Obamacare: Top Dem Admits 'They Knew,' and Then Lies Again

This post by Jonathan Strong over at NRO is a marvel.

“We knew that there would be some policies that would not qualify and therefore people would be required to get more extensive coverage,” [Rep. Steny] Hoyer said in response to a question from National Review.

Hoyer was the House Majority Whip when Obamacare passed and became law. He was in and among the leadership that lied and lied and lied about what Obamacare would do. But we should trust him now…

Asked by another reporter how repeated statements by Obama to the contrary weren’t “misleading,” Hoyer said “I don’t think the message was wrong. I think the message was accurate. It was not precise enough…[it] should have been caveated with – ‘assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do.’”

Right. That little caveat is like the disclaimers in the classic SNL Super Happy Fun Ball ad. It’s very significant. Your healthcare insurance rates may suddenly leap to unaffordable prices! Small businesses should avoid prolonged exposure to Obamacare! BUT THEY CAN’T.

Speaking that fine print would have killed Obamacare and they knew it. So they didn’t speak it, and Hoyer is lying about the original lies now.

If a private company did what Hoyer and Obama did — sold a product under false advertising, hid the fine print detailing the serious downsides, and then came out lying about all of it again — Hoyer and Obama would be among the first to call for guillotines in corporate board rooms, and the leftists supporting the Obamacare lies now would rise up in a unified chorus of support.
