Will President Obama go, too?

Obama is in Knoxville, Tenn., today to announce a manufacturing innovation hub. On Monday, he’s scheduled to welcome the San Antonio Spurs to the White House.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters on board Air Force One that “the president was updated this morning” on the unfolding situation in France. Agence France-Presse is now reporting five are dead in the siege of a kosher market in Paris, including a gunman said to be connected to the brothers who attacked Charlie Hebdo this week. Cherif and Said Kouachi were killed north of Paris in a standoff with police.

Schultz said France was extensively discussed in the president’s daily briefing, according to the White House pool report, adding that national security officials have been in touch with their French counterparts on a “minute by minute” basis.

The spokesman said he didn’t know if Obama was watching live updates on the crisis.
