An Open Letter to the People Who Hate Republicans More Than THey Love Reason
I meet you all the time. You hate Bush. You hate conservatives. You hate white people, rich people, Christians, libertarians, women who don’t toe the feminist line, you hate em all. You hate intolerance, unless it’s you being intolerant. You hate racism, yet see the color of the skin before you see a person’s character. Maybe if you appreciated the value of America’s heritage as well as racing off toward the new shiny thing, you wouldn’t higlight your ignorance so clearly and indisputably. Maybe if you were as interested in vetting a person’s record as you were in electing the First! Black! President!, the other half of the country wouldn’t question your judgement of character as they are now. Your blind love affair with socialism and social justice has made you ignore the facts of these things, how they destroy countries, populations, demographics, and keep people in poverty. And yet you hate anyone who questions these things, anyone who questions regulation and spending and the Government. You hate.
You like entitlements. You like receiving government handouts. You like living in a prosperous country full of innovation and technological expertise that gives you iPhones and pays the taxes that fuel the welfare state. I don’t know how in the hell any of that is compatible, but no one ever accused you Marxists of understanding how prosperity is created and maintained. America is a melting pot of people and ideas, where the opportunities free to everyone has led to progress and prosperity and wealth unequaled in the history of the world. America has room for all people and all creeds, but it was built on a foundation of Western Civilization and Christian (yes, Christian, much as you hate them) principles that led to a work ethic, a sense of morality, a love of charity, and a concern for all creatures to be free.
Contrary to your belief, most conservative Repuglicans do not hate or demonize anyone who is not a rich, white, heterosexual Christian male or his submissive and obedient wife. Yes, the occasional bigot and racist still exists, but those are on both sides of aisle. And yes, conservative Republicans, even Christians, may disagree with the liberal sense of morality, and may say so, even loudly. But disagreement is not the same as hate. Your confusion of these two terms makes you blind to your own folly and leads you to hate in return for “hate” which usually doesn’t exist in the first place. After all, Christians believe that we are all sinners and saved by grace alone. Is wanting you to also be saved, according to their beliefs, really hate, or is it love? Yes, yes, say that you do not need to be saved, say that you are fine, and because America is free, true conservative Republicans will not try to force you. But don’t confuse their love, foolish as you may believe it to be, with hatred.
Before insisting that conservative Republicans hate all those who are a different color, a different sexual orientation, and a different religion, maybe you should have a look at their pocketbooks. See how much they spend on charities to “spiritually save” or physically help all of these people. Is this truly an expression of hate?
