KCRA reports that the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has begun issuing concealed carry permits to law-abiding citizens who state self-defense as their good-cause justification.

Only Guns and Money blog reports this is because of a successful legal battle fought by the Second Amendment Foundation and Calguns Foundation, where they settled out of court with the Sacramento County and Sheriff.
Many residents are concerned for their safety as the budget crisis may cut up to 60 more deputy positions.
The Sheriff’s Office has been dealing with deficits for at least two years. They cut 122 deputies in 2009, and in 2010 laid off 4 more and shut down their training academy and emergency training facility.
