Dan M. sends these photos from South Carolina. You can see through the windows in the second photo that the dining room is packed, and the line to order is out the door.
Clayton Cramer sends this photo from Boise State University. He wishes to thank the loving, tolerant tyrants of the left for introducing him to a new chicken spot. Note to Clayton: The chicken at the freestanding restaurants is always better than at the food court versions.
Dick C. sends in this photo from Georgetown, TX. Dick reports: At 1:00 we went for lunch today at the CFA in Wolf Ranch Shopping Center. My wife and I had to park in the adjacent mall parking lot and walk over. We stood in line for 35 minutes to order. The drive-thru had cars going back out to Hwy 29. The lines snaked all through the restaurant. The greeter said it had been like that since they opened at 6:30 am.
Steve N., Plano, TX:
Ann K. sends a link to a slideshow of the lines in Bryan/College Station, TX (home of the Aggies), and a news story about the local response to the Chick-Fil-A appreciation day.
And it’s evident today that Chicago values chicken, along with the freedom to think for oneself. Seriously.
Pro-tip for the Chick-Fil-A haters: If you’re really trying to persuade anyone to your point of view, you’re doing it wrong.
Update: Los Angeles TV report. Pat Boone was there to get lunch. According to a tweet that flashed by, the CFA in Paramus, NJ, served more than 3,000 people today and had to send people out to buy more buns.
Update: Georgia. You have to see the drive-thru line to believe it.
Update: Greg C. sends this image from Phoenix, AZ, along with this report: About an hour wait. 108 degrees. Employees brought out umbrellas water and free food.
My sister texted me earlier to tell me that the customer in front of her “paid forward” for her ticket, and that the CFA clerk told her that people had been doing the same all day long. My sis didn’t break the chain.

I wanted to patronize the free-standing store on Mopac on the south side of Austin. I couldn’t get near the place, so I had to settle for Schlotzsky’s.
Mmmm Schlotzsky’s.
– Popeye’s? Chicken ‘n biscuits!
Popeye’s and Churches are owned by devout Muslims.
Not anymore. Now they are owned by Friedman Fleischer & Lowe a venture capitol firm.
– the Obama Drones are taking names, numbers and orders?
Now if we can just get this turn out for Romney in November (remember that Romney’s values are NOT the same as Chicago, Rahm E.’s, and Obama’s values either)
Forget buying advertising, forget fancy marketing. Today’s successful business model is simply pissing off the left.
Maybe I’ll rethink that sock monkey business I’ve been dreamin of.
ROFL! Damn Sam, if I weren’t a guy I’d kiss you! Great post.
Chick-fil-A for Freedom!
Greenwood, IN location has had the drive thru line around the building and down the street all day. Dining room has 5 lines out the door. News cameras earlier. Been by twice today.
I tried to eat at CFA today, but couldn’t even get onto the property, it was that packed. Then on the local news radio, they were doing CFA updates with the traffic alerts … lol
Shades of Robin Williams rattling -the-throat “Traffic Update” in “Good Morning, Vietnam”!
Saw this comment and wanted to share:
“Freedom is delicious–tastes like chicken”.
I don’t know about Michelle Obama but I am proud of our country for standing up to the thugs who try to intimidate and take away our freedom.
Here here! I stood in line with young and old, men and women, rich and poor, black and white, asians and hispanics.
All proud americans who is sick and tired of the fascist left and their political anticsto silence free speech. I am so proud of my countrymen!
All I got to say is “It’s about time!” Today,Chick Fil A stands up to the gay Nazis, maybe tomorrow we stand up to the health food Nazis and I can get a decent-sized hamburger without a government official taking a bite out of it before it gets to my table.
Like you all, I am EXTREMELY tired of being told what to do by these “people”. The CFA Appreciation Day is what I hope will be the shot across the bow that heralds the start of a new age of freedom in this country that has been infested by these Nanny Statists for far too long.
It sure looks like a backlash. Cathy’s comments were some of the most inert comments in history to ever be controversial.
Cathy’s comments were basically:
- He supports Christian sexual ethics when it comes to marriage.
- He thinks we should be mindful of God when making changes to an institution that he believes God created.
Even if you don’t share these views, surely you can understand that they are not extreme. But he has been treated like a Grand Wizard.
