Vice President Joe Biden’s admission that the middle class has been buried during the Obama years could not have come at a better time for the Romney campaign. The president is holed up in a weird Vegas resort, cramming for the first debate and complaining that it’s a “drag.” Wednesday night’s debate is all about the economy. The comment has given the Romney/Ryan ticket some wind at its back as Romney and Obama head into that debate. Either the moderator or, more likely, Romney will bring the comment up and make Obama twist to explain it.
Here’s Paul Ryan pouncing on the comment on the campaign trail today.
RYAN: Vice President Biden said just today, that the middle class over the last four years has been, quote, buried. We agree. That means we need to stop digging by electing Mitt Romney the next President of the United States!
Of course the middle class has been buried. They’re being buried by regulations, they’re being buried by taxes, they’re being buried by borrowing. They’re being buried by the Obama administration’s economic failures.
Gas prices: Up 105% since Barack Obama’s inauguration. We’re being buried by that too.
