Chicago has become the murder capital of the United States. The city has some of the strongest gun control laws in the country, it has a growing gang problem, and its leaders have chosen to pick public battles with Chick-fil-A instead of crushing the gangs.

The juxtaposition of those two issues may seem strange, but look at Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s own words. When Chick-fil-A wanted to open restaurants in Chicago, Emanuel stepped up to deride the restaurant chain and proclaimed that “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.” Chick-fil-A is a legal business that had only gotten on Emanuel’s radar because its owner publicly supports traditional marriage — a stance that most Democrats recently claimed to stand for.

As the city’s gangs have gotten increasingly brazen, going on weekend shooting sprees worth of Kabul, Emanuel’s response has been to ask the gangs to play nice. He has questioned their upbringing, but reserved his harshest words for the chicken restaurants. He has also allowed the anti-Semitic, anti-white Nation of Islam to patrol the streets, while failing to hire more police.

One can distill from all that that “Chicago values” including hating on traditional minded folks for having opinions; curbing their rights of speech and commerce along with the right of self-defense for law-abiding citizens; while coddling racists and doing nothing effective against violent gangsters who shoot up neighborhoods.

Over the weekend, Rick Moran wrote about the latest idea to do something about Chicago’s violence: Bring in the National Guard.

That’s illegal. But it’s very telling that Gov. Quinn, another “progressive,” is even considering it.

Chicago-style progressive governance would take America to a very dark place, where individual freedom may flicker out. Chicago suggests where progressive government may finally take this country: Traditional rights and values maligned and destroyed, replaced with the progressives’ ever-shifting and self-interested view of right and wrong; crime unchallenged and out of control; and armed federal troops patrolling our streets alongside racist demagogues, just to try to keep some semblance of order.

Why does anybody think Rahm "Never let a good crisis go to waste" Emanuel actually wants to stop the violence in Chicago? He profits with every violent crime in his city. With every new slaughter the cries for him to "DO SOMETHING" get louder. Even better for him than the murders on the South Side is when the thugs branch out into the better off areas, when the previously unaffected begin to be victimized the wailing for someone else to make me safe really increase in volume.

What if someone could prove, really prove, that widespread gun ownership was safer than extreme gun control? What would Rahm do? Deny the truth? Well consider this; in 2010 Chicago (with its extreme gun control) had 19 times more murders per capita than El Paso, Texas, where every responsible adult citizen can carry a loaded, concealed handgun on her (or his) person as they go about their day. Imagine how many lives could have been spared if Chicago had not gone down this extreme gun control path. Need more proof? Washington DC had twenty seven times more murders the same year despite having a smaller population. Twenty seven times !!

It's the Nation of Islam that is the source of the hate speech that introduces despair into the lives of young black folks. And Chicago is not the murder capital of the U.S. but, arguably, of the world. The Dem Party is a disgrace. Their own hate speech is in lock step with the Nation of Islam. Nothing is the fault of black folks - nothing. In other words, Chicago will become peaceful when white Americans stop being so racist.

Please clarify the reason that is illegal. The posse comitatus act makes it illegal for President Obama to call in the US Army 3rd Infantry Division, but unless there is some Illinois-specific statute prohibiting, I believe that a state governor can call up his state's National Guard for a wide variety of reasons, including keep the peace.

Everybody keeps talking about 'gangs.' That's not the problem. The problem is a completely violent, misogynistic, racist subculture.

1) Go to FBI dot gov and look up our nations homicide rate -- violent crime rate -- hate crimes, anything -- broken down by race.

2) Go to YouTube and search for 'Hood Life.' Watch it for a few minutes. Any few minutes will do.

You don't have to wear colors or have tats or done time in prison to participate in the gangsta thug phenomenon. You just have to live there.

I would like to see a comparison between crime in America wrt whites only versus whites in Europe. I bet it's reasonably close. Maybe same for guns, too. Dunno.

Sample media reports (I like using corpie media whenever possible, because they're most likely to whitewash the lib agenda promoted in Chicago. So when THEY say there's a gang problem, it's likely even larger than they want to admit. I've had federal law enforcement professionals tell me media only reports about 10% of the cartel activity on our side of the border. As Nicholson says in A Few Good Men: You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!)
From Bloomberg: “Heroin Pushed on Chicago by Cartel Fueling Gang Murders”

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-17/heroin-pushed-on-chicago-by-cartel-fueling-gang-murders.html

From NPR:
"John Lippert, an investigative reporter for Bloomberg Markets magazine, traced the violence in Chicago back to Mexico. Lippert talks to Steve Inskeep about the impact of the Sinaloa drug cartel's dominance over the drug trade in Chicago and the Midwest."

http://www.npr.org/2013/09/17/223309103/probing-ties-between-mexican-drug-cartel-and-chicagos-violence

From CBS: "Gun violence is out of control in Chicago. Just last night, there were eight shootings, two of them deadly.

That pushes the total so far in 2012 to 351 shooting deaths -- up 30 percent from last year. Drug gangs are a big reason."

"As it stands now, at least three major Mexican cartels are battling over control of billions of dollars of marijuana, cocaine and -- increasingly -- heroin in this city. That includes the ultra-violent Zetas and the powerful Sinaloa cartel, run by its shadowy leader Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman."

