Obama Slams GOP for 'Talking Down America' (Video)

President Barack Obama is notoriously thin-skinned.

That’s why he assailed unnamed Republicans for “talking down America” at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Wednesday.

“In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible.”  Presidential candidates “don’t seem to offer many solutions for the disasters that they perceive, but they’re quick to tell you who to blame.”

He continued: “I’m here to say there’s nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world.”

Obama came into office promising to “fundamentally transform America,” which, as many have noted, you don’t do to something you love.  He went on a world-wide apology tour in 2009, for crying out loud. He has decried the Constitution, bitter clingers, American exceptionalism, American arrogance,  Christians on their “high horses,” etc., etc., etc.  — sounding to all the world like he was “talking down America.”

But Obama’s worked hard for seven years to fundamentally transform our flawed nation into something he can boast about.

He seemed to be responding to Trump’s controversial slogan, “Make America Great Again,” when he said, “America is great right now. America is winning right now.”

Honestly, I don’t know how anyone in their right mind could disagree with Trump’s slogan.

Under O, we’ve seen the United States workforce shrink while welfare benefits exploded. We’ve seen a complete collapse of racial relations, and a collapse of religious liberty. We’ve seen a collapse in the rule of law, and sky-rocketing crime rates. We’ve seen a foreign policy that has left the Middle East in tragic shambles. We’ve seen an expansion of government that has led to sky-rocketing debt. We’ve seen government corruption and political scandals on a scale that makes the Nixon and Clinton era corruptocrats look like pikers.

It should come as no surprise that not everyone appreciates Obama’s fundamentally transformed America.

But Obama seems to be, and he sees criticism of our once great nation as a personal insult. Well, he should take it as a personal insult.

As Victor Davis Hanson recently wrote at National Review, “the tragic mess of 2009–2016 is ending, and soon the cleanup will begin — accompanied by stupefaction as to just how much will have to be thrown away.”

The next president — Republican or Democrat — will have the heavy burden of undoing the colossal damage Obama has done to our country.
