Impeachment is the constitutional remedy for public officials including presidents who break the law. For the remainder of Obama’s time in office, though, impeachment may as well have been written out of the Constitution.

House Speaker John Boehner has been maneuvered into taking impeachment out of the U.S. system of governance by Obama’s scamming campaign tactics, along with a hyperpartisan media, today.

Talk of impeachment was cooked up by a White House desperate for something to rally Democrats ahead of November’s elections, House Speaker John A. Boehner said Tuesday, flatly ruling out any action on the controversial suggestion.

“We have no plans to impeach the president. We have no future plans,” Mr. Beohner said. “Listen, it’s all a scam started by Democrats at the White House.”

Boehner is right; the Democrats are running a scam on the American people.

To be clear, there are no Republicans in leadership positions who are seriously considering impeaching President Obama. It’s not on the agenda. To be clear again, the percentage of Americans who now want to impeach Obama is about the same percentage of Americans who wanted to impeach President George W. Bush, and President Bill Clinton before him. There is always a minority out there who dislikes the current president so badly that they want him kicked out. Clinton was impeached, of course, but he beat the rap despite the fact that he did lie under oath and he did suborn the perjury of others. His actions later led to him being disbarred by the United States Supreme Court.

Obama’s crimes against the rule of law are arguably more serious than Clinton’s. Whether Obama deserves impeachment isn’t just a legal question, it’s also a political question. Obama has broken laws or essentially re-written laws without Congress several times, and on immigration he is threatening to do so again and may legalize as many as 5 million who are in the country illegally. He does not have the power to do what he is doing, as he publicly admitted himself more than once. Yet he intends to act anyway, in full knowledge and awareness both that his act is illegal, and that it will provoke and divide the nation. He wants to be provocative, and he wants to be seen as rewarding people who support him and shore up his support on the left while dividing and beating his opposition. If America still lived by the letter of the Constitution, and if we were not possessed of the racial and political divisions that beset us now, a case could be made for Obama’s impeachment.

But that’s not the world that we live in. We slipped off of the foundations of the Constitution a long time ago. The fact is, nearly half of the country still supports Obama and his policies including his lawlessness (to the extent that they even know about any of that), and the fact is, the politics of impeaching the nation’s first black president are so dire that they ought to force even Obama’s most ardent critics to think long and hard about the full implications of taking that step.

Impeachment vs Impairment.

Hobson's Choice. We either impeach a government that has declared war on half its citizens or we live with an impaired Constitution, permanently broken checks and balances and a propagandized information stream.

Obama is beyond reach. His palace guard in the Senate and quasi-state media won't do the job of protecting the People.

The third way...is to full throttle attack the operatives. They will plead the fifth. Stonewall. Destroy material evidence. Seek and receive pardons. Threaten whistleblowers. Have TASS and Pravda slander, smear and libel.

But they can't fight off Texas, Alabama, all the red state courts. Pound them with the rule book in the places where honor still matters. Don't make it about a direct assault on Obama. All the traitors who do his bidding are much more vulnerable. Dismantle his machine. Tear down the treason walls.

Win the placement on the chessboard first. The king topples last.

I am glad to see he has put it to rest, but wish he would do so in a way as to highlight the Democrats hypocrisy, something like this; "we couldn't pursue impeachment even if we wanted to because to do so with any chance of success would require something that does not exist - - Democrat Senators whose loyalty to the constitution is stronger than it is to their party".

As I have said before, smart Democrats would be truly eager to impeach and remove Obama (who has so richly earned it) - AFTER January 3.

Why?

Simple: it would elevate Biden to the Presidency for a full two years, but - and here's the key - not MORE than two years. A Biden taking office early in 2015 could conceivably serve ten years as President, eclipse Hillary and anyone else for the nominations, and ensure a Democrat would be in the White House until 2025.

I can't imagine that no Democrat has even thought of this and considered sabotaging his own or a buddy's Senatorial campaign to help it come about.

If I were a Dem, I'd be whispering it all over the Beltway.

Boehner must be really certain that 1) he's still going to be Speaker come January, and 2) that nobody will bring it up anyway. It's my understanding that even he can't obstruct a move to bring Articles of Impeachment to the floor.

Conquest's Law: To understand the behavior of an organization, imagine that is being run by a cabal of its worst enemies.

Robert Conquest, may I present to you: the Republican Party.

How to explain Boehner? Possibilities:

1. He's as stupid as M. Stanton Evans claimed the Republican Party is.
2. Puberty happened and somehow his male accoutrements never dropped.
3. Thanks to the NSA, Obama has something really good on him.
4. He's just another liberal Republican fifth columnist, who has to pretend during his campaigns that he's a conservative, but then quickly forgets.

