Both Trump and McCain Refuse to Apologize for Their Insulting Remarks (Video)

Both Donald Trump and Senator John McCain have made insulting remarks towards Americans in recent days, and both refuse to apologize.

Bombastic GOP candidate Trump drew fire on Saturday when he told an audience in Iowa that McCain wasn’t a war hero because he was captured. He immediately softened his remarks, saying McCain was indeed a war hero because he was captured, but couldn’t resist a dig: “I like people that weren’t captured” — implying that POWs are “losers” (as he would say) because they allowed themselves to be captured.

Asked on ABC’s “This Week” if he felt like he owed McCain an apology, Trump said, “No, not at all” and proceeded to blast McCain for his lack of support for fellow veterans.

In an op-ed Monday, Trump remained defiant, pointing out that John McCain called supporters who attended his rally in Arizona “crazies.”

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, Monday, John McCain told the hosts that Trump owes POWs an apology.

“Well a great honor of my life was to serve in a company of heroes. I’m not a hero but those who are my senior ranking officers, people like Bud Day, Congressional Medal of Honor winner, those who inspire us to do things that we otherwise would not have been capable of doing. Those are the people who I think he owes an apology to.”

But when asked by Joe Scarborough if he regretted calling citizens in his own state “crazies,” McCain laughed it off.

“You know my state is a very dynamic and divisive state and we’ve got lots of arguments and lots of debates going on. I have hundreds of town hall meetings all over Arizona and I’m called crazy by the people who come there – I thought it was a term of endearment,” he chuckled.

“So no apology for that?” Scarborough pressed.

“Listen, I love the debate and I love my people,” McCain laughed. “I meant it a way — as a term of affection to be honest with you.”

So we are at an impasse. No apology from the bombastic GOP candidate, and no apology from the crotchety GOP senator.
