The narrative not mentioned – marginalizing Sarah Palin
Today, I appeared on MSNBC with Contessa Brewer to talk about Gov. Sarah Palin and Rep. Michele Bachmann, and their potential 2012 run for president. To MSNBC’s credit, I was given (just about) full time to speak. The other panelist was Princella Smith, a GOP strategist.
When I do a TV interview, I have the control room turn off the monitors. This way, I wont be stealing a glance to see if my shirt is askew or otherwise be distracted. I want to listen, give my full attention, and have no distractions. The interview, as I said, went fine. I did notice, however, that we were talking much more about Bachmann than we were about Palin.
When I got home and saw the interview, I was shocked (but not surprised) to notice that in the lower left corner, the graphic read, “Sarah Who?”
It’s obvious that there are still many in media who are simply frightened by the possibility of a Palin run. Why else would networks go to such great lengths to marginalize their potential candidacy? By placing “Sarah Who?” on a graphic throughout the entire segment, that is the message they were trying to deliver.
If I had seen it on camera, I would have said something about it. You can not count out Sarah Palin. For whatever you might think of her personally or politically, you must recognize that she takes everything thrown her way and comes out on top. It has been three years of non-stop bashing and verbal beatdowns, and she still maintains a solid, ravenous fan base.
MSNBC is smart enough to repeatedly have me on the air, and I applaud them for that. But they shouldn’t push this narrative that Sarah Palin has no shot in 2012. Do not count out Sarah Palin. Ever.

IMO, the person the Democrats fear the most is Sarah Palin. May God bless her as she continues to cause fear among the Democrats.
I suspect that Sarah Palin is a democrat. If she is nominated, a lot of independents like me will be forced to vote for them. SA
@pager You have it wrong. Democrats and liberals love the idea of Sarah Palin running. Many Republicans voted for Obama because of Palin’s ineptness. Run Sarah Run.
Subee – Sarah’s ineptness? She doesn’t hold a candle to Obama’s ineptness. I have lived through 11 presidents, and Obama makes all of them look like giants, even the inept Jimmy Carter.
bush sure did a great job finding iraq’s WMD, catching bin laden, helping new orleans, blowing the surplus, bailing out wall street in spring 2008… and 11 presidents! you must be part of nixon’s “silent majority’ too. too bad your boy goldwater didn’t make it, could of had WWIII…
I am a republican and I can’t stand the woman. She is an embarrassment to the republican party.
Sarah Palin an embarrassment to the Republican Party? Bull. Her record in Alaska speaks for itself. One shining example is that she put an end to the corruption of Alaska’s former Republicans. They were in embarrassment to the Republican Party, not Sarah. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Newt Gingrich are embarrassments to the Republican Party, not Sarah.
Sarah Palin is not my first choice as the Republican presidential nominee. But if it’s a choice between Palin, a leader with proven integrity, and Obama, a socialist actively undermining the principles of individual freedom and liberty upon which this nation was founded, I’ll choose Palin any day.
For those of you who would vote Obama before Palin, you can call yourself whatever you want – Republican or Democrat – but what you cannot call yourself is a freedom loving American.
Her record in Alaska speaks for itself? Abuse of power, bridge to nowhere, Wasila left with a horrible debt, her taxation policies stunted growth and are being repealed, her support of Joe Miller who lost to a write-in candidate… and the continual lies. Yup, her record speaks for itself. Alaskans are embarrassed they elected her; she would not even carry her own state in a national election.
Also, the person the Reps fear is…..Sarah Palin. Both parties want a party creature that they can control, via concessions and inside deals. I happen to not agree with s.p. often, but I don’t think she would be amenable to inside shenanigans, ergo, the loathing for s.p. That said, good luck.
It cracks me to see how liberals just go nuts at the mere mention of her name. If she’s SOOOOO unqualified, what’s to fear? I have a younger brother that thinks she’s an idiot, but he can’t tell me of one thing she’s ever said that brings him to that conclusion. And when I ask him for one thing that makes Obama MORE qualified to be POTUS than S.P., he can’t come up with anything. One time he brought up the ivy league education vs S.P.’s State University education, until I mentioned that GW Bush has an ivy league education and the left thinks he’s an idiot.
That was last summer, since then we don’t discuss politics.
If you’d like to know things she’s said that make her an idiot, just read the news. Your brother probably doesn’t have TIME to explain how big an idiot she is, politically. She seldom says anything intelligent. She mostly just complains about everything Obama does, but provides no substantial alternatives, and she speaks only through a censored web site, or from a script on Fox News. She’s a coward. She’s clearly in it for the money, having abandoned her responsibility in Alaska to cash in. There is a huge difference in the Bush “legacy” education at Yale, and Obama’s history at Yale and Columbia.
