And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton goes there to brag about it.
In an apparent effort to soothe concerns that the United States will abandon Central Asian as soon as its engagements in Afghanistan are wound down, investments enthusiastically backed by Washington are trickling in.
General Motors stepped up its local presence in November by opening a new engine plant. The GM Uzbekistan joint venture, in which the U.S. company controls a 25 percent stake, provides work for around 6,600 people and turns out 200,000 Chevrolet passenger vehicles annually.
Are these Uzbek jobs union jobs or non-union jobs?
American taxpayers still own a quarter of GM itself. Thus should end the Obama campaign’s complaints about Bain Capital outsourcing, when the bailed out automaker is outsourcing thousands of jobs. Those 6,600 jobs would look awfully good pretty much anywhere in the United States right about now.

Let’s not forget that when GM became Government Motors only union jobs were “saved.” Folks at two non-union plants in Ohio were fired and the plants closed. That’s “in sourcing” Obama style.
Obama has said that he has “got America’s back.” But Uzbek has he really got?
BuzzSawMonkey wins the thread!
“Those 6,600 jobs would look awfully good pretty much anywhere in the United States right about now.”
Oh Bryan, Bryan, Bryan. Those views are so 1950s, where we exported to the world and had confidence in ourselves. We in the United States, and especially the white portion of it, must simply “hari kari” ourselves to atone for the sins of the past.
Namely, being more successful than others with other systems. Makes ‘em look bad, you know.
How Obama Stimulates the US Economy:
Canadian buses. Brazilian oil. ME oil. Brazilian planes. Fisker fiascos. And now, Uzbeki engines?
Is it time to do a roundup of all the jobs, contracts and taxpayer dollars the Outsourcer in Chief has sent outside our borders?
It’s all about helping a Muslim country at the expense of US taxpayers.
Not only that, when Cadilac announced their new “ATS” my wife was excited. The next day I looked for the car and a release timeline. What I found was that GM was opening 600 dealerships in China and the new “XTS” and the new “ATS” would both be built there. They say these are for the Chinese market to avoid import tarrifs but only time will tell.
Well I will not be buying a Government Motors car and I am certainly not buying a Chinese made car. So much for his saving the auto industry and keeping jobs in America.
I wondered why the ATS was so slow in coming.
But they don’t have to build Chevy Volts there, or run the vehicles on ethanol.
So, why, I wonder isn’t the Romney campaign using this in defense of the attacks on him?
