How…unexpected. (Not.) John Kerry said it couldn’t be done. Russia is making sure that it won’t, even if it could be.

Russia is not keen at this stage for a binding U.N. Security Council resolution that would provide a framework to control Syria’s chemical weapons’ stocks, France’s foreign minister said after talks with his Russian counterpart on Tuesday.

“As I understood, the Russians at this stage were not necessarily enthusiastic, and I’m using euphemism, to put all that into the framework of a U.N. binding resolution,” Laurent Fabius told French lawmakers after a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Obama is being played. The Russian deal forced him to change course and re-write tonight’s speech at the last minute. Now he has to re-write it again, or pretend that the Russians didn’t just drop a flaming bag of something on the White House doorstep. It will be grimly amusing to see what Obama tells the American people about all this now. The words “fiasco” and “clusterf*ck” have been said by others today. He won’t use either word, but that doesn’t mean both don’t apply.

Harry Reid pretended that the Russia deal drove him to halt a vote on force in the Senate. The reality is that Democrat votes for force were “dropping like flies,” and the prospect of passage in the House was always grim. Obama lost the Congressional Black Caucus today. Sen. Mitch McConnell came out against bombing today, breaking with the House GOP leaders who had supported it, and probably killing off any chance that the Senate would help Obama out by at least giving him a split vote in Congress. The likelihood now is that he gets rejected by both houses with actual “No” votes or implicitly if neither brings the authorization to a vote, and then has to decide if he wants to strike Syria anyway. Does Barry feel lucky?

So Obama is being played by Putin. The question is, does he know or even care that he’s being played? He seemed happy enough to grab Putin’s hand and get out of his jam. Now what’s he going to do? Putin is saying that there will be no quick fix, and that he intends to keep on using the UN to mess around with Obama, promise him a prize, then take it away, over and over again. Playing the part of Lucy, Vlad Putin. Playing the part of Charlie Brown trying to kick a football, Barack Obama. For a while to come.

How is it that we have such boobs running our country? In a match between community organizer Obama and hardened, ruthless exKGB agent Putin, the smart money would be on Putin.

Did anyone else have trouble believing Obama's comment to Chris Wallace that this "deal" with Russia had been in the works for a really long time? Since just a couple of weeks ago, Obama was making derogatory comments about Putin in press conferences and publicly cancelling meetings with him. I'm thinking that's not a good PR move for a country you're trying to negotiate something as delicate as stripping a third party of any kind of weapons.

I suspect that Putin is playing games by tossing Obama a lifeline - letting him make speeches and promises today and then will be yanking the rug out tomorrow. I'm in the camp with those who feel that Obama needs his to be delivered a giant wedgy by Putin so he can be forced to face his own incompetence, but realize that the damage to the United States will be long term.

"The question is, does he know or even care that he’s being played? "

That's a very interesting question.

I have often said that Obama is not stupid, he's evil. I stand by that. People who think everything he does is because of incompetence simply are not paying attention (at best).

But in this, he's playing out of his league. WAY out of his league.

I don't think he knows that.

We need to fire up the old Biden gaffe track and distract everybody for a few days to give Obama time to figure things out. That's the best I've got.

Putin makes a better American President than Obama. We used to laugh at the Russians; now they protect their cultural norms, and have outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood. No political correctness in sight. Who's the fools?

Let's face it, we've conceded first place, at least in terms of survivability. 100 years from now, the Russians will be laughing at us from amidst their new empire, while we struggle with regional political and racial Balkanization brought about by making the Third World de facto American citizens.

The Supreme Court's ruling on an illegal alien passing the bar as a lawyer? I have an easy Russian answer: kick him out with his suitcase, and seize his assets to pay for the transition to whatever noble and diverse country he lands in.

It's like a puppy (Obama) took a steaming dump in the middle of the living room, and his master (Putin) stuffed his nose in it. I'm calling it a Poopsnoot, because it alliterates. Hey, use it in a sentence. Ok, Putin poopsnooted Obama. Obama been poopsnooted. Obama earned that poopsnooting.

what I see is a great drama being played out on the world stage, w/ wwIII as a possible outcome. the script is loosely woven, so as to allow the actors to move around and seem to be acting independently, like puppets on strings. remember when odumbo's mic was open and he was telling putin he would only need one more election to be able to ???? well, he's there and performing as promised.

the commie way:
we should all be glad comrade prez. is working on green energy to get us out of our oil-crack habit.
killing coal and the jobs that went away w/ it is also helping us to be more energy independent. it was also very effective. all hail comrade 0.
killing that new pipeline from Canada was another big factor in our far future energy independence, if we all live that long.
so glad we got an admin. willing to use the e.p.a. to stifle more energy production.
sarc off//

seriously, we desperately need to get our young arses out of m.e. conflicts. to do that we need to be energy independent. it would easily be possible if we weren't being sold down the river on so many fronts by the commies our leech-like, halfwit, criminally insane, free stuff neighbors keep electing to office.

amerika is soooo screwed and lurching uncontrollably toward oblivion. should we start practicing 'duck and cover' again? it was always fun stopping class and climbing under the desks. the girls looked kinda funny w/ those big skirts trying to be ladylike while climbing under the desks w/ 30 other kids.

And add to this the shadow of a nuclear Iran ... Putin making nice with the House of Saud and the rulers of Qatar, talking about "cooperation" on energy production that might make 1970's OPEC look downright genteel ... and from what I hear today, more examples of Putin's proclivity to cut off natural gas feeds to neighbors that don't toe his line.

All this is the kind of stuff that starts World Wars.

There has not been this much hilarity in the Kremlin since Bay of Pigs. Laughing so hard that they can hardly catch their breaths.

I heard Putin had to hire an extra KGB man to hold his belly. His arms were getting tired of holding his pouch while laughing uncontrollably.

Can't you just see that on a billboard? :D
