AFL-CIO Chief Richard Trumka Will Be the First Lady's Guest Tonight

Clarice noted this in her great post below, but it really deserves its own post. And yes, the headline is correct and it’s not a joke. Just a few days after one Big Labor boss called the Tea Party “sons of b*tches” and threatened to “take them out,” and on the very same day that union thugs in Washington State literally took some security guards hostage, the First Lady is having Union Thug #1 as her very special guest for tonight’s portrayal of a president who cares about jobs, starring fledgling actor Barack Obama.

GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt, AOL co-founder and current Revolution LLC CEO Steve Case and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka are among the guests who will be sitting with first lady Michelle Obama Thursday night for President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress.

GE has recently sent jobs once performed in America over to China, after netting tidy sums in the president’s stimuli. Revolution is the bunch behind ZipCars and a few high-end boutique businesses. And Trumka’s presence really speaks for itself. The only question now is whether Obama will go ahead and wear the SEIU purple shirt or not. With Trumka up there in a seat of honor, he might as well.

The rest of the First Lady’s guest list makes it clear, just how partisan the president’s approach will be tonight.

Also sitting with her are a couple of Democratic mayors – Cincinnati’s Mark Mallory and Los Angeles’ Antonio Villaraigosa. The White House also asked Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley to be there, who is also chair of the Democratic Governor’s Association.
