Ah, but try to eat low carb...well, out. Everything that was low carb is breaded or sugary sauced. You must be careful with bbq to get it naked, but you still have the sugar in the marinade, rub and finishing basting.

It is not a conspiracy. Or at least overt. The goal of a restaurant is for you to not leave hungry (assuming it isn't a fancy shmancy place that measures portions in milligrams.) An carbs are low cost filler that people enjoy. As Taco Bell attests, the same carbs can be spun into a menu full of "variety".

I've gone to a steak place, denied the bread, order the largest steak, opted for the veggies in butter, and even with a beer been hungry again before I got up. That fades but it isn't the type of feeling that if unexpected or not understood causes you to return to a place or feel you got your meal dollar's worth.

I'm actually aware of a lot of those, and have ordered most I knew about.

I don't order the Five Guys grilled cheese because I don't go to Five Guys to NOT have meat.
