A series of horrific car bombings in Baghdad yesterday have reportedly left more than 80 dead and many more injured. The attacks appeared to target festivities marking the end of Ramadan in Shi’ite neighborhoods, which prompted comment from State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who said in an official statement:

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the cowardly attacks today in Baghdad. These attacks were aimed at families celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The terrorists who committed these acts are enemies of Islam and a shared enemy of the United States, Iraq, and the international community. (HT: Alim Haider)

As horrific as these bombings are, obviously fueled by sectarian differences, it’s troubling to see that the Obama administration has now put the U.S. government in the business of denouncing “enemies of Islam.”

The first reason this development is troubling is the blinding hypocrisy and deliberate selectivity of it all.

As Elizabeth Harrington at CNS News reported last year, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson testified to Congress last year that the violence by the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram targeting Christians wasn’t religiously motivated — one day after Boko Haram bombed a church service on Easter Sunday.

Mind you, this is the administration that branded the Muslim Brotherhood a “largely secular” organization. It has taken every effort to purge government national-security documents of any reference tying terrorism to Islam while Janet Napolitano’s Department of Homeland Security proscribed training by anyone declaring themselves “Muslim reformers” (while at the same time government contractors tie pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and Tea Party views to “violent extremism”).

Any government employees that observe that Islamic terrorists themselves wrap themselves in the mantle of doctrinal Islam will quickly find themselves without a job. And when members of Congress have confronted senior administration officials as to whether elements of radical Islam have declared war on the U.S., those officials have angrily protested that Congress merely asking such questions puts them in league with al-Qaeda.

Then there’s the constitutional problem. The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment requires the U.S. government to remain agnostic on these sorts of questions. It’s doubtful that Jen Psaki is going to be denouncing respective sides in Northern Ireland as “enemies of Christ,” especially when State can’t bring itself to even admit that attacks on Christians by Islamic groups are religiously motivated.

The administration has some serious problems in this regard. If the NYPD showing the documentary The Third Jihad to police officers is a grave constitutional crime, then so too should be the Department of Justice Civil Right Division screening Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think for their employees on government time (not to mention the chutzpah of anyone claiming to know “what a billion Muslims really think”).

Agreed. "Enemy of Islam" is an Islamic formulation that should never pass the lips of a US government official.

Why is it that when so called "people" promote the baby raping hypocrite muslim religion everyone bows in humility and empathy for the poor darling victims of false "terrorist" accusations? Why is it when someone starts to promote protestant, or Christian principles, which this country was founded on, they are automatically labeled a terrorist by the mainstream megaliars?

Did DaOne place his right hand on a Koran, or a Bible? What was his Doctoral thesis in College?

Islam is a perfect fit for the New Age. Pure paganism.

Islam is and never has been a religion. It's a political movement that uses religion to hide behind. Murdering and killing is name of the game. One quote ,I received from a friend of mine, a former Muslim, now a Christian. "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are muslims". He also said, Never, Never trust any of them.

We need some debaters, orators - powerful spokesmen, if you will - to lead the conservatives/Republicans in fighting the Obama administration's white-washing of Islam.

If followers of Islam want to be taken seriously by the rest of the world they must come up with a new prophet of "reasonability." The Koran is somewhat like the Christian Bible's Old Testament, but without the ameliorating influence of its New Testament. Something has to be done about the killing and violence promoted by the Koran. There are some "ameliorating" Hadiths, but they need the clout of an acknowledged prophet to give them credence.

I welcome conflicting arguments to my opinion.

Sorry I forgot. How about Pammy Geller, Robert Spencer, Walid Shoblat(I know I misspelled it)Nonie Darwish. But the govt and the eurotrash, consider them as "hate speech"preachers? What do we do?
The OT, was from a time when the world was primitive, brutal and violent. The Christ brought the New Testament, and with it came a new covenant, it allowed us to seek salvation in a more "Christian" manner.

This has been made improbable/impossible, when any criticism of pislam can or will be considered islamophobia--racisim--a crime. The govt has gotten it's nuts in a knot by not even being able to name it's enemy. Any mention of 'that' religion, followed by 'those' people has been removed from any training literature.

You forgot to add that Obama himself stated in a UN speech that we cannot tolerate those "who insult The Prophet."

Remember, that was his response to the world after the Benghazi mess.

His very wording is disturbing. He could have made a more general and generic appeal to religious tolerance, but instead chose to sound like an Imam. This appears to be more than just craven pandering by this administration, but sounds like a genuine attempt to realign American foreign and domestic policy.

Am I being a paranoid crank? Maybe, but it sure isn't helpful when we get this kind of bizarre language from an Ameican administration, and even "Republicans" are going to Egypt to demand the release of Muslim Brotherhood fanatics that have enraged a majority of Egyptians.

There is a marked differrence between trying to be an even-handed peace-maker, and appearing to align oneself with an ideology that has been an implaccable enemy responsible for killing thousands of Americans. ANd now we are reading that the Egyptian MB may have been complicit in Benghazi.

What the Hell is going on here?

Obama seems to like speaking in biblical phrases, that are about as meaningful in today's English as the King James bible. In his UN speech of 9/25/2012 his words are so flowery it hides the violence implied in them. Just try analyzing "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam," for what he is implying.

this psaki broad acts like she's dumber than a box of rocks. the terrorist who are killing other muslims are islamic terrorist themselves.
but then again this wasn't said out of stupidity. obama and his administration very carefully orchestrate every word they say and everything they do. it's a furtherance of obama's appeasement to muslims and the islamic cult which obama is the leader.

How ironic when Liberals so meticulously cover the backside of militant Islam.
If the jihadists ever prevailed, our Liberals would be the first infidels exterminated. The Cult of the Useful Idiot is among us.
