Planned Parenthood Admits that It Uses Taxpayer Money to Fund Abortions

The abortion debate in Texas has been clarifying. On one side we’ve seen people behave peacefully and respectfully, abide by the laws and the rules and sing hymns like “Amazing Grace.” On the other side, we’ve seen threats, mob tactics and “Hail Satan!” Do you #stand4life or do you #standwithwendy? In other words, for principle or media-inflated personality? Do you stand for “safe, legal, and rare” abortions, or merely legal and unrestricted abortions?

We’ve also seen Planned Parenthood lie through its teeth, and a couple of members of the the Texas media just called them out on it.

Big Jolly Politics points at a fact-check that the Dallas Morning News conducted of a Planned Parenthood ad attacking Republican. Sen. John Corona.

The ad features Republican Sen. John Carona’s, R-Dallas, face alongside a woman’s and reads, “A Texas health center’s cancer screening could save her life. Closing the health center could further Sen. Carona’s political ambition. Act now before Friday’s vote.”

Facts: Under the proposed legislation requiring most abortion clinics to become surgical centers, many of the state’s clinics would be forced to perform expensive upgrades. Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers, based on history in other states, say this would force most operators to close the clinics.

Planned Parenthood operates 10 abortion clinics in the state that would be mandated to raise to the new standards. The abortion clinics, by law, are separate entities and must be separately funded from health centers where cancer screenings take place.

So Planned Parenthood, the greedy corporate welfare queen, has been caught lying when it claims that the proposed new regulations will close its non-abortion health centers. But that’s not the end of the story. Planned Parenthood had to clarify:

Justine Sessions of Planned Parenthood acknowledged that, but said some abortion clinics and health centers are housed within the same buildings. She suggested that if it were too expensive to upgrade the abortion clinics, then it could also force a shut-down of the health care clinics in the same building.

That right there is an admission that Planned Parenthood mixes its funds and uses some taxpayer money — the corporate welfare it gets year after year from the government — to fund abortions.

Despite all its protestations, the abortion business must be pretty good. Planned Parenthood opened a gigantic facility that it calls “Prevention Park” in Houston’s black and Hispanic neighborhoods a couple of years ago. That facility is 78,000 square feet, making it the largest abortion center in the nation. A Planned Parenthood official called that abortion factory “sacred and holy ground.”
