AG Eric Holder Makes New Offer to House

Attorney General Eric Holder may finally be feeling the pressure of a possible contempt of Congress vote against him next week. Earlier today, Holder sent a letter regarding a possible “accommodation” in the standoff between the Department of Justice and the House committee investigating Fast and Furious. That committee, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has requested more than 70,000 pages of documents regarding the scandal, but so far Holder’s DOJ has only turned over about 10% of that number. The contempt vote would count that, as well as the DOJ letter regarding Fast and Furious that the department was forced to retract due to serious factual inaccuracies.

Democrats, meanwhile, have drafted their own response to the possible contempt vote, calling it “unprecedented.”
