Unbelievable: German judge files criminal complaint against Chancellor Merkel for being glad Osama is dead
German Chancellor Angela Merkel reacted to news that Osama bin Laden had been killed the most Americans did: She said she was glad about it. Now a German judge wants her to answer for that comment in a court of law.
In his two-page document, Uthmann, a judge for 21 years, cites section 140 of the German Criminal Code, which forbids the “rewarding and approving” of crimes. In this case, Merkel endorsed a “homicide,” Uthmann claimed. The violation is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment or a fine.
“For the daughter of a Christian pastor, the comment is astonishing and at odds with the values of human dignity, charity and the rule of law,” Uthmann told the newspaper.
Apparently the Germans have learned nothing from the dangers of politicizing the law and prosecuting thoughtcrimes, even though both have been a dark part of the country’s darkest history. And it’s ironic and yet appropriate somehow that this judge presides in Hamburg. That city was the home base for many of the 9-11 terrorists. The Hamburg cell, which included 9-11 hijacking leader Mohammad Atta, operated right under the noses of German authorities for years. Merkel may have been recounting that in expressing her relief that OBL had died from sudden lead poisoning.
“Politicians, including those within her own center-right coalition, said that no death was cause for celebration, and reproved the remark as un-Christian and vengeful.”
“Un-Christian”? On a continent that has trouble filling its pews? Hamburg? Reports that irony is dead have been exaggerated; proof that Germans have no ear for it?
Whenever I see reports like this from the EU or Canada, I thank God for the First Amendment.

For a sworn judge, his comment is chilling in a supposedly functioning, modern Western republic. But it is increasingly emblematic, as attested by the trials of Kurt Westergaard (the turban bomb cartoonist), Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a woman convicted of a “hate crime” for stating that Muhammad was a pedophile. (married a six year old, raped her at nine), and Geert Wilders for “offending” Muslims.
The Left is exploiting this type of lawfare to squelch free all speech at odds with the multi-culti destruction of Western Civilization. They are zealously joined by our Muslim enemies, who delight in using our freedoms, our openness, and our technology as weapons for our destruction.
Dream on if you think this exact same dystopian nightmare isn’t coming to America. Some of us have been warning about it for years, usually rewarded with epithets like “racist”, “bigot”, “extremist”, or “ignorant”.
Oh, my goodness, I’m fine with this case. In fact, I’d like to follow its precedent and file a complaint in Germany against every person who expresses support for terrorist actions against the US or Israel.
Can anyone who is familiar with German law help me through the process?
Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way. Waving signs that “Islam will Dominate the World” and calling for the murder of gays, the rape of “indecent” women, and the enslavement of anyone who won’t convert to Islam is protected speech.
Saying you’re glad that an admitted mass-murderer who intended to murder more is dead is hate speech.
I first read of this on the German Yahoo news site. I read the first 20 of the 30 or so comments on the article. All condemned the judge, and many said he was just a publicity hound. He obviously does not speak for all Germans.

I found the story in the archives, but now it says there are no comments. Maybe they don’t save any comments in their archives. But you can rest assured that Germans can see through a publicity seeker like this judge. He has had his 15 minutes of fame. This is not to say that all Germans applaud the killing of OBL or Merkel’s comment, they simply think this guy is a fool.
