I imagine they’re not alone in wanting America to go away. We certainly can be a troublesome superpower at times — especially for the running-dog, commie hegemons in Beijing.

But, really. “De-Americanize” the world? Forget our nukes and the world’s most sophisticated, powerful, professional military. Forget our $15 trillion economy. Forget the fact that American culture is voraciously consumed by most of the planet.

Never mind all that. I’ve got two words for the Chinese: blue jeans.

IBT reports:

China’s official news agency has called for the creation of a “de-Americanised world”, saying the destinies of people should not be left in the hands of a hypocritical nation with a dysfunctional government.

Heaping criticism and caustic ridicule on Washington, the Xinhua news agency called the US a civilian slayer, prisoner torturer and meddler in others’ affairs, and said the ‘Pax Americana’ was a failure on all fronts.

The official news agency of China, which is seen as the pretender to the world’s superpower crown, then rubbed in more salt, calling American economic pre-eminence just a seeming dominance.

“As US politicians of both political parties are still shuffling back and forth between the White House and the Capitol Hill without striking a viable deal to bring normality to the body politic they brag about, it is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanised world,” the editorial said.

It asks why the self-declared protector of the world is sowing mayhem in the financial markets by failing to resolve political differences over key economic policy.

“… the cyclical stagnation in Washington for a viable bipartisan solution over a federal budget and an approval for raising debt ceiling has again left many nations’ tremendous dollar assets in jeopardy and the international community highly agonised,” the agency said.

It is not the first time Chinese leadership and newspapers have criticised Washington over a policy paralysis that threatens to devalue its dollar assets.

According to US Treasury Department data, China is the biggest foreign owner of US Treasuries at $1.28 trillion as of July. Besides, China also holds close to $3.5 trillion of dollar-denominated assets.

A US debt default and consequent credit downgrade would significantly erode the value of China’s holdings.

As the first step in creating a de-Americanised world, all nations must try to shape an international system that respects the sovereignty of all nations and ensures the US keeps out of the domestic affairs of others, Xinhua said.

“The developing and emerging market economies need to have more say in major international financial institutions including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, so that they could better reflect the transformations of the global economic and political landscape,” the editorial says.

You know what? They’re right. Why can’t we have a government like China’s? They don’t have any messy politicking largely because they don’t allow anyone to join the leadership who might rock the boat too much. Bo Xilai was a corrupt official — but if you look closely at all of them, I doubt whether you’d find any of them without sin. Bo’s crime was not corruption but apostasy. He crossed some very powerful people and will spend the rest of his life in jail for it.

That’s one way to get everyone to go along, I suppose.

" The Chinese don’t interfere in the internal affairs of too many countries (do Burma and Tibet count?)"

No, nor do Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia or Vietnam, apparently. The Chinese system is to interfere only within their "sphere" and then to deny that they are doing exactly that.

China okay.

USA boo hiss, thumbs down from the courtiers in the court of the emperors.

Those liberal compassionates know a thing or two with their vaunted caring, their compassion.

An American Civil War that cost how many hundreds of thousands of citizens to abolish the legal stamp for slavery. Long long ago. Who remembers? Who cares?

Terrible, inhumane, evil, " mean", those Yanks, those cowboys of the West. Except those Yanks are often the Cavalry putting blood and treasury to the service of " Others". In their own international "HIgh Noon". The compassionate liberals hunkering down within their "gated communities".

China. Within living memory murdering directly and indirectly with their Red Guards and delegation of "intellectuals" to the rice paddies as government POLICY how many millions of their own compatriots?. And then there are ther "re-education camps", etc, etc, etc. And that long forgotten Tiannamman Square episode. Public instead of their usual "disciplline" and "education" of the population". Inside the Closed to westerners , the Chinese Wall, borders. Where were the "liberal" Westerners and journalists then?

But they're Chinese. Different, OTHER than Weaterners.

Even for liberals. Who "feel the pain" of persons humiliated and "disenfranchised" in the West. Especially in that proven most evil of nations the USA with the "racism" of their "white" populations.

The THING that counts for the Western "Liberals" is that the Chinese are NOT American. They're NOT LIKE Americans. THAT is what counts , THAT is what iis crucial for the people who tell us how much they value all people whatever their skin colour, "race" or ethnic genesis. Or their culture. The ONLY Hateful culture, nation, peoples are those of the West and the Primary Villains the peoples of the USA.

WHAT is wrong with these people who line up and march to the pipes and drums as "compassionate liberals". Protected and maintaned in unbelievable plenty and liberty by the very peoples whose demise they not only desire but are in process of furthering?

Communist China is happy to watch 0bama attempt to turn the USA into a communist nation that will implode. No true communist lets a crisis go to waste, and their talent is in creating crisis, not ending it.

Don't lose sight of the big picture on this as the left will always attempt to "control the narrative" by deflecting the deep truth with shallow details.

