So the US Park Police lost about 1,400 firearms, including machine guns, according to a report in the Washington Times.

Poor management and shoddy oversight have led the U.S. Park Police to lose track of hundreds of rifles, handguns and machine guns, a watchdog agency said.

“We found that staff at all levels — from firearms program managers to their employees — had no clear idea of how many weapons they maintained due to incomplete and poorly managed inventory controls,” investigators with the U.S. Interior Department’s inspector general’s office said, in United Press International. “As a result, we discovered hundreds of handguns, rifles and shotguns not accounted for on official USPP inventory records.”

Conditions were ripe for theft, the watchdog report found. And records are so skewed that the Park Police may never be able to discern whether weapons were actually stolen, UPI reported.

I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about. I mean, it’s not like the Obama administration has a history of losing track of weapons that end up with the Mexican drug cartels or anything…

Typical...now how about somebody making the DHS account for their firearms and MILLIONS of rounds of ammunition that was scarfed up by the government to keep out of the hands of legitimate, law abiding citizens...? I'm only 46...somebody let me know at the old folk's home when a reporter gives a sh!t...

I wonder if the US Park Service ever found that 500 pounds of explosives that turned up missing from one of their bunkers in Montana?

And the Obama regime is worried about civilians with semi-auto rifles?

"Poor management and shoddy oversight" at a government agency!?

I'll be on my fainting couch if anyone needs me.

The answer to this is simple: treat them the way the ATF would treat a gun store owner who similarly "lost track" of guns.

And wtf are park police doing with full-auto weapons, anyway?

I guess they need something to defend themselves from grizzlies crazed on the "crystal" they took from the portable meth labs operating on Fed Park territory.

So the US Park Police (or "Federal Tree Pigs" as I've heard them called) lost 1,400 firearms including fully automatic weapons (or "machine guns" as hoplophobe "progressives" call them). This does not portend well for safekeeping of private records under the misnamed "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" ("ObamaCare") kicking in in full force next year. The only threadbare silver lining in this massive dark cloud is that PPACA will become the rotting albatross hanging from the collective necks of the Obama administration and the Democrats.