It isn't illegal! I wanted to scream at a guy on FOX carrying on about it being illegal earlier this AM. It would be illegal for Comrade Obama to send in the IL National Guard under federal direction, absent the Governor's request. The Governor has every right to call them to what's called State Active Duty and under the command of the State Adjutant General direct them to enforce state law in Chicago. The State of Alaska has done it several times, calling them out to fight forest fires and such. Last year the mayor of Juneau asked and got the Governor to call the local Guard unit to State Active Duty to help with evacuation, provide crowd control, and assist local law enforcement during a big fire in Downtown Juneau. All the drunks and rowdies from the Downtown bars had turned out in the streets to watch the entertainment and were in the way and not following the Police directions. They behaved much better when the big green trucks started pulling in. Usually whether the Guard is used under state or federal direction is really just a money issue. If there is a federal disaster declaration and the Guard is used for, say, maintaining order in a flooded city, they are there pursuant to the Governor's request and, thus, the requirements of posse comitatus are satisfied. The alternative, is that the President declare that a state of insurrection or invasion exists and even without the governor's request, the President sends the Guard in under federal command. I think that's what Eisenhower did in Little Rock in the 1950s. It was before the posse comitatus law, but essentially that's what Lincoln did to fight the Civil War with federal troops; he declared that there was a state of insurrection in the seceding states and asked the other state governors to call up their militias and provide 75K troops to the US

Posse Comitatus is what put GWB in such a damnable position with Katrina; he had to wait until the Governor asked him before he could do anything, and he even gave her the federal disaster declaration in advance. But, the honky dog oil-man President couldn't very well say that a state of insurrection existed in a state run by a white Democrat woman and in a city run by a black Democrat mayor. Wouldn't be proper.

But we're not talking about fire or flood relief. We're talking about law enforcement. Among other differences, the law enforcement role might end up being permanent.

In Chicago, this would be a Bad Thing?

Were I the Illinois Governor,(and I am not because I am not a lickspittle masochist), the very FIRST thing I would do after declaring a state of emergency and sending my Guardsmen in to patrol the streets, would be to have the City's charter revoked and throw the entire municipal and county government out of office.

The city and county employees would be assumed by and paid by the State. Any employees who did not choose to accept this arrangement would be free to hit the bricks.

Since the Muni and County Government no longer had lawful authority, the taxes that they used to levy would no longer be valid, and the savings from paying these parasites would increase the common wealth.

And I would not paint myself into a corner by outlining an "Exit Strategy". Chicago would have to earn the back the right to govern itself once again.
This most likely would not happen until the present generation of political parasites and their patrons had passed from the scene.

I'm talking about law enforcement, and just about anything else a state's governor and adjutant general want them to do. National Guard units are a state force under state command except when called for National Defense or to deal with an insurrection or invasion. Many states still have the legal power down to county sheriffs and local police chiefs to deputize citizens and form a posse; it's never done, but it can be. A posse of deputized citizens was the primary form of law enforcement in the rural areas of the Country until well into the 20th Century.

My wife used to be in charge of the money and record keeping for the Alaska National Guard as well as the State's FEMA analog agency. I dealt with all sorts of pay and contract issues with them when they were called to State Active Duty. This is stuff you had to know.

Governors want federal disaster declarations and to have their Guard put under federal command for storms, floods, fires and the like because then that big old federal wallet gets open to pay the Guard (and anyone else who can glom on). States have to pay for everything themselves when it is the state ordering them to duty.

Since National Guard units are primarily armed and equipped by the federal government, you might get some interesting issues of what equipment they could use if the President didn't agree with what the governor was doing. But in terms of authority, the only thing that has changed by making them the National Guard rather than the State militia is the President can call them to active duty without asking a governor for the National Defense; he just can't call them to action in a state without that state's request unless there is an insurrection or invasion. And I guess if the governor of a state wanted his National Guard permanently assigned to law enforcement, he could, might cause him some political issues, but then might not. State militias in the West were used against the Indians at times under state direction, though that has some more interesting Constitutional implications because offederal jurisdiction over Indians. The infamous Sand Creek massacre was an act by the Colorado State Militia. Southern governors used militia at times for slave patrols. Governors really are very, very powerful; it's just from the late 19th Century forward they have not much exercised their powers and left things to the federal government and then the actions of some Southern governors during the Civil Rights Movement days gave gubernatorial authority a bad odor.

Yes Bryan, the Guard can be called out by the Governor for law enforcement. When the a state calls up its Guard units for disaster relief or civil unrest they are usual deputized as state police and have full police powers. Posse Comitatus only applies to the Department of Army and Air Force (by derivation) personnel by law and by Department of the Navy by regulation. It does not apply to National Guard operating under direct state control or under Title 32 USC.

National Guard involvement in Chicago law enforcement will almost certainly prove a failure, AND permanent, Bryan. It's not going to change the cultural environment which embraces the thug culture of the negroes in Chicago. That's the real problem there, and in Detroit, Newark, Oakland's East Bay, and probably a dozen other cities under Progressive "governance".

Negroes aren't the only ones who have embraced the thug culture; Latinos in East Los Angeles have also done so. It seems to be the alternative of choice to living under the predictable corruption of Progressive "government". But most people are too afraid of being labeled "racist" to point out the obvious.

Standing army? I don't even want to think about it.

Of course, it would not last, because there is no money for it. This is the crux of the problem, lack of money. These Democratic regimes have spent all the money. Now they are broke. In Chicago, they cannot hire enough police. No money. So they look to the NG as a way to have more police, and have the State pay for it. However, the State is broke, too. round and round we go.
