Many blogs have linked over the last few hours to “quickmeme,” a user-friendly insta-meme site which allows users to add their own captions to specific photos. Yesterday someone started a thread with the now-classic photo of Mohammed filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula getting arrested by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department — and already there are over 1,000 submissions.
(The photo in its original context can be found here.)
The idea has really taken off, but the problem with quickmeme is that the outstanding efforts — and there have been many of them so far — tend to get overwhelmed by the also-rans.
So, as a service to meme-meisters everywhere, I have plucked what I think are the best of the best from the crowded field and am now presenting them here for your amusement and outrage. (And if you have an idea for a brilliant caption of your own, just click on the site’s “Add your own caption button,” type it in, and paste the resulting URL in the comments section below!)
I encourage everyone to download their favorites from the ones presented here and repost them on your own sites, upload them to your Facebook pages, tweet them to your followers…and spread the meme!

Thank you, Zombie.
I sincerely hope this leaves a gigantic mark.
Maybe the last should be:
I’m Barack Obama and I disapprove of his message.
Or: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.
Relax, folks. Mr. Naokoula will back among us shortly, surely proclaiming, despite himself, his love for Big Brother.
A love he will continue to show until the jihadist bullet enters the back of his head.

I like this one !
Funny, I was just about to say it didn’t work–needs tweeking a bit.
Didn’t he get arrested for violating his parole or something? It doesn’t have to do with the movie itself.
Sure.
It’s not that Obama, Hillary, the Ambassador to Egypt are yelling against him instead of yelling (and something more) against the islamic terrorists, it’s just a good law enforcement operation.
You do deserve this “president”.
If it was an anti-Christian film and an immediate attempt was made to bring the guy in on something else, no matter how valid it might seem, the Left (esp. Hollywood) would be at DEFCON 1 right now, and Code Pink would be flinging stuff at government officials. I mean, how much character crap has Hollywood let slide because someone fought or was affected by the blacklist? So I honestly don’t want to hear it.
The Federal government went on a hunt to find out who Sam Bacile was, and I think they were doing it with the intention of finding a weakness to get charges on. Regardless of who Sam Bacile turned out to ultimately be. So, while I truly appreciate your statement, I hope you understand mine.
In my opinion, this was a witchunt born out of a belief that if you attack Islam you are guilty of a hate crime–just that the appropriate statute doesn’t exist, so they’ll find some other way to excommunicate you from society. In this case, they got luckier than they had a right to. Next time they’ll just find something bogus to bring he guy into wuestionng for–because in this over-regulated society we live in, we *all* are usually in violation of something trivial or the other.
I’m still skeptical that Nakoula was arrested simply for the movie, but now that you mention it, they WERE looking for Sam Bacile even before they knew who exactly he was. Maybe the movie has more to do with it than I thought…
Typically, parole violations are not handled with late-night raids and arrests. They’re handled by the parole officer filing some paperwork, and the parolee turning themselves in. If they fail to turn themselves in, then an arrest warrant is filed.
And it seems overboard to use this much force to arrest someone who has never had a record of violence.
Parole violation? Let me guess, Dog the Bounty Hunter wasn’t available, so we sent out the swat tea to arrest this guy?
Yeah, it’s about the movie. They just won’t admit it.
Not a “parole” violation, a “probation” violation. Not that it makes it any better or worse. These things are simply not handled this way. The guy had a lawyer. The probation officer calls the lawyer and asks him to bring the guy in. The guy comes in with his lawyer. They all talk. That’s pretty much how these things usually go, so I’m told.
This was theater to show the Islamic world Obama was seriously about anti-blasphemy in the US.
I got a bridge you might be interested in purchasing…
As was pointed out on a Glenn Reynolds Instapundit post, since when do FBI, Sheriff’s Office and the media show up at midnight for a parole check-up and questioning? If he did violate parole, why so many different law enforcement agencies? Why is there no parole officer among the group? Why the FBI? Why midnight? For his safety? For privacy?
” … since when do FBI, Sheriff’s Office and the media show up at midnight …”
Glenn Reynolds’ commentary on this whole thing is stellar.
But further to his comments, and in regards to the media being at a midnight roust, let me suggest that it’s when the media no longer attend the early-morning round-ups that you have real trouble. (And how far in the future is that?)
The fact that this photo exists to be shopped is the only positive in this whole disgraceful episode.
Actually I disagree. The media is there to provide the photo to show everyone what happens when you cross Islam and this President. It’s no accident the media are there. The photo was taken on purpose. This man is not only a scapegoat, he’s being used as a public display to the Muslims and serving as a warning to the rest of us. It’s a statement.
Obama already has the power to pull people out of their homes in the middle of the night and to hold them indefinitely. Remember that bill he said that gosh darn it, was troubling, but he signed it anyway?
I think you’re both right. It’s disturbing that the press was there AND COVERED IT THE WAY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WANTED, and it would be much, much worse if the press didn’t consider the late-night arrest of a man who made a film that made the administration uncomfortable newsworthy.
The first shows how deeply corrupted the press has become.
The second would show how commonplace punishing speech has become.
Thank God we’re not at the second point, yet. God help us that we’re at the first.
You know, make an example of them, crucify them…
Is that what the ObamaFuhrer told you to say? Dupe!
Can anyone imagine the furor is Bush had done such?
Any idea how many million parolees are thought to be likely in violation of minor terms of parole by their parole officers and are going unpunished? Any idea how many felonies you’ve committed this year?