I would like to think that a lot of the backlash is over how hysterical the reaction has been.
No, if he was treated as a ‘grand wizard’, he would have been elected the democratic party’s senator for life from WV
Good one!
I’m just a run of the mill conservative racist homophobic misogynist with no particular ax to grind. What boys and girls do in the privacy of their bedroom is of no concern to me. I support gay civil unions. I do not favor redefining the concept of marriage. I am getting tired of the in-your-face tactics practiced by some in the gay comunity. If they adapt the economic blackmail strategy, a specialty of Jesse Jackson, the gay community will lose friends and gain enemies.
I feel the same way. That is why I went. When one group asserts its rights by stepping on that of another, that makes me mad. That is NOT my America. I didnot don the uniform for one group over another. I did it for everyone–gay straight or otherwise. What you in your own place, is your business, but when you are “in my face” and telling me I must comply, that is mine.
Stood for an hour and a half in line at the Northshore Mall in Peabody Massachusetts. Massachusetts? Who would have thought? Met some lovely people on line, too.
Went to Chick-fil-a after work last night. Got to Paramus Pk. Mall at 8p. There was a line from the counter that stretched about 100 ft along the banaster to the second fl. food court, back along a wall for another 75, along another banaster over a first fl. entrance, and back into a service corridor that snaked thru behind 10-12 other businesses. I was 427th in line. There were still people coming as of 9:30. When I talked to the security guard. He said that the lunch crowd started lining up when the Mall opened and grew as the day progressed. He stopped counting how many people came. I was served at 10:00 by some happy, but very tired kids. Everyone was smiling laughing. It was like a party. I met some very nice people. Some were there for religious reasons, but all were there for freedom of speech. When I left the Mall at 10:15, they were still serving. People were still in line waiting patiently.
There are two distinct groups of Chick-fil-A supporters. There are those who support their right to exist and have had enough of liberals punishing anyone who disagrees with them. Then there are those who are anti-homosexual who are supporting Chick-fil-A to reenforce Dan Cathy’s position. You can see that easily by the different sorts of comments here.
Excuse me? I don’t see a single anti-homosexual comment hear. Do you mean that to support traditional marriage is anti-homosexual? I just thought that it was pro marriage as has been defined for the past two thousand years. And if you disagree with Obama your a racist? And if you hold open the door for a woman your a misogynist? Possibly this is a bit too nuanced for you, Ken.
“Chick-fil-A stands up to the gay Nazi’s….”
Too much nuance for me clearly. I thought this was anti-gay. What do I know?
Not much, apparently. The ‘gay Nazi’ references the in-your-face behaviour and intolerance of some representatives of the gay community. Perhaps you haven’t noticed. More likely, you suffer liberal tunnel vision.
carla – So you and the other poster are fine with gays, it’s just their PR campaign style you don’t like?
……I’m sure it’s just me, but I got the vibe that you and the other poster didn’t really appreciate homosexuals, not just the uppity in-your-face ones.
Ken C:
‘appreciate homosexuals’?? Is that a new requirement? Must we also appreciate their lifestyle and its unfortunate consequences? Is it time for a National Celebrate Sodomy day? Whadya think, Ken C, are you picking up any new vibes?
All I did was point out the two schools of thought running through the Chick-fil-A supporters (anti-intolerance and anti-gay). You claim no anti-gay comments here. I’m pointing out that there are some. You’ve veered off into debating other issues and accusing me of being someone I’m not. You have made my point that there is an anti-gay component of the comments very well.
Ken C:
Gee, Ken, I didn’t realize the issue boiled down to either anti-gay or anti-intolerance. I thought it was about the efforts of some to force a redefinition of marriage. That those efforts eminate from the gay community is irrevelant. There are some who would like to formalize their relationship with their favorite sheep. I’d be against that as well. This is not a great new civil rights crusade. It’s an attempt to subvert an institution. The intolerance is largely a product of the Left; to dare disagree with the liberal’s world view is heresy, as evidenced by your postings.
carla – You are obsessed with arguing with someone I am not, about an issue I didn’t bring up. The sum total of my comment is that you can’t assume everyone who is supporting Chick-fil-A has the same viewpoint. Some do not agree with Dan Cathy, but they do support his right to his opinion. Some agree and are supporting his exact position. If you want to rail on about the question of homosexuality, feel free – but find someone who wants to engage with you on that topic.
