Iran Moves its Nuclear Arsenal, While Obama Licks A Softee

While our Softee-licking President enjoys his happy holiday from reality, Forbes.com reports an AP story today by Ali Akbar Dareini that Iran has announced it is moving some of the key components of its atomic weapons program into a huge mountain to keep them safe from attacks:

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran has moved some of its centrifuges to an underground uranium enrichment site that offers better protection from possible airstrikes, the country’s vice president said Monday.

Engineers are “hard at work” preparing the facility in Fordo, which is carved into a mountain to protect it against possible attacks, to house the centrifuges, Fereidoun Abbasi was quoted as saying by state TV.

Uranium enrichment can be used in one of two ways: to produce nuclear power or to build atomic weapons.  Iran has maintained that it only seeks peaceful uses for its nuclear arsenal, but neither the United States nor its allies believe this cover story.  There is nothing in the history of Iran’s strongman dictator, the Holocaust-denying Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that suggests he’s collecting, and now protecting his centrifuges for anything but lethal purposes.

If these crucial components of atomic bombs are being secreted inside a mountain, it will make it all the more challenging to destroy them.  But while spending $1 billion chasing Qadaffi, who posed no threat to the United States, our government has made no move to destroy the true threat to the Middle East and the world beyond: the nuclear ambitions of a man so deranged he makes Qaddafi seem like a poster boy for sanity by comparison.

As British Conservative politician and former Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson has wisely said,

“To govern is to choose. To appear to be unable to choose is to appear to be unable to govern.”

To choose to go after Qadaffi rather than Ahmadinejad (with whom Obama sought to “engage” through personal meetings that would, naturally, have  persuaded Ahmadinejad to give up his nuclear ambitions and become a model citizen, thanks to a few moments with The One) is a choice that appears to be a major sign of an inability to govern.

Why did you guys leave out the fact that the UN is currently visiting these sites?

”VIENNA (AP) — Iran has allowed a top U.N. atomic inspector access to a site where it is developing advanced centrifuges that can be used to either make nuclear fuel or arm warheads, diplomats told The Associated Press on Tuesday.”

Good. When the time comes the UN will provide the co-ordinates for the super bunker busters.

Man, now he’s ruined the best soft ice-cream ever made.

    This guy ruins everything.

If I was Mr Softee I’d sue him for defamation of character.
