I remember every single detail of that day as if it happened yesterday. I remember seeing fighter jets scrambling out of Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, as I was renting an oceanfront home for the week. I also remember being too frightened to get on the return flight from Logan that Saturday, even though they had just lifted the flight ban on Friday. We drove home in the rental car, right past NYC, which was still smoldering and we encountered funeral processions of firefighters.
I think there were American flags on every overpass between Cape Cod and Richmond.
I sure miss the days of national unity that was omnipresent in those first few days after the attacks.
I remember.
And I remember the Heroes of the NY Police and Firefighters.
And I remember the Heroes of Flight 93, our First Victory against the barbarian islamists.
And I remember that while I am typing, the browser tells me to capitalize “islamist” but does not tell me to capitalize “christian”.
Forget, never.
Remember, always.
