President Barack Obama visits Texas later this week. As will also be the case when he visits Colorado this week, local Democrats will run from being photographed with him. Wendy Davis avoided being seen with the president the last time he visited the state.

The president is taking some heat for his decision not to visit the Texas-Mexico border while he is in Texas. That border is in chaos, thanks in no small part to Obama’s lax policies. A leaked DHS memo makes it clear that the Obama administration has slowed down deportations, and that policy is driving much of the surge in illegal crossings. More than 50,000 unaccompanied children have reportedly crossed into Texas over the past few months, and are currently being held in camps around the state and increasingly around the country. One Border Patrol agent has reportedly come down with scabies as a direct result of the illegal influx.

Rather than visit the border, the president is attending fundraisers with his wealthy backers, and one of those who will attend is raising eyebrows. The president is set to raise money for the Democratic Party with film director Robert Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is probably best known for the Spy Kids film series, but he has also directed a number of hyper-violent “grindhouse” exploitation films. President Obama routinely uses mass shootings to criticize Americans’ Second Amendment rights, but does not take on Hollywood for its violent movies that show guns and, in Rodriguez’s case, showcase violence as a means to exact revenge.

Robert Rodriguez directed one of 2010′s most controversial films, Machete. Here’s IMDB’s synopsis of its plot.

After being set-up and betrayed by the man who hired him to assassinate a Texas Senator, an ex-Federale launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.

The cartoonish Texas senator, played by Robert DeNiro, was targeted because he delivered speeches calling for more border security. In the same film, a Border Patrol agent played by Jessica Alba switches sides and becomes a violent immigration radical who screams “We didn’t cross the border! The border crossed us!”

Sure, if you lived in the American southwest and you’ve been alive for about 150 years, you could make the case that the border crossed you.

Eastwood's characters sought vengeance against genuine evildoers. Do you understand the distinction?

Perhaps after he leaves office, ex President Obama can get a part in the third Machete movie, "Machete Saves Los Ninos," set in Murrieta, California.

I'm sure Obama will do the right thing.
Sadly for this president, the right thing is attending a fundraiser where Jessica Alba kisses your ass all night while the rest of the country goes in the crapper.

Oh. I thought you were referring to Django. I saw the ending, and it reminded me of the original Chip and Dale cartoon (before the TV series). Or something from Animaniacs. Convinced me not to see Inglorious B-s.

I did once know someone who was crossed by the border. His ancestors lived in the Southwest, then migrated South. Eventually they made their way to the US (as legal immigrants, I presume). Of course, we are talking about the people who brought the Inquisition to the New World. There are still people in the American Southwest who do things like light candles Friday night, a remnant of the forcible conversion to Christianity of their ancestors.

I really did like Spy Kids (1 and 4, anyway), though.

Obama has his priorities. He never lets the "President" thing get in the way of picking up his loot.

oh, come on with the "violent revenge fantasy" crap. Most of Clint Eastwood's best movies were violent revenge fantasies.

Firefox was against a whole race of people / nation?

They were against the USSR not Russia.

I can take machete to be anti- American/ anti-U.S. / anti-me

The Dirty Harry movies were anti crime.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was a crime film.

Clint Eastwoods films are varied. They are not anti-Mexican, anti-American or anything like that

Machete is anti-American.

I'm talking about the link-bait headline, it's ridiculous. And in particular, many of Eastwood's most notable westerns could be categorized as "violent revenge fantasies", it's a trope as old as the Western itself. Really, who the revenge is "against" and their relative moral guilt is pretty subjective, and it's a movie after all. Jeez, in how many movies is an American the bad guy? You going to boycott all those? And I like almost all of Rodriguez' work (except Spy Kids, but hey, he's got a big family, he needs the dough I guess).

Hamlet was a violent revenge fantasy. So was much of Greek drama.

heck, the BIBLE itself is full of violent revenge fantasies. Samson. Noah. "Worship false idols and fornicate, will you? All right, I'm drowning the entire human race. Except that guy and his kids."

and Revelations:
"Jesus is back, and this time he's pissed."

Not always. A famous example, in Unforgiven he cold-bloodedly murders, for money, an innocent young cowhand who seems truly repentant for his by-stander role in some violence against a prostitute, then murders most of the men in an entire town for killing one of the perpetrators who happened to be his buddy! Who's evil here? Plus all the stuff they mention he did before, killing women and children and etc. Besides which, anyone who seeks revenge is an evildoer. "Vengeance is mine" sayeth the Lord.

We should start demanding reform in Mexico i.e. ending the government corruption, allowing the citizens to bear arms etc.

What would the leftist media ever say. There is a reason why these Mexicans want to come here, sorta the same reason why people want to leave Illinois only times 100.

Oh, absolutely.

We can even start with something simple like asking why U.S. citizens can't own property along the border: http://billlawrenceonline.com/brat-scares-amnesty-establishment/

Some years ago Mexico was quite vigilant in policing her Southern border to keep Central Americans out. Obviously that's no longer true, in fact, it would seem Mexico is now enabling them from Southern border to USA border.
Yet, I've seen no/nada/zero reports of reporters questioning State/DHS/WH spokespeople regarding what they're requiring Mexico to do to stem the tide.
Have I missed something?

They are still quite vigilant.

None of these "unaccompanied children" (Regressive-speak for "fresh meat for pedophiles") stopped in Mexico. It is though we had picked them up in El Paso, and shipped them straight to Toronto. And then told the "Canucks" where to stick it when they dared to complain.

The other day I suggested that we use the "Canada option", it is time they took on a little of the problem.
Of course Canada would probably ship the kids to Alaska. Alaska could then send them to Russia (wave to Sarah on your way out).

Next time Canada gets a Leftist government, we ought to do just that. But Harper is Gold with me.

Maybe we should drop them off in Quebec. "Press one for French, 2 for Spanish."
