Take a look at this photo. It was taken in Washington, D.C., this morning, 9:10 AM Eastern time.
This is a scenic overlook on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Washington, D.C. The GW is one of the most scenic routes around the nation’s capital. Scenic overlooks are unmanned places where motorists can pull in, park for a couple minutes, look around, maybe snap a photo, and then move on with their day. There are no amenities. It’s just a small parking lot.
The truck belongs to the National Park Service. Note the logo on its door. It’s this logo.
It doesn’t cost a cent to leave the scenic overlooks unmanned. But it does cost money — pay, fuel, the cost of the obstacles — to send National Park Service personnel out with Barrycades to block them off.

FYI - Apparently Obama up the ante [https://twitter.com/McCormackJohn/status/386115714878173184]
I think it's fair to conclude that Barry has certainly gotten himself "all wee wee'd up" !!!
:o)
How about .8 million people furloughed, who may or may not get paid back? How about the shutdown of critical CDC programs as flu season gets underway or shut down of many food inspections? What about shut downs of Headstart programs, WIC, SBA, or delays in processing claims at the SSA and VA? Or rebuilding roads in Colorado, or continuing improvement projects at airports?
Scenic overlooks and museum farms are the priorities? Sorry, this post isn't even serious, it is as pointless as the entire "slimdown" has been. It must be trolling...ha ha! Thanks!
The point is that Obama is choosing things to "close" that have no staff, rely upon no appropriations, just to be petulant and stick a thumb in the eye of the American public. He is showing intentional bad faith and so your little list of horrors is only discredited by the President's own actions.
Oh, you do know that the Vice President himself promised Colorado that the shutdown would not slow down Colorado recovery, don't you?
