KLBJ in Austin, TX has posted a story today that the IRS offices in Austin are undergoing an audit, after a whistleblower spoke out:
The IRS is now the focus of a year-long audit, thanks to federal employees who are blowing the whistle. Howard Antelis is a tax examiner at the IRS’s ITIN processing center in Austin, Texas. The large, unmarked building in south Austin is where the IRS decides whether to issue an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number to the millions of illegal immigrants who apply for them. An ITIN allows undocumented workers to file tax returns and pay taxes, a legal requirement for those who earn income in the United States … even those who come to the country illegally.
But 13 Investigates discovered the ITIN system is plagued by abuse and fraud. A four-month Eyewitness News investigation documented how many illegal immigrants use ITINs to get tax credits and refunds they’re not entitled to. WTHR in Indianapolis also exposed how millions of undocumented workers get their ITIN applications approved using phony documents.
Looks like some crazy version of “international” redistribution has been going on for some time. How much more can our economy take?

It amazes me that while we suffer the effects of illegal immigration (social costs, increase in social services, higher taxes, higher unemployment) the Federal government is doing what it can to help the illegal immigrants prosper (such as that might be). It’s like a farmer not able to understand why his chickens are being killed as fast as he can replace them, and then wondering why the foxes he is raising next to the chickens are getting so fat.
It is amazing. The IRS will target a poor white guy who has worked blue collar jobs all of his life, just getting by, living modestly and frugally,but made a mistake on his return; yet if you are an illegal immigrant you can get away with stealing. Forgive me, but unf@#%ngbelievable. We need more auditing of the IRS. I would like to know if they ever intentionally select individuals for audit based on their political beliefs, single them out, and you know crucify them, make an example. How do we know this does not happen? Why do they go after people who have a modest little existence or someone who has pulled themself up by the bootstraps, but they don’t target the drug dealers for tax audits? The kingpins owe up big time, and if they have grunt workers out on the streets doing their dealing, they need to start paying for their health insurance, SS, unemployment taxes etc. It is time that the oppressive taxation and the tyranny of the IRS gets applied equally to all people, not just as a way to redistribute wealth from one sector of society to another.
Please understand that, although the IRS works for the government, it is not part of the government.

Michelle, I think you may be incorrect here. I also know that an IRS decision to take your stuff, property or money is NOT appellate to the higher courts. Of course, I’ve been wrong before and no offense meant.

IRS is also not accountable to anyone, any agency, acronym or WE THE PEOPLE! I was audited a number of times, all related to the first time because the IRS arbitrarily determined that, as a mechanic, I made money “under the table” and taxed me for what they thought I made that way for 88′ anyway, I mailed in the checks correctly but the envelope was addressed to

I thought I was pretty FN clever but the IRS didn’t see it that way. I was audited 5 more “RANDOM” times over the next 6 years and the last it turned out THEY OWED ME and askded me if I wanted to use it to pay off my college loans and I thought, I don’t have it so I won’t miss it and agreed. Still got a modest return, got my college loan paid off and nothing from the IRS since. LOL bastards and THEY is US! WTF!
