing its the killing its self.
Put your self in other people shoes, not just in this country but anywhere in the world, and as you see the similarites, the differences break apart.

Nick berg is not the only person to die herendiously in Iraq, His death was only video taped…If there was a camera for every death in Iraq that wasn’t American, could you handle it?? Or is it only when one of your KIND dies to you feel sorrow??

I’VE GOT AN SPLENDID IDEA. HOW ‘BOUT WE ALL GATHER AT THE LOCAL MILATARY AIRFORCE BASE AND GO TO IRAQ AND SHOW ‘EM WHAT’S FOR. HELL, FROM ALL THE JOWL FLAPPIN’, I’D THINK I WAS LISTENING TO NIXON.

The Japanese did the same thing (beheading) during the Battan Death March. Beheading was the slant-eyed way those MILITARY COCKSUCKERS dealt with not only those found “guilty” by a ‘jap court’ but to the ill and injured also. How many times per year do WE buy items “made in Japan”? How about China? That tank in the square with the student at the barrel … and we still deal with these facist pigs. But not Castro! Wjen if ever will the US pull it’s head from it’s ass? I say we get the fuck out and now!

I use to play football. I was told by a coach where to go and what to do, it was my job. I never had a say in the plays, i never had a say in the”game plan”. If i had ever second guessed the coaches plans it would have been lap, after lap, after lap. I was told where to go and what to do, it was my job. we ALWAYS WON
Now, thinking back to those years i understand why… I always felt a sense of team. I always knew i was part of the team and wanted the team to win. the only reason i did what i did was it was my job..and that , i knew, helped the team. Everyone else had a job and they did theres, they never second guessed the plan(if they even knew it) that was for the coach to do. we ALWAYS WON
I am no longer a player, my job has changed. I coach. I dont ask the rest of my team what plays to run. I give them they’re job (run, punt,pass,block) then i do my job …coach. If any of my players ever second guessed my plan .. it would be lap, after lap ,after lap..WHY? because i still want to ALWAYS WIN.
I have had many talks with other coaches and other players. One coach told me it makes the team stronger if you let them have a say in the plan. hmmm? I Dont buy this..why? They dont always win!
You see when i am given the job to coach, I am left to make the plans and asign the jobs. If they are able to make these decisions then they should not be coach and I should be the player. I cant play and they have not yet shown they can plan.. so this is how the jobs lay out. It makes the team win, and we do ALWAYS WIN.
I remember thinking to myself as a young player “if I was coach i would have, or, maybe we should do it this way”. but always ended up letting the coach do his job and he let me do mine. WE ALWAYS WON.
You see for it to really be a team then we have to agree on something. For a sport thats easy.. we agree we all want to win. When we have arived at the reason for the team, then each person is given or recieves a job to best help the team reach that goal. Now the town we live in has but 1 school and there for only one team. Just because you live in this town doesn’t mean you are part of that team. You see, you have to have the same goal that the team has. There have been many young men and a few young women who have not had the same reason for being on the team and they never made it. They had great reasons to play but they were not our reasons. It may not be fair but they will never make our team. They have been able to even run faster, jump higher, etc.. doesn’t matter… they had no reason to be on our team. Some how thoe WE ALWAYS WIN. It may seem harsh but they can always move to a new town, or take up a differant sport.
For those in the USA.. We have a choice… You can either be part of the team or move to a new “school”. It doesnt matter to me were you go. I am conserned only about those on my team. I am A US Soldier, I have been given a job on this team… Fight for truth, justice and the “american” way. What ever our truth is, whatever our justice is, and what ever our way is. I did not make the plan, its not my job, but i will do my job and follow it. I will NEVER second guess the coach. Its his job to plan, its his job to hand out the asignment its my job to follow them.
I have not the time nor the “BALLS” to think for a second that i should be able to coach and play at the same time…..if i no longer can follow the plan but want to help the team then maybe someday i’ll be coach….BUT THATS NOT MY JOB NOW. Some one called me to do a job and i do it because the plan calls for it. I don’t even know, or care to know the plan…thats my presidents job… as soon as i start second guessing the coach i hurt the team.
YOU are all spectators of this plan, yet you are not only second guessing my job, but for god sakes the coaches job. ARE YOU THE COACH? ARE YOU EVEN IN THE PLAN. If not then who do you think you are to try to second guess either of us? You have to first deside if you agree with the reason for this team.. then you have to either join up for one of the jobs if you can ,or shut up and let the team do theres for you. You can not second guess us or you are not part of the team… you then are part of the enemy of the team.
WE are doing this to fight for our way of life. I believe that and so i am behind the team. If my team has a differant goal than you then fine… really it’s OK. Move to a differant team…. France is taking players I hear..You can not be on our team yet hurt our team by second guessing the coach or any of the people doing they’re job. If one of the players is not doing they’re job … trust me.. the coach will have someone take care of it. IN THE END….WE WILL ALWAYS WIN…our competitors may not like it, you may not like it, shit sometimes I know I don’t like it but the team will ALWAYS WIN!!! and i will always be part of this team. No More opinions on the coach.. No more talking about who’s doing there job corectly… Either you coach it, you do the job…. or you let us do these two things. IF you can’t then switch to a differant team… our team will even escort you if you would like.
To my friends…You know our enemy has figured this out and you can see there resolve still… Do you think it’s time to team up or..continue to hurt the team by second guessing the coach and the people on our team? What makes us win sooner? Either shut up, start cheering on the team..or start packing your bags…We live in the USA after all, you get to choose.