So, another Obamist bootlicker chimes in who is satisfied with the Dear Leader’s Radiant Path to Insolvency.
You probably also believe those bs unemployment numbers, too.
People like you are easily led.
How would we know anything about BO’s ivy league education? He’s released none of his records. We know everything there is to know about Palin and Bush, less than nil about BO.
Three books(Bailey,Dunn, McGuiness), an HBO movie, and an E channel documentary about the beautiful and electrifying Sarah Palin. Sarah who? Sorry libs she’s just getting started.
Dream on…
The killer R ticket for 2016 will be Chris Christie and Sara Palin. Tagline: “Beauty and the Beast”.
Sarah Palin = Ronald Reagan in a skirt
Look, I’m not on the Sarah Palin Rah-Rah train, but I’ve said it before, the lady is either very smart or has an incredibly good PR team.
When I say she is Reagan, I mean not just her political outlook (which is Reagan that she has apparently read and watched every speech/book/ad you name it he ever did or was written about him). I’m talking about the part where she keeps moving above everybody else, outside of both groups who are reduced to taking wild swings at her while she just dances back then comes in with a jab, wearing them out, making them mad and lose concentration. Dems and Reps alike.
Now she’s going on a world tour of sorts, speaking at world forums, getting her speechifying practice as well as answering questions while staying on the message. I watched the India event. She was a little rough at the beginning of the Q&A trying to formulate answers with the message, but she picked up near the end. A little more practice and she might be ready for more direct television interviews.
She was pretty good on Greta Van Sustren the other day during a one on one. That was a friendly interview, though, so she is going to have to be ready for hostile interviews.
however, I note she stays away from those and no debates. She’s staying above the noise and talking directly to people. That was Reagan’s strategy. The one that Obama tried to use, but ended up looking like Pop star and certainly does not have Reagan’s political views.
She’s done a lot of other “branding” activities making her name a household name. Everybody knows who Sarah Palin is, even the MSNBC what’s to play stupid. They just wish she would go away.
there is one other thing about Palin that I noticed: she loves a challenge. They say she doesn’t have the creds to be president, she goes out and gets them. They say she can’t be president, she’s going to push harder than ever. Frankly, the only people who should be blaming themselves for Sarah Palins continuing popularity are the Dems who had the stupid idea to attack her personally.
Aside from a lot of Reagan’s attitudes, she’s got an Andrew Jackson side. Say what you will about Jackson, but don’t talk about his wife unless you want to be challenged to a duel.
Why are the Dems scared of Sarah Palin? Because she can out populist the populists and she simply will not go away.
You seem to be ignoring the fact that despite her efforts to make herself look even mildly intelligent, the con is clearly over. She is dropping like a rock in the opinion/popularity polls.
With your comments, you prove your close-mindedness and ignorance every time.
These women are kindred souls, not rivals, but a tag team. The joke is on the socialists. Either one can take down the idiot in chief. I hope Sarah hangs back while all these Beltway approved guys throw their hats into the ring. The nation yawns. Then she calls her local radio station to announce and it’s Palinmania all over again, without the McCain albatross. Obama is suddenly way down and Hillary is back to take care of unfinished business. Stocking up on popcorn.
Once again, someone who ignores Sarah’s sinking numbers, and polls taken during and after the last Presidential election indicating that Sarah Palin was a DRAG on the ticket.
Only an a$$clown takes polling seriously that is conducted in the spring of the year before an election.
You do understand that in the Spring of 2007, Rudolph Giuliani was our nominee, don’t you?
Jeebus, libtards bring teh stupid.
You are right we can never assume we are safe from her. I write every day to make sure the truth comes out re Palin at malialitman.wordpress.com. I have authored two books on Palin, and have committed myself to ensure that she never comes close to the White House again. We must all work together. Together we can make a difference. Malia
President Palin is INELUCTABLE.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ineluctable
Sarah Palin is not qualified to be POTUS and you people just don’t get it. Do some research. She is not the person you believe. Why are her poll numbers so bad in her own state ??
My friend it’s you who better do the research, your all wet if you don’t think she can be president, I think your a lib, Sarah Palin has the intelligence, she loves the USA she is honest doesn’t take any BS, she got Alaska outof a big hole her numbers in Alaska are bad because the libs there hate her she did for that State what they didn’t want her to do, stop corruption, and put the State in the black again, I love that lady, and you better hope she run’s before OBUMMA destroys our country..I’m a 8 year AirForce vet, what have you done for this country besides voting for OBUMMA ???
Usually trig truthers , don’t come out in the sunlight, they are like the vampires of I am Legend.
