In a new MSNBC “Lean Forward” ad, Tulane professor and network commentator Melissa Harris-Perry says that traditional parenthood, and in fact the entire traditional family, are outdated.

In the guise of “investing” in public education, Harris-Perry says “we have a private notion of children. ‘Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility.’ We haven’t had a very collective notion of, ‘These are our children,’” she says.

“So part of it is, we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents. Or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”

So there is is, out in the open from NBCUniversal and its Comcast cable empire: Your kids belong to the state, and your family is meaningless.

Remember, she's a black, racist thug. What she is trying to do is shift responsibility for for the state of black children in this country from black parents and the other black, racist thugs they obey, to all of us! Her next position is to demand the the whites in the community live up to their obligation to all the children in the community. The final step is to demand that we meet our obligation to the young black thugs by giving much of our cash to the above mentioned black, racist thugs (Jesse Jackson's replacement black racist thug to be named at a later date).

So, both Orwell and Ayn Rand got it right. It's been a slow creep, but it was unveiled for all to see with this ad.

If I weren't so cynical, I would like that the advertisement is promoting the notion that all members of a society perform acts that are not imposing on others but are still beneficial to others or everyone, including children. Picking up litter you see on the street. Dropping your spare change into the Red Cross bucket at the grocery store. Help fix equipment at the local playground or park. All voluntary individual acts that are not imposing on others' freedom and choices.
Unfortunately, I AM cynical. The Tulane professor very much would want "our betters" to impose upon parents to ensure the children conform to their ideas. Home schooling? School Choice? Critical thought? Benefits of Free Market instead of Socialism? Teach your children your own belief or non-belief systems? Teach your young children how to safely use and enjoy a rifle or handgun?
Sigh. It is frequently depressing getting older, at least from the perspective of tending to see the ill-will in others. Though, it certainly does increase the odds of survival.

"MSNBC Ad: Kids Belong to ‘Whole Communities,’ Not Their Parents"

So they can become little indoctrinated worker bees who are docile, don't think on their own & are uninquisitive? Methinks not.

I tell you what Ms. Harris-Perry. When you start feeding, clothing & sheltering my kids, then we'll talk. Until then, keep your leftist ideas to yourself & your hands off!

The State giveth and the State taketh away. Blessed be the name of the State!

Most parents give up their children to the State the moment the kids enroll in a public school. Some start earlier - kindergarten or daycare, funded by the State in one way or another. The State watches over and educates our children what - eight, ten, twelve hours a day? The State feeds them lunch. The State buys their sports equipment and builds gyms, tracks, and stadiums for them to compete in. The State provides playgrounds and parks for them to run around in. For many families, the State pays for their healthcare and their college education. Most hospitals and colleges suck on the State's teat as well.

In short, the State spends WAY more money, time, and effort raising your kids than you do.

So where do you get the notion that your kids don't belong to the State?

Full bore marxism. Not even fascism anymore. And given the penchant for the "green" environment, it's more likely to be Pol Potism rather than Leninism.

Yes, More Hillary "It takes a village."

"Your kids belong to the state, and your family is meaningless."

From the Administration educators point of view ... your family -
teaching God is the source of the Constitution and freedoms, not the State/Government -
teaching individual freedom, efforts and responsibility in a Capitalist society are the keys to happiness and success is the problem!

They understand they've got to get these "young heads of mush" away from such counter-productive influences.

"Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”'

Ugh, not this "It takes a village" stuff again... Even though it always means "I get a say in how you raise your kid, but your views don't matter". Apparently there are only one way streets in their villages.

I'm more interested in how they will sell this to the growing segment of childless couples, singles and seniors.

It won't be long until we see the schools urging students to report behavior that is "anti-social" - especially when such behavior is by their own parents - to the teachers and authorities. All our children will be told that if Mommy or Daddy say something negative about homosexuals or Muslims or any of the other pet causes of the Left, that it will be essential to share this information with the "community" so that the "community" can help their Mommys and Daddys see the errors of their ways.

It will be sugar-coated that way so that the children don't get alarmed and the media doesn't notice but the reality will be that more and more children are taken from their parents by the local Child Protective Services organization. This will be deemed essential for the safety and wellbeing of the children. Problem parents will find themselves in some form of re-education camp until they admit to the error of their ways and make a convincing declaration of their love for Big Brother.