Our currency as the world standard is under attack. The ChiCom's goal is all too clear.

don't worry about China. Japan, S. Korea, Vietnam, India, Afghanistan, Russia and central Asian muslims will be enough to contain them. they will get old before they get rich.
deAmericanize?

The oil boom recently created in the United States spells real trouble for the Persian Gulf, which now sends most of its oil to China. The United States, at no cost to anyone else, keeps the Persian Gulf oil lanes open for the world. I am fully supportive of the Chinese assuming that burden, especially given their aggressively brutal historical behavior towards the Middle East.

The words "Genghis Khan" and "Sack of Bagdad" to this day causes one to involutarily shudder, given the amazingly brutish bloodshed inflicted on the Persians and pre-Iraq Baghdad. With China newly ascendant in the Persian Gulf, rest assured there will be Peace and Stability in the Middle East, and no tactic, no matter how brutal and genocidal, will be overlooked to keep it that way.

China has absolutely no patience with their own restive Islamic populations, with photos of proud Chinese police posed with their automatic weapons, standing over cord-wood-stacked dead Jihadis, like elk hunters posing with a trophy buck elk.

And for the Chinese, Mecca and Medina and Quom are legitimate military objectives, to be nuked, reduced and depopulated as goals in the irrepressable war for peace and stability.

The amazingly idiotic goal of Jihadis to remove the United States from their "holy lands" is just laughablly self-destructive, given that the aggressively intolerant Chinese will take assuredly take the place of the benign superpower that has lost its way.

None of you really understand what the article means.
It's focused on the US Economy, and specifically the USD as a Reserve Currency. Furthermore, this article could not have been written without approval from China's rulers.
In this article, China is openly calling for the entire world to abandon the USD as a the reserve currency. China has already signed trade agreements with Germany, England, Russia, Australia, NZ, Brazil and several other nations to settle their trade in Yuan. Once the Saudis switch over, it's game over for the USD.
At that point, 40 years of exported inflation will come home to roost. Also, any USD denominated assets - such as $2.6T in foreign held T bills - are going to get dumped in an avalanche. US interest rates will take off to the moon, more or less.
They've been planning on this for about a decade. Their trap is about to be sprung on us.

You are correct. Too many have been feeding on the misinformation to see this as the goal of Soros and others who stand to profit.

Very few original Chinese designed and made consumer and industrial products are available outside of China because no one wants them. Almost everything about their success is derivative of other peoples’—mostly westerners’—ideas and inventions. This fact alone should give them pause for thought and inspire them to rethink their claim of superiority in any area of human endeavor, but, unfortunately, it does not.

Make jokes all you want, try to deprecate China... meanwhile, they're not laughing, or at least they're laughing at the US. Do you know what the term China ("Zhōngguó") historically refers to? It means essentially 'middle'. However, this is not a geographic reference, it is a philisophical/cultural reference. The Chinese refer to their country and culture as inseparably the Middle Kingdom, i.e., the intercessor between Heaven and everybody else in the world, where 'everybody else in the world' are nothing but barbarians. This cultural attitude has permeated and infused Chinese for thousands of years, regardless of the political/economic standing at any point in history, at it will continue to do so.

In essence, the Chinese are the world's most chauvanistic, arrogant people on the face of this planet.... they always have been and they always will be. Now what kinds of affects do you suppose this attitude has on their dealings with other people in the world? The result is that Chinese automatically look down their noses at everyone else from the outset, no matter what kind of "face" they put on the proceedings. In the near future, China will be much more agressive in pursuing its interests. They will ride roughshod over Southeast Asia, they will continually confront Japan and the US essentially daring them to do something about Chinese demands, and they will care absolutely not one tiny miniscule iota about "international opinion" or "the world community".

The coming Chinese hegemonic century will be a far, far different thing than the waning American one. Better get set for it to become a Chinese lackey.

It will be interesting to see how the Chinese triumphalism meeting the Islamic triumphalism works out as that situation evolves.

There's actually a long, existing history of precisely those kinds of clashes. Ever since the rise of Islam, Muslim proselytizers have made sporadic attempts at conversion, but had about as much success as the Christian missionaries--i.e., highly limited, and occasionally proscribed. And the current regime's ongoing issues with Chinese Turkestan (a.k.a. Xinjiang, the country's majority-Muslim northwestern wedge) could take up a book in itself.

Well, America's complete eclipsing of once great powers like Germany or France did not make make them lackeys of the US. Even if China were to economically and militarily eclipse the US (a far from certain outcome in the near/medium term future), the US will still posses enough oomph to ensure its strategic autonomy and deter China for the foreseeable future. Be worried, but don't panic.

Not to be too harsh in my response to you, but all the pretty US military toys in the world mean nothing because the globo-socialists in charge of the US do not have the backbone to use them in any strategic, concerted, effective effort that would (heaven forbid!) actually attempt to project US power and/or defend it. From the standpoint of the Chinese, our fearless leaders such as that Lying Scum in the White House (LSWH) and his handlers will ensure that the US devolves into a 3rd-world shadow of itself.