Sarah Palin is falling fast. Bachmann is speeding it up because she’s taking action instead of dangling a “will she or won’t she” carrot – that’s the big difference between the two. And Sarah doesn’t want the president’s job anymore than she wanted to remain governor – Michele will open an opportunity for Sarah to bow out (and pass the reins), and you can bet Sarah’s thinking of it now. Sarah has NOT said ANYTHING about Bachmann moving in on her turf, but she knows about it.
the fact that “she still maintains a solid, ravenous fan base.” is because those fans are idiots, it’s not because she has such great political acumen or wisdom. most of them probably think obama is a usurper from kenya, and that jesus is going to re-appear at any moment.
We read daily that Sarah Palin (et al) is a moron, is an idiot, is stupid, et c. One might wonder why the constant assault on her intelligence. Why the obsession with Obama’s (non-demonstrable) genius? I have a thought:
“Progressives,” as they were known around 100 years ago, were gung-ho on promoting the intelligent over the feeble-minded masses, approx. 70 per cent of the American population, according to the less than intelligent Margaret Sanger. So keen were the “Progressives” to do in a day what nature does blindly over the aeons, i.e. improve the race, that they determined to sterilise and otherwise eliminate the morons, the idiots, the stupid, the contemporary Sarah Palins from the world. We used to call it eugenics. In America we sterilised 60,000 people in California alone, half the total in the nation of those attacked sexually for being “idiots.”
But, since the Germans gave eugenics such a bad lot of p.r. Progressives don’t say eugenics anymore. Now, it’s population control and so on. It’s still here, submerged, still in the minds of those who don’t know the history of ideas and events, even so recent as the 70s. We don’t say “eugenic” improvement, we simply say, “Sarah Palin is a moron.” We say what we have heard the Progressives say for a hundred years, and we believe we are smart for saying it. We’re “progressive” in doing nature’s work. It’s for the good of humanity. But to me it sure reads like people parroting eugenics without knowing why they say the things they say. Unfortunately, I think many people would just shrug and say the Nazis weren’t really all that bad, given that they agree with so much of the “Progressive” agenda these days.
Why ape the eugenicists cliches of yesteryear? Because people believe what they think they think, especially when they don’t think it through. How smart is that?
Finding a politician that wants to do the right things is rare, but it’s the politician with the courage to start and the tenacity to finish the job that is most rare.
Sarah has stood up to corrupt Republicans, and corrupt oil companies, and anybody else in order to do her job and serve the people. She shows no fear of the Obama regime including the press. For more than two years, she has been THE target – putting herself in political harm’s way. She has shown the fortitude others can only promise.
I keep seeing people saying Palin cannot be President because “she isn’t qualified.” Well, what is “Qualified” anyway? Actually, she is a native born American, over 35 years of age. Beyond that, she has to win the presidential election.
I think this “she’s not qualified” is just so much balderdash: I mean, she graduated from the U of Idaho, instead of one of the Ivies. To me, that makes her totally qualified. Also, she isn’t a lawyer. And she never clerked for a card-carrying communist back in the day (like Hillary); and she WORKED her way through college, and she and her husband have a BUSINESS. She has never been a “community organizer”.
Many people like Trump are concerned that Obama has not made his birth certificate public. Well, I am MORE concerned that he has never made his college transcripts public.
Nice infestation of trolls here regurgitating half digested lumps of Democrat and Obama campaign talking points.
I’m an Independent; see Palin as a WHINER; all gripes, no solutions. Will say anything, will do anything for money. Easy to take potshots with her one-way style of internet discourse (her Facebook page is MANAGED, dissenting opinions are CENSORED). She is a COWARD. Dems not afraid of Palin. Dems (and Independents and real Republicans) DISGUSTED by Palin. I was at a recent Republican fund raiser; Palin referred to by prominent party members as AN EMBARRASSMENT. Palin is for Palin, someone who represents the ideals of only an ignorant minority of Americans is not a true patriot. Palin LIES about her record, is a total phony. Her policies HURT Alaska; her legacy is unraveling. Wasila is BROKE; oil companies bailing. The majority of Americans, the REAL Americans, can see through the con. It’s over for her, politically. Let her run… and lose. Who cares?
You say that Palin “takes everything thrown her way and comes out on top”. Yet her popularity is steadily dwindling, with each new poll showing lower approval ratings and higher disapproval ratings (now around 50%). This is a strange kind of “top” for Palin to “come out on”, being that it’s so close to the bottom. And still going down.
Sarah Palin alone against the Democratic/Republican establishment elites will capture the Republican nomination and crush the cabal that is the Progressive Democratic Party AND the RINO right. Now if the dumb as a rock liberals can figure that out what exactly is the problem the posters on this website are having?
They don’t talk about Sarah Palin 24/7 because they think she is inept, they talk about her constantly because they know she could crush them.
Wake up and notice the 100 million Americans who support her. How many still think the clown in office is competent? Not many more than the parasites and the union thugs.
Along comes K Passah to prove my point.
