Hillary Clinton today joked with an audience member who said he wanted to “strangle” Carly Fiorina.
Clinton was speaking in Derry, N.H., at a veterans townhall hosted by the Truman National Security Project.
A man seated in the second row was talking to Clinton about how Fiorina “says she’s a great CEO,” adding “every time I see her on TV I want to reach through and strangle her.”
Clinton laughed in response while holding on to her microphone.
“I know that doesn’t sound very nice,” the man said.
“I wouldn’t mess with you!” Hillary exclaimed wide-eyed, still laughing.
Republican National Committee press secretary Allison Moore said in a statement that Clinton and the Dems have “lost all credibility claiming to be a party that stands up for women.”
“Hillary Clinton routinely exhibits the worst kind of hypocrisy on women’s issues, whether it’s launching attacks on equal pay despite paying women less than men in her Senate office or her foundation’s acceptance of millions of dollars from foreign governments that oppress women’s rights,” Moore said. “It’s clear women just can’t count on Hillary Clinton to stand up for them. She should apologize immediately.”
The three Democrats left standing debate on Saturday in Iowa. After the last debate, Clinton accused Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) of sexism for noting that “all the shouting in the world” wouldn’t keep guns out of the hands of bad guys.
At the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Iowa that followed the Vegas debate, Clinton told the audience of Dems that she’s “been told to stop shouting about ending gun violence.”
“Well, I haven’t been shouting, but sometimes when a woman speaks out, some people think it’s shouting,” she said. “But I won’t be silenced, and I hope you won’t be either. How many more people have to die before we take action?”
Sanders said Clinton was “wrong,” and he’s “very proud” of his record on women’s issues.
“I certainly do not have a problem with women speaking out. And I think what the secretary is doing there is taking words and misapplying them,” he said.
