You're In for a Treat, America: Meet Brian Lilley

There are a lot of jerks in the media.

Yes, even in the “conservative” media. (Don’t get me started…)

If you’ve never heard of him before, that’s because you aren’t Canadian. As I predicted he would be when the “right-wing” alternative channel, Sun News, hit the airwaves up here a few years ago, Brian Lilley is the network’s breakout star.

I guess I’m biased. Like me, Lilley is a Catholic working class kid from my hometown (the Pittsburgh of Canada).

What you see is what you get.

And now you’ll get to see him — or, more accurately, hear him — when he guest hosts for Glenn Beck this morning.

He wrote to his newsletter readers this morning:

Let’s face it, for a broadcaster this is getting called up to the major leagues, even if only for one game. I’m excited and nervous but I’m also feeling good knowing that so many of you will be cheering for me and listening in. Your response since we announced this has been one of overwhelming support.

Thank you for that.

Brian Lilley is one of the good guys. So much so that his Canadian-ness might take a tiny bit of getting used to — don’t expect any false bravado, bombast or blowhard-iness.

But as far as passion and principle are concerned, he’s got them to spare.
