Fire them. Fire them all. Wait — they can’t be fired. They’re in unions. So they get guaranteed employment until retirement age and then pensions for life. And they don’t even have to do their jobs.
TAYLOR, Mich. – The Taylor School District will be closed down Tuesday because of the high number of staff that have either called in sick or are taking personal days to attend rallies in Lansing.
Superintendent Diane Allen told Local 4 there isn’t enough teachers to cover classrooms, so the all schools will be closed for the day. She said she had heard from a principal about where the teachers were going.

And…apparently the journalist who wrote this up and used the singular verb “IS” (isn’t) for a plural object “teachers” are (sic) also a product of our fine unionized educational system.
You know, I feel the union’s pain. So I’m in a compromising mood. How about we give them card check, if they give us right to work?
Bryan,
It isn’t the fact that they’re teachers, it isn’t the fact that they’re union that makes them able to get away with this; it’s the fact that feckless politicians, probably bought with illegal contributions from compelled dues, won’t challenge them. An employer that wanted to could easily fire them and make it stick in most jurisdictions.
I find it hard to believe that they can’t find enough substitutes (aka unemployed people with degrees) to fill the classrooms. I hope they count it against snow days.
It’s not for nothng that The Two Districts in question are cancelling classes today.
Taylor and Warren (‘War-n’ to locals) are, in many respects as alike as two differently located coomunities can be.
We’re not talking about any large number of honor students or potential ‘really smart Citizens’ here and you only have to go and subject yourself to these ‘outposts of mental nullity’ to see what lies in wait, out there.
In Other Words, it ain’t no big whoop, as these teachers just might be a part of what ails these two places. Keep ‘em away for a month, use substitutes, and compare. The results just might be telling…..
The most commonly heard phrase in either community, without exception,
is “Yee—Haw!!…..”
We saw this all in Wisconsin — parents across the state suddenly had to find childcare for a few days because their kids’ teachers all ran off to Madison to protest. Some teachers dragged their students to the protests and encouraged them to shout anti-Walker slogans. “Doctors” wrote fake sick notes for those teachers who then used them to claim sick-day pay.
(Note to Michiganders: Parents/taxpayers were not happy and were not persuaded to side with the teachers. Let them act up. They don’t realize they’re harming their own cause.)