He wasn’t arrested. I expected better from PJ Media.
Was he free to go on his way? Could he have left the presence of the officers without them objecting or interfering?
No?
And if you look closely, you’ll see his hands are behind his back — either held there or because he’s in handcuffs.
He was under arrest. No amount of spin to defend your Beloved Tyrant, The Won, will change that fact.
Let me guess…
He had four deputies there because he made a video about a kitten sleeping in a sunbeam.
Awwwww, you’re disappointed. That’s sad.

Thanks Zombie,
For giving some recognition to the people that took the time to make the meme. I’m not in your shoes, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to promote a meme one day, and forget about it the next…
Who’s going to make that 3 am phone call?
I haven’t seen it explained yet how uploading a perfectly legal video to YouTube could possibly be a parole violation.
As I understand it, the THEORY is that his parole required him to not use computers, or to only use them for work or some such. Since the video was on YouTube, the theory goes, he clearly used a computer.
Except that it’s no guarantee that HE uploaded the video. Or edited it. Or did anything except organize its production.
Excellent photos. We should plaster copies of the one that says “Remember in November” everywhere we can. Bulletin boards, walls, whatever.
Oh….What does “where am I in the village” mean?
“Where am I?”
“In the village.”
…is a reference to the ’60s TV show “The Prisoner,” in which an ex-spy finds himself trapped in a surrealistic totalitarian prison-village. The reference is particularly apt because in the show he has no idea why he’s being punished — and an all-seeing police state watches his every move.
Don’t forget, Obama has signed into law 900+ Executive Orders, all designed to strip away from every American, their Constitutional Rights.
This travesty of justice for this filmmaker is but one example…another more recent is Mr. Zimmerman in Florida.
We The People are now under a tyranny that hasn’t any viable plan for America or American’s:
Morsi (winner of Egypt’s first ever ‘democratic elections’) moves Islam ever closer to its dream of a Caliphate and Ahmadinajahd, while attending RIO20, was elated as well.
The raging internal argument (among Islamist’s) is if a Caliphate’s seat will be located in either of two geographical areas: 1) WTC-World Trade Center, or 2) Jerusalem.
Muslim Brotherhood, with CAIR, are actively having this debate behind closed doors. Mosque proliferations across Every state in the USA will continue as planned. Islamists, united with Athiest’s and minor sects, are successfully driving wedges between US community religions having Judeo-Christian fundaments and US Constitutional Law.
Redefining separation of State and Religion has its main premise based upon: 1) religion and, 2) an amorphous redefinition of STATE(ACLU is undertaking this task).
This argument, by ACLU, will manifest itself more and more…forcing ALL Judeo-Christians further and further to “cower in the shadows.” Another instance of this happened in a European nation during the 1920′s and 1930′s with disasterous results. God Bless America. Amen.
So, if an American has a Judeo-Christian heritage, under this new redefinition of separation of religion and state, any identified “Judeo-Christian” must now “cower in the shadows” and never profess their religious convictions subject to a lawsuit by ACLU alleging infringement of a new, redefinition of an “amorphous STATE.”
THIS is the true nature of Radical Islamists…and they’re all around us, right HERE IN THE USA. Wake-up, America!!!
Mr. Obama has not honored his Oath of Office, “Defend and Protect the United States Constitution.”
Vote,Vote,Vote for Gods sake!!!

If he were saying there are five, it would indicate capitulation.
Saying there were three is just… I don’t know. Wrong?

About a dozen so far.
Read the Quran, you ignorants: Sura 9.11
Much as I agree that free speech isn’t really protected anymore, I seem to remember a lot of people getting rounded up during the bush administration. A lot of them are still in Guantanomo, remember when he dropped habeas corpus as a requirement to detain and retain? I noticed that Obama has not exactly loosened the patriot provisions, seems to enjoy his “freedom” from his perspective.
On a similar note, when you bash conservatives you get a violent verbal response on talk radio, bash liberals you get crying on TV and false indignation, but when you criticize certain faiths you get a bomb up your @zz. Which one would you regulate to keep a lid on things? I agree that we should all be able to take our lumps, but there is the reality that in this world you need to be able to take the consequences of your criticisms/actions. You can’t yell fire in a theater without getting in a boatload of trouble unless there is a fire. Its a crying shame we can’t all speak our minds, but I know better how to pick my battles and keep a lower profile than that guy.
The people that Bush arrested and put in Guantanamo were enemy combatants captured on the field of battle and/or known terrorists who have killed or planned to kill.
The person in the picture overdubbed some dialog in a trailer for a poorly acted film.
These two things are not the same.
What a pathetic life you must lead, always stooping when a firm backbone is called for. How many of your Shakespearean thousand deaths have you experienced so far?

Can’t access the meme site, so here’s my caption, FWIW:
“Muhammed Doesn’t Have A Face Either”
Our First Amendment rights don’t protect us from the consequence(s) of exercising that right – which is why some speech does not enjoy protection. But, it’s scary when our own government not only unilaterally decides that foreigners apparently have more freedom of speech than we do, but overtly defends their speech at our expense.
Thanks for reading!
I had a little conversation with workplace liberals who had strong ideas about this situation (he was a BAD man who should have expected consequences).
The thing is, said liberals had no idea what a “Coptic Christian” even was.
I really get tired of people who have strong opinions with weak knowledge.
