Last Friday, it was Air Force veteran Michelle Manhart who was the focus of attention at a Valdosta State University. The former Playboy model was briefly detained by campus police and banned from the premises after she grabbed an American flag away from a group of black radicals who were using it as a door mat. Now, one of the protesters is being sought by Valdosta police and is considered armed and dangerous after allegedly bringing a handgun on campus and making terrorist threats on social media..
VSU student Eric Sheppard Jr. became “the face of the anti-flag protest” after he was seen wrestling Manhart for Old Glory, and videotaped expressing his bizarre theories on race issues.
On Tuesday, the flag-stomping protests continued on campus and, according to VSU police, Sheppard was foolish enough to leave a backpack behind with a gun inside.
WCTV reported:
Arrest warrants were signed by a Lowndes County Judge charging Sheppard with bringing weapons in a school safety zone, which is a felony. Authorities say Sheppard is also being investigated by the FBI for possibly making Terroristic Threats on social media.
On Wednesday, several alarming videos surfaced of Sheppard telling VSU students on campus about his visceral hatred of white people and the need to “kill our oppressors.” He has been on the run since Tuesday and his parents are pleading for him to turn himself in.
“Son, you know we love you, and have always taught you to do the right thing and to make wise decisons. Please make the right decision and turn yourself in to either the authorities, or to me, and we will handle this together,” Eric Sheppard Sr. said, standing beside VSU President William McKinney.
“He has not done anything to outright hurt anybody, so I’m asking him and looking at cameras when I’m telling you, Eric, come on in. Your parents want you to come in. We want you to come in. Come talk to us. Come talk to the police. We’ll get this sorted out,” said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress at the scene.
Valdosta police warn that Sheppard is considered armed and dangerous. “If you see Eric Sheppard, dial 911.”