Ken C
It’s is amusing how you keep trying to frame the debate. Obama does that quite often; lots of strawmen opponents. But you see, Ken, the real debate is about the attack on the institution of marriage. It was you, I believe, that injected the homophobic dimension. I’m pro-gay and pro-sheep, but that is besides the point. I’m also pro-life and anti-abortion; becasue ‘pro-choice means abortion. You did that to discredit those who take offense at the concept of gay marriage. You see, it’s not a matter of anti-gay, it’s a matter of pro-marriage. Marriage as defined historically and traditionally for the past 2,000 + years. It’s a direct attack on custom and religion. Part and parcel of the moral equivalency crusade. Somethings don’t need changing, Ken. It’s tough trying to convince a closed mind. And so it goes.
There only seems to be one group of Chick-fil-A haters, though: anti-Christian gay fascists who can’t stand to see people exercising their 1st Amendment rights.
Iowahawk tweeted:
I’m okay with gay marriage. I’m just don’t like seeing it promoted with Westboro Baptist tactics.
Any pictures of masses of people lining up outside JC Pennies to buy unisex clothing?
MSM headlines:
AMERICANS DEEPLY PERPLEXED ABOUT SEXUAL ORIENTATION.
Congress scrambles to legislate proper sexual etiquette before election of first black, bisexual president.
God bless Americans! And Wendy’s for supporting CFA:)
The local CFA on route 130 here in Hamilton NJ was packed solid all day.
Considering the huge lines and long waits, I didn’t read any reports of tempers flaring or fights breaking out.
Wow. I thought we were supposed to be a bunch of queer hating savages.
Could the MSM be mistaken?
Update from Mechanicsburg.
The drive-thru wasn’t closed as much as it was closed off. Driving by a second time (my son and I went out for dinner, saw the lines, and were too hungry to wait for a couple hours – literally), I saw some cars in the drive-thru. I think most people just parked, rather than navigate through the crowds.
Local news report (video to be added, they say):
News story
I didn’t have time to stand in line or sit in drive-thru at one of the many CFAs in Raleigh yesterday. I did drive by one on my way home from work and honked and thumbs-upped.
I went to CFA for breakfast this morning. While not crowded you could feel a buzz in the place. The Operator was talking to another customer about how nuts it was yesterday. I got the chicken biscuit and a side order of the First Amendment. Delish.

Might want to go Friday.
Homosexuals and lesbians plan to have a kiss in day at Chick-fil-A tomorrow. It is typical of them, very childish. Ever notice that most homosexuals seem to act in an immature manner like a bunch of teenagers? The kiss-in is more about getting in your face, sort of like a teenager trying to get adults angry. And homosexuals wonder why the adults in society treat them like children?
Went to a Chik Fil a in SoCal, two young gentleman in front of me were laughing and quite happy to see the large crowd. They turned to others in line and insisting on ‘high five for the first amendment’.
This for most really was a reaction against the politicians- our paid employees– abusing their positions to suppress not just free speech but any thoughts or ideas they disapprove of.
Line moved really fast, they had really anticipated and planned for the surge. And oddly, the staff had no interest in finding out what your sexual orientation was, what your position was on gay marriage or any other issue, they simply wanted to sell you their product as efficiently as possible.
I plan on going to the ‘kiss in’ day to show my support for the gay community exercising their first amendment rights. I’m straight, believe any sex outside of marriage is immoral, but I have no problems with the gay community expressing their views in a peaceful manner.
I was going to go to CFA yesterday here in Jax Fl, but couldn’t get near the place at 4:30PM.
Me sweet wife also joined the long lines yesterday.
But here’s the icing on the cake.
Yesterday, Rick Warren, head pastor of the Saddleback mega-church in California received a call from Chick-Fil-A’s founder Dan Cathy. Warren then tweeted…
“@dancathy just called me. # ChicFilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hrs to go in the West. #OutOf Chicken ”
The Chick-Fil-A management also confirms a record-setting day.
Folks… if the lines this November are anything like yesterday, a certain community organizer will promptly be sent back to where he came from.
Keep passing the word… and get involved.
David. How many Obama voters do you think are in the CFA crowds? Zero would be my guess.

