The meltdown in Charlotte continues. The DNC convention got off to a great start when two drunk conventioneers caused a disturbance in a hotel and one had to be hospitalized. Then the CA state chairman Godwinned himself by calling Republicans Nazis. Then the MA state chairman went straight for the stereotypes in an ill-considered attack on Sen. Scott Brown.
The MA chairman spoke at the same breakfast meeting in which the CA chair made the Nazi remark, saying: “We’ve also experienced Scott Brown. We’ve got to say a few good things about him: He handsome, right? He’s still got the coat. He’s still got the truck. He’s a regular guy. I mean, he spent a couple million dollars folding towels on TV to prove he’s an honorary girl. We appreciate that.”

Notwithstanding this palooka’s attack on Scott Brown’s manliness, it’s a simple fact that the Senator came to DC as a man of relatively modest means. His 2010 disclosure shows net worth between $835,000 and $2,250,000. Both Brown and his wife (a TV reporter) must work to provide for themselves and their children as well as maintain residences in both DC and Massachusetts. The person Brown presents in his campaign ads is almost certainly very close to the actual man, including the truck, the coat and the laundry.

Any Republican, conservative, or classical libertarian with any wealth beyond the median income either A) stole it, or more frequently B) inherited it from someone who stole it; and always (no exceptions) uses it exclusively to live a life of vulgar, excessive luxury. Meanwhile, the fortunes of wealthy Democrats and leftists are governed by these iron laws: A) They’re not really fortunes, just a couple of bucks more than the median income; B) Every penny came from honest hard work and is fully deserved; C) Whatever they don’t spend for the bare necessities of life (which include that second and/or third home for badly needed relaxation, that fleet of vehicles for essential mobility, that locally grown organic specialty produce for health, etc.) is spent for the good of “the community” or “the Earth.” Now do you understand?
