Is This More of that Democrat Tolerance We've Heard So Much About?

Washington Dem labels an entire state a “racist wasteland.”

A Washington state lawmaker said Sunday he was just engaging in some sports trash talk when he called the state of Arizona a “racist wasteland.”

Democratic Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon made his harsh comment on Twitter after the Seattle Seahawks‘ loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Fitzgibbon later deleted his message and said in an interview that people were taking his trash talk a little too seriously.

“If folks are going to take that too seriously, then I’m sorry about that,” Fitzgibbon said.

Translated: I’m sorry that you’re offended but I’m not really sorry I said it.

Arizona got the last laugh: The Cardinals won.

Annise Parker, mayor of Houston and an openly gay Democrat, lashed out at the stars of Duck Dynasty over the weekend. The mayor of America’s fourth largest city declared Phil Robertson a “redneck wingnut” whose views are “irrelevant.”

Parker probably thought she was being witty by calling Robertson a “redneck,” but that just proves that she doesn’t really know the show. If she did, she would know that the Robertsons call themselves “rednecks” in nearly every episode. “Redneck” is even in the title of several episodes — “High Tech Redneck,” “Redneck Logic,” “Redneck Roadtrip,” etc. Calling them “rednecks” is just acknowledging a reality the Robertsons themselves celebrate.

As for “wingnut” and “who cares,” the first is an attempt to play to the Democratic Underground crowd. That fringe loves to insult others and “wingnut” is as creative as they can manage. The latter is an attempt at being flippantly tolerant. Taken in its entirety, Parker’s comment comes off as childish. Not really something worthy of the mayor of a large metropolitan center that includes all kinds of folks.

Democrats constantly preach tolerance. They seldom live up to their own sermons.