Boehner is not new in history. It's like having your military run by Field Marshal Montgomery. He has the resources, but for some reason he prefers doing nothing. If General Grant were like Boehner, Richmond would be the capital of a foreign country. If Ronald Reagan were like Boehner, Gorbachev would have gone home with our magic briefcase and all the codes. If Annakin Skywalker were like Boehner, he would have died fighting an Emperor Penguin.

What's the secret to his keeping his position as Speaker?

Possibilities:

1. The House Republicans are as stupid as he is.
2. The House Republicans are as craven as he is.
3. Courtesy of the NSA, Boehner has something good on them.
4. The entire Republican Party is a fifth-column organization.

I might have left something out, but this is a good start toward understanding our predicament, I think.

No question he lives behind Door #4. That's his history. He's Bob "It's My Turn" Dole, with a tan.

Or maybe a combination of #3 and #4.

What kind of "man" spends that much time working on his tan?

I suppose that might relate to #2.

Leaving the threat of impeachment hovering over Obama and dogging his steps might have been useful. Why give up your weapons? Don't politicians know how to negotiate anymore? I need to play poker with Boehner. He'll go all in and then tell me he's holding a pair of twos.

Republicans should focus on winning the Senate this fall, and then use the censure process to get the evidence of Obama wrongdoing out in the public domain after the election. Debate separate censure resolutions for each major scandal and package the evidence in easily searchable form. The censure process does a better job of keeping the focus on the wrongdoing instead of the politics of removing an elected official. Bonus points if the censure debate happens to expose wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton too.

first since impeachment is a political tool, if the senate changes hands, and if public opinion about proposed immigration lawless reform occurs, and the media is forced to cover this. the opinion about impeachment could change.

And if public opinion shifts and the B.O.'s poll numbers drop when helped by the media, you might even get the media calling for impeachment.

Some good advice on proper tactics from Rick Wilson @ Ricochet:

"Congress should be devouring the bandwidth of the targeted agencies.  Flooding the zone with requests, constant depositions of senior leaders, a constant legal barrage of inquiry for every email, every piece of paper, everything, all the time.  Who cares if we use it? Torture them every minute of the day and force them to live in fear of contempt charges.  Make their execs lawyer up, and dig dig dig at every inconsistency.

Second, the power of the purse is entirely underutilized, and Congress as a rule has no creativity. Don’t cooperate? Zero out every executive bonus in the agency for a decade. Don’t cooperate? No more conferences, training seminars, trips. Don’t cooperate? No more drivers for senior execs. Don’t cooperate? Every construction project for every building your agency wants is zeroed. Don’t cooperate? We’re relocating 98% of your manpower to Omaha. Don’t cooperate? Zero out the public affairs budget. Don’t cooperate? Every program with ‘green’ ‘affirmative’ ‘equal opportunity’ ‘LGBT’ ‘diversity’ or ‘awareness’ is zeroed out.

Sure, it sounds petty, but the agency people we’re talking about are the most parochial, small-minded bureaucratic weasels, and their perks and powers are all they care about.  All it takes is a more bloody-minded approach."

It requires a desire to win and prevail over any means necessary Communists. Youre gonna have to get your hands dirty. Which is why we need staunch principled conservatives and not RINOs elected to office and put on the court benches.

I must once again enter some hard truths into the discussion. The GOP Establishment WANTS Obama to amnesty the invading illegals. They’re not going to impeach Obama for doing something they so desperately want to do themselves. In fact, they’re probably cheering him on behind closed doors. He can take the heat for unilaterally declaring the amnesty that the GOP Chamber of Commerce cronies are so desirous of whilst simultaneously allowing the GOP to serve up their very own “bait for the bubbas” by pretending to be opposed to the guy. For that matter, there’s no interest in taking Obama on over his various Obamacare shenanigans. GOP contributors are just biding their time and waiting for a few more seats in Congress so they can start sticking THEIR snouts into that particular trough in earnest. Boehner and company are similarly delighted at anything Obama does – no matter how extra-Constitutional – to keep that fiasco from taking on water.

I say we wait to discuss the philosophical and political ramifications of impeachment until such a time as when we have an actual opposition party.

That you say impeachment is impossible because of the color of Obama's skin is proof of a descent from which there is almost certainly no return.

the color of his skin, is your racist projection onto others, and ignores the lawlessness of this man to think that he can rewrite laws that the signed, and have no repercussions.

You missed his point, I think. He's saying that impeaching Obama is not possible because he is the Affirmative Action President. If we try to impeach him, it will be portrayed as being based purely in racism, and the public backlash will put the Democrats in total control of both Houses.
