As soon as the photograph of Soviet propaganda posters in Jay Carney’s kitchen hit the Internet, right-wing pundits began to draw conclusions about White House Press Secretary’s ideology, morals, and political leanings. It was as if things that a man merely places on his walls and looks at day after day can be any indication of his life choices.

If that were so, the meals in Carney’s kitchen would also probably match the menu of the place and time of the posters. His family would be living on a diet of beets, gruel, occasional rat, and thinly sliced boiled jackboots, which is what many Soviets ate at the time these posters were produced.

One poster was made in 1918, calling men to join the Red Army in the civil war against the anti-communist opposition, while the country lay in ruins due to the economic mismanagement as much as due to  intense fighting. The other poster was made during WWII, calling women to replace men at the factories, as the country lay in ruins, once again, due to intense fighting as much as due to the economic mismanagement.

The diet of the Carney family, however, does not include any of the food that the impoverished and starving Soviet people ate during the above wars. They eat more like the members of the Soviet Politburo and even better than that. They feast on fresh organic produce, succulent meat, delicious seafood, and tropical fruit delivered to the United States from all over the world. And as they enjoy the abundance of the American way of life in their kitchen, the Carneys like to stare at the two propaganda posters made for starving people. It never fails to improve their feeling of self-worth and digestion.

It is beyond imagination that anyone could misconstrue the Soviet agitprop in Jay Carney’s kitchen as an indication that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and his wife somehow share the same ideas as the perpetrators of a brutal regime that starved its own citizens while the political elites lived in luxury, abused power, prosecuted the opposition, and ruled the country by means of executive orders.

Next, they would claim that that a neat stack of Chairman Mao’s Little Red Books in Valery Jarrett’s bathroom is not there merely to serve as an elegant accent to complement the shower curtains;  or that the Black Panther Party insignia on Michelle Obama’s pajamas isn’t merely a bold decorative pattern; or that the black flag of holy Jihad in Huma Abedin’s bedroom is somehow indicative of her sympathies towards the Muslim Brotherhood.

Following such flawed right-wing logic, one might even speculate that Saul Alinsky’s books on Hillary Clinton’s living room mean anything other than an effort to disguise an obscure dried spot that had mysteriously appeared on the coffee table in the last year of her husband’s presidency.

We invite our readers to take virtual tours of America’s other prominent political and cultural leaders and see what potentially “compromising” items they may have in their houses, so that we can pre-emptively debunk any accusations and witch hunts, such as the one to which the unfortunate White House Press Secretary is exposed today.

Oleg Atbashian, a writer and graphic artist from the former USSR, is the author of Shakedown Socialism, of which David Horowitz said, "I hope everyone reads this book."  In 1994 he moved to the U.S. with the hope of living in a country ruled by reason and common sense, appreciative of its freedoms and prosperity. To his dismay, he discovered a nation deeply infected by the leftist disease of "progressivism" that was arresting true societal progress. Oleg is the creator of a satirical website ThePeoplesCube.com, which Rush Limbaugh described on his show as "a Stalinist version of The Onion."

These are not college kids. They are mature adults who've put up framed "artwork" in their kitchen, which is usually the heart of most homes.

Obama is nothing more than an overgrown far left anti-American academia twit. With a very big ego and very thin skin. Plus, he is 52 going on 22 in terms of emotional and intellectual maturity.

I went to school with guys like him. We were born within two months of each other and I went to schools of comparable prestige during comparable time frames. I had countless classmates, housemates, assistant professors, etc., who thought and talked more or less like Obama, to include a lily-white American History Ph.D candidate from Wisconsin housemate who might as well have had an "Obama chip" planted in his brain, on practiclcally any issue you can name (including being ferociously anti-Israel).

Except for his race and his public speaking abilities - and his singularly AMAZING ability to lie with a straight face - within the context of the academic environment from whence he came, there is nothing remarkable about Obama. Go to any liberal arts department of any major American university, and his kind are a dime a dozen.

In my generation, and probably those that followed (e.g., Jay Carney), these types were typically Soviet apologists (at least until the USSR collapsed, when they seamlessly morphed into Islamist apologists), they thought anything of a Soviet or Marxist flavor was "hip" or "cool", American rich white guy imperialism was to blame for ALL of the world's problems, and our support of Israel is THE root cause of ALL Moslem terrorism aimed at us.

Obama, being the immature thin-skinned shallow ideologue that he is, can only tolerate people around him who are as or more dim-witted than himself in all the same ways. What is depressing and scary is how many people of this ilk are being churned out by our "finest" schools, by the thousands, year after year, decade after decade. They are very easy to find, unfortunately. That they heavily populate our media, our national government bureacracy, and our academic institutions does not give one much hope for the future of this country.

But whatever these people are, they are NOT genuine "revolutionaries". These are not Maos, Lenins, Stalins, Castros, or Geuveras. Such latter genuine revolutionary leaders were monsters, but they were also very tough, hard individuals. The Jay Carneys of this world - along with the Obamas, the Powers, etc. - are little more than poseurs, no different than a crowd of twenty-something grad students sitting around coming up with outlandish ideas, exclaiming to one another, "Wouldn't it be cool if we did THIS??!!"

What a sad state our country has come to, that such types have risen to such positions of power and influence. What incredible decadence.

I would agree if we were talking about an office building or some other commercially neutral space. But a home - at least as most of us on the right understand the concept of home - is an intensely personal space. You hang artwork - photos - and treasures that either have direct personal meaning or that reflect your preferences. At our house, there tends to be lots of film industry memorabilia - but I think you could infer a great deal about my personality if I chose images from either "Kill Bill" or "Casablanca".

I don't think the Soviet propoganda posters indicate anything other than stupidity. The whole pic is so effing stupid and ridiculously staged, the Carneys should be horrifically embarrassed...if they were capable of shame.

You'll have to forgive us, Mr Atbashian, but DUH!!!!. In case you don't get this comment, and frankly I don't see how you can, given that you miss this obvious point, read on ...

Indication? You're damn right, pal. Yes, in fact it does. And if the thought of putting Soviet Communist propaganda posters on the wall of your kitchen doesn't horrify you, well then, you sir are in need of help.

You missed the whole point of that sarcastic, tongue in cheek statement, SIR ! And because it's so obvious, it kinda makes you look pretty foolish, brookriver, and in need of help with basic literary concepts.

Mr. Atbashian creates strawman arguments and thoroughly destroys them.

We did not need posters on the wall to tell us what beliefs Mr. Carney holds. The posters did not create a new view of Carney. They served as confirmation of what we already knew. Carney shares and serves Obama's Marxist-Socialist philosophy.

The diet strawman was an impressive stretch. Fact: Carney is among the favored few. Like all high ranking functionaries under Marxism and Socialism, including those who starved their countrymen, Carney is blessed with the power to eat whatever diet he chooses. Why should he starve himself and his family to serve your illogical strawman?
Sir, if your points constitute Carney's total defense, he stands convicted of being what we all knew he was before the puff piece was published.

If I needed to see one item of Michelle All-This-for-a-Damned-Flag Obama's clothing to tell me what she is, it's the dress she wore the night FCMABBHO was elected.

But, is it true she has those jammies? Is it true about Jarrett's bathroom? Abedin's bedroom?
