White House to CBS: rest of media being “reasonable” about Fast and Furious scandal by not covering it
One of the precious few establishment media outlets who have seriously covered the growing Fast & Furious scandal has been CBS News, led by intrepid reporter Sharyl Attkisson. Now the Obama Administration has responded to that coverage by attempting to intimidate Attkisson to move off the story with screaming and yelling.
But in her interview with Laura Ingraham yesterday, Attkisson repeats an admission by the White House that the game has been fixed with respect to the rest of the establishment media’s coverage. At ~8:28 into her interview, she states:
[The White House and Justice Department] will tell you that I’m the only reporter–as they told me–that is not reasonable. They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.
Here’s the whole interview:

I’m completely amazed that CBS is covering F&F.
Wonder when they’ll get around to covering everything else that’s wrong at the DoJ.
This the same Obama that appointed Mark Lloyd as FCC Diversity Czar. Mark Lloyd, who admires Hugo Chavez’s actions and tactics in Venezuela; Tactics that have crushed free speech and the press’s ability to criticize the governement. The same Obama who wishes he could govern the way the chinese governement does. The same Obama who wishes he could get around congress. The same Obama whose henchmen have supplied bloodthirsty drug gangs with thousands of heavy weapons. The same Obama whose party has major elements that seem to now be backing the communists who are calling for revolution just before election season is getting started. The same party that has prominent members calling for the suspension of elections, and high profile supporters talking about re-education camps.
This president and his party have the mentality of a third-world, tin-pot dictatorship. I certainly hope no journalist is taking their threatening attitude and bullying lightly.
The same Obama who, as a candidate, told a FL radio station that it would not “now or in the forseeable future” allow any further interviews,as punishment, b/c the reporter had asked Biden a question he did not like (maturely, Biden had already walked off the set)
The same Obama who, early in his term, tried to ban FOX news. Only the other news outlets’ objections (sensing they might be next, I assume) stopped him.
He is consistent. It’s only now that people are beginning to pay attention.
There is a reason why the first amendment is first; the most critical element of a free and democratic society is free speech, which is necessary for free choice.
Given O’s track record, I can see why he might be objecting to that.
Go Sharyl, go. Keep up the good work CBS and don’t bow to pressure from the thugocracy that is the Obama administration.
Yes, because bringing attention to a scandal that makes Watergate seem like a local police blotter byline in it’s shadow is “unreasonable”. I mean, it only involved taxpayer funded resources to manufacture evidence in support of agenda driven legislation to limit a constitutional freedom. It only contributed to the destabilization of a foreign nation and a massive deathtoll on both sides of the border that will probably continue to grow long after the operation has ended. There’s only a pile of evidence pointing across several federal agencies as well as the very top of the government food chain. It’s only a bunch of public officials committing treason. That’s not newsworthy at all.
But I’m willing to bet they have no problem with multiple day coverage of an offensive word painted on a rock by persons unknown, that happened to be located on some property that Perry’s father used to lease for them to hunt on. Because the actions of an unknown ignoramus with a spraycan are far more important than an agency conspiracy to commit what amounts to an act of treason against it’s own people, as well as what could easily be considered an act of war against a foreign nation, all for the purpose of enacting a political agenda.
2012 cannot come soon enough.
