According to Dr. Milton Wolf, the answer is “yes.” And he should know, because the columnist was him.

Milton Wolf is a physician practicing in Kansas City, and he’s also President Barack Obama’s second cousin. During the health care debates of 2010, Dr. Wolf began speaking out against the ObamaCare proposal. Because he is an articulate, knowledgeable, passionate conservative, he began getting national attention, appearing on outlets including PJTV and Fox News. He also became a regular columnist for the Washington Times.

During the 5/14/2013 White House press conference, Dr. Wolf tweeted:

The same year the #IRS held up my tax refund for months w/o ever saying why, the WH urged the @WashTimes to drop me.

I asked him for more details. He explained what happened back in 2010 (quoted with his permission):

They called my editor and feigned concern that the Washington Times was taking advantage of me… by publishing my op-eds critical of Barack Obama. Around the same time the IRS put a hold on our tax refund that required an arbitrator and several months to resolve. We finally received our refund (and interest) but never an explanation. The local IRS office and the arbitrator seemed genuinely confused by the ordeal using terms like “very strange” and “unusual” but never could explain why it happened. One wonders.

With respect to the IRS issue, he noted:

I wondered at the time if the White House could possibly be behind it but I just couldn’t make that leap. It seemed so stupid and hamhanded. But what before seemed implausible today seems possible.

Of course, he may never know the full truth. Another interesting observation from Wolf:

[I]t wasn’t just a politician complaining about a particular column or supposedly incorrect facts. They weren’t requesting a correction or even an opportunity to respond. They wanted someone canned.

Fortunately, the Washington Times stood by Dr. Wolf. He’s now written over 80 pieces for them in the past three years (which is pretty damned impressive for someone with a full-time job in a busy medical practice).

At Tuesday’s press conference, White House press secretary Jay Carney repeatedly claimed that President Obama was deeply committed to freedom of the press and “unfettered” media scrutiny of his administration. Trying to get a conservative columnist canned from a newspaper sure is a funny way of showing it.

Every passing day reconfirms what a son of a b*tch the man in the White House is. To call him Nixonian is letting him off too easy - Nixon at least had experience, and knew the value of his country, underneath the liar and the crook.

Don't forget how the White House also tried to marginalize Fox News and portray them as "not really a news organization". The MSM rallied around Fox then, fortunately. But this pattern of demonizing the "Other" and putting them on various enemies lists is rock-solid.

Just Words Jay - Words and Speeches. Delivered with no emotion - without a thought of what unfettered really means - likely knowing full well the implications his boss is tangled up in and how he/they are utilizing functions of our government against the free press - and indeed - against Americans in particular and in general. Like we are all the enemy. Buy you have to ask yourself - enemy of what?

I'm beginning to feel like the country-folk in Steinbeck's The Moon is Down - in my own country.

Never in the history of the USA have words/phrases like "Second Amendment Rights" - "Freedom of the Press" (maybe that should be Freedom FROM the Press?) and "an apolitical IRS" become "Just Words - Just Speeches".

Several thousands of years ago, the Greeks had a complete description of what just happened to Obama, Hubris, followed by Nemisis.

'White House press secretary Jay Carney repeatedly claimed that President Obama was deeply committed to freedom of the press and “unfettered” media scrutiny of his administration.'

What a baldfaced liar he and his boss are.

Jake Tapper (formerly of ABC) was the only WH correspondent who would actually ask some mildly probing questions at press conferences. I suspect the WH hinted to CNN to give him his current job (NOT a WH correspondent) precisely to get rid of him and his inconvenient questions.

Jay Carney told the truth, its just that his meaning of "unfettered" is having an unlimited ability to praise Obama.

No surprise for anyone thats been paying attention, and reading PJM, I am sure.

I often wonder if there are any Obama voters that might drop in and lurk seeking an explanation for their confusion while slowly awakening from their cognitive dissonance. How is that pomo-transnationalist communiity collaborator race healer most transparent ever Empty Suit-in-Chief working out for you so far? Any comments?

No, not really, the President was concerned that the right wing extremist rag the Washington Times used the doctor to attack his second cousin. The president could have given him a lucrative post in the administration and he could become filthy rich as a lobbyist and medical authority for the rest of his life. The president, after all, has given billions to his cronies, he wouldn't bat an eyelash buying out his cousin. The second cousin's self-destructive behavior was unfathomable, and should be evaluated by a psychiatrist. Under Obamacare, the evaluation, the medication, and the rehab are free.

Oh, and he should be prohibited from ever owning a firearm, per the Glorious Leader's evaluation of him as self-destructive.

The air of the King who dare not be spoken of... It's as if he really thinks he's above the law, crazy for anyone in America, except a hardcore leftist Chicago thug.. they get away with nasty slimeball stuff all the time.. The Chi Town papers don't care, their party wins, and they hate republicans, so what if people are cheated.. crushed.. it's transformational man..

Obama has been coddled and given his way on everything he ever wanted.. in a city where an opposition doesn't really exist, it was driven out decades ago..

He's used to stepping on people, and getting away with it.

Here's praying, this time, he gets the b1tch slap to his chops he's had coming since high school..