Have been looking at all of the posts here. I find it interesting that there are no anti-CFA posts here. I guess in their view, exercising your first amendment rights must be a terrible sin.
You can post what you want, if you like. We are not as closed-minded as we have been portrayed. Our views are just different. Not all Christians are like WESTBORO.
The Christian mission is to preach the truth in love, not beat you up with it. If you don’t want to hear, then don’t listen. But be respectful.
The truth is hard, but it is a catharsis when you let it sink in.
Have a nice day. Peace.
You could just rename the event overweight homophobes eat fried chicken sandwiches day.
Marriage ceremonies are required by the State if the couple wishes to have legal status in the event they divorce, if one spouse dies, or in any other instance where it is necessary to have lawful intercourse as a couple. Homosexuals can do all that. The marriage that counts is the personal commitment of a man and wife. God recognizes this commitment and cares not a whit whether the State concurs. God made man and woman to be fruitful and multiply. If progeny had not been necessary, they could just have been pals. Homosexuals do not want marriage, per se, they want to be recognized by everyone as being acceptable. They are not satisfied with being left alone to form unions, they want to adopt children or use artificial insemination in the case of lesbians because their unions are sterile and cannot propagate alone. We must all agree that they are normal in their sexual appetites. Even then, I doubt they will feel good about themselves. Take a look at the parades they put on; see how they decided to counter the Chick-fil-A support with sexual demonstration. Their entire lives are built on the sex act, their art, literature – everything. We have sympathy; but, we cannot approve. Who cares, they can do as they like. If we love God, we also don’t approve of sexual promiscuity. But, if people do it, we don’t try to stop them.
My wife and I went to one of the few Chick-fil-A’s in San Diego last night, outside of the Sports Arena Center. The line wrapped around on itself several times, and total wait time was 3 hours. It didn’t feel like a chore at all, it was actually quite fun. We left after 10 and there was still a line out the door.
It was like a party. People were laughing and having a good time. Cars in the drive thru line occasionally honked, with people and their kids leaning out cheering. An enterprising young man (not by himself of course, but with the help of the government) was selling little helicopter-type toys with glowing lights, and the kids would throw them up in the air. My wife and her friend started a couple of rounds of “the wave”, but I don’t think anyone got it on video. There were also some folks there from a local church for a few hours, singing and clapping and holding signs and playing music.
The crowd was black, white, hispanic, and asian, with old, middle-age, young, and children.
Huge crowds in Colorado Springs. Couldn’t get in – will have breakfast there tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I hear that gay folks plan a “kiss-in”. What about a counter-protest? Taking care not to break any laws, Chick-fil-A supporters could surround these “kiss-in” folks, crowd close, stare at them, recite Scripture, chant or mock them. Again, break no laws. This is the kind of thing folks on the left do routinely, so why not fight fire with fire? Part of the reason the left does things like boycotts and rude protests is that they get away with it and there are no repercussions.
Which left winger do we need to thanks for this? The same backfire happened in the WI Recall.
I would say the G*L Front bit off a whole bunch more than they could chew.
I’ve been telling them for years I didn’t GAS about what they did behind closed doors. And I also told them I would not tolerate ANYONE demanding that I accept or condone it.
If you don’t have a huge amount of time to spend, find a Chick Fil A in a small town and visit about half an hour before closing time. You’ll still have to wait, but not as long.
Great food and great service!
I missed the appreciation day. maybe I will go tomorrow during the Kiss In. Tastes great any day you buy it. Maybe the receipts for Friday’s Kiss In will be just as great as Appreciation Day.
I hope no viri are exchanged in swapping spit on Friday. Don’t want any group to go back to the HIV, AIDS, Hep C Eighties.
It’s Friday… I won’t mind if people kiss in my restaurant as long as they buy something too. You can’t come in and then not order anything.
I’m waiting for a “Kiss-in” at a mosque, I would pay to see that.
Perhaps with this event, we can send a message to our friends on the left side of the aisle, as well as our republican politicians, that we are fed up with political correctness, and we are ready for a revolution that places our Constitution back in the forefront of society. Hopefully, this is the first nail in the coffin of not only political correctness, but liberalism/socialism/progressivism/communism. Capitalism and conservatism work everytime it is tried. What will it take to wake the people up to the fact that al-Obama is not a good guy? Semper Fi.