Palin is the ONLY potential GOP Presidential candidate to endorse the Paul Ryan budget plan.
“Speaking to a hand-picked, elite audience of Indian business tycoons, lawmakers, Bollywood stars, lobbyists and socialites at a packed media conference in New Delhi, Palin deftly handled the question on everyone’s minds: whether she would throw her hat in the ring in 2012.”
But many in the audience felt her lengthy written speech, with its remarks about free markets, small governments and the “beautiful,” “vibrant” tea party movement, was directed more at a domestic audience back home than at Indians.
“After Palin finished her speech, she sat down to answer a host of questions to laughter, cheers and applause from the audience.”
“Palin got the most applause when she spoke of her relationship with the mainstream American media.
“You can’t necessarily trust the mainstream media to accurately report. You can’t rely anymore on mainstream media to set the record straight, not in the U.S.,” she said to loud cheers.
“Women who choose to enter public life unfairly often become target of the media. She has been a victim too,” said Ranjana Kumari, who trains women for political leadership in India. “The way Sarah Palin spelled out her position on crucial issues today, I feel she will throw her hat in the ring.”

This is why the libtards actually fear her. Palin is the only one who fights. And they all remember, in the pit of their guts, that it was she who put McCain on top for a couple of weeks before Lehman Brothers went belly up.
That’s the secret of Liberal fear of Palin: she connects with regular voters in ways that Chicago Jeebus cannot hope to match. And she has the truth on her side.
Democrats have built their entire government on a sandcastle of lies. They’re not prepared for what happens when the tide comes in.
Obama has such an awesome record that it probably does not matter who the Republicans nominate in 2012. Hasn’t he gotten rid of despicable Bush policies such as bombing Muslim countries and shredding the constitution by not giving enemy combatants civilian trials? Under his leadership we have seen a large drop in the unemployment rate and a revival of economic growth. He has increased the prestige and respect of the U.S. around the world–when is the last time people in other countries demonstrated against U.S. policies? The Republicans were fiscally irresponsible under Bush, giving us deficits in the hundreds of billions of dollars, but Obama has stopped that. Yes, the country still has problems, but those are due to eight years of Bush or the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives, not to the decisive and highly intelligent leadership of President Obama. With his success in delivering hope and change, not to mention Obamacare, how will the Republicans find any issues to run on in 2012?
nohype, Hopefully you didn’t need a /sarc tag on that one. Thumbs up.
Thank God for PJTV and contributors like Tony Katz who bring the issues to the forefront. Every civics student or sociology student should be requird to read not only the article but the comments to get a true understanding of the American mindset. The value of open discussion and the freedoms of America which make this all possible cannot be underestimated!!!
Keep this going!
In our local newspaper this a.m. there was a squib about Bristol Palin, describing her as “an unwed mother”, not just Bristol Palin or a single mother, as is usual with all the other single mothers out there. She’s made it very clear this was the mistake of her life, but that she plans to do the very best she can with her choices. It just sounded disparaging in this instance. Another case of “gotcha” for Sarah.
Sarah Palin is unable to speak in anything but generalities and talking points. As O’Reilly pointed out (and its obvious to anyone), when you ask her a question off script or ask her to name something specific, she fumbles and bumbles. The woman is not particularly intelligent. Remember how much she had to be taught about our country and foreign policy going into the VP debate? It was a staggering lack of knowledge. And anyone defending her record in Alaska doesn’t have a clue in the world. She resigned amid a flurry of scandals and is unpopular within her own state.
I think Tony is absolutely nuts here. Palin would not only lose the Presidency, she would lose by a greater margin than even Mondale to Reagan. It would be a historical landslide. Once your unfavorables go up as high as Palin, they DO NOT come down (unless she rescues a boy from a well or something). She can’t even win the Republican primary, let alone the Presidency.
We need to nominate someone who can BEAT Obama. That may mean compromising on some issues in order to get the best possible candidate. Because someone that you agree with on 80% on the issues is far better than someone you agree with on 20%. Getting the independents will be key in this election. And that is where Bachmann and Palin fail spectacularly, and that is why someone who is promoting their candidacy needs to get a reality check as they are damaging our party’s chances.
I read all the “Sarah Palin” comments from April 5th and 6th, 2011.
I’m reminded of Patrick Henry’s noble quote: “Give me liberty or give me death!” Can’t help thinking what kind of country it would be if run by Sarah’s detractors. Didn’t many Europeans come here after
1492 to escape these people? Aren’t these the same people who smiled
and turned their heads as Stalin, Hitler and Mao murdered the productive citizens of their respective “kingdoms” to keep freedom
from being restored. I don’t wish to live in a country that doesn’t
LOVE Sarah Palin! Give me Palin or give me death! …and please do
a psychological profile on the critics of my statements-see if my
assertions aren’t validated.
