Andrew Cuomo, moderate and reformist Democratic governor of a blue state, given high marks even by Republicans. Until now:

A poll shows New York Republican voters for the first time disapprove of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s performance following the Democrat’s push for a gun-control bill.

The Quinnipiac University poll finds 55% of Republican voters disapprove of Cuomo, with 27% approving of his job performance.

In December, 74% of Republicans approved of Cuomo’s performance.

Losing GOP support in a state rife with Democrats is unlikely to deter Cuomo from pushing his gun-control agenda. But it ought to serve as a warning to moderate Democrats in the House and Senate (remember them?) as they look toward 2014.

Oh, wait — it already has.

The ignorance of Cuomo's State of the State rant "No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer" still haunts every New Yorker who has a real understanding of the second amendment. And we will never forget that he said it.

I think we should stop and think carefully about this, after all, having an open mind is the first step toward finding great solutions.

Here is my proposal.

In all states that have a gun ban supporting governor, in their largest cities where they have a gun ban supporting mayor...we should pilot the program for banning guns.

Make it illegal to own a lethal weapon of any sort in New York, LA, Oakland, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington DC, ...and let's give a good three years to see how well it is enforced. Throw in Detroit, St. Louis and New Orleans.

Here's the rest of my proposal:

Make it a mandatory life sentence for anyone committing a violent act who:

a)belongs to a known street gang;

b)has been previously convicted of a felony

I would vote for this program. And...I believe, we will see whether gun bans are the answer to stopping violent crimes with guns. Because if you want to study gun violence, go to where the violence with guns takes place.

Andrew Cuomo has officially went from a reformist who's done decent things, to a leftist influenced governor of a leftist state.

Has everyone forgotten the Anrew Cuomo who helped the housing bubble break at Fanny Mae, the Andrew Cuomo who grandstanded as NY Atty General in order to make name recognition with the standard Democrat low information voter, the Andrew Cuomo who is a reformist only to the extent that it improves his chances at the ballot box? The control freak with a case of burning stupid? That Andrew Cuomo?

The guy shouldn't be electable as official village idiot, let alone governor. Only in New York.
