Democrats gone wild, subverting our democracy (Updated)
Sometimes it’s worth taking a step back and taking a big picture look at what is really going on.
In the space of a few days, Democrats in Wisconsin and Indiana fled their state capitals rather than allow the democratic process to work.
Now, President Obama is declaring a federal law unconstitutional rather than respect the fact that the democratic process has already worked.
The Constitution is not silent on President Obama’s actions. Article II, Section I spells out the presidential oath of office:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Barack H. Obama took that oath — twice — on January 20, 2009. Article II, Section III is clear on the president’s relationship to US law.
[The president] shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed
There’s nothing in there about the president faithfully executing only the laws with which he agrees. It says nothing about the president or his attorney general being vested with the power of judicial review. That power belongs to the courts.
This president and his party have gone over the cliff into lawlessness. At this point, I wouldn’t put impeachment off the table for discussion. The president is intentionally stoking a constitutional crisis, while his party fosters anarchy in the states. These acts cannot stand.

This is a political move designed to distract attention from debates on public-sector unions and the budget that are not going the president’s way. It’s also a departure from Obama’s fundamental strategy of downplaying social issues and foreign policy so as to build a broad-based coalition around issues of economic populism. That was the approach of Obama’s organizing mentors, and I argue in Radical-in-Chief that Obama has adopted it for himself.
For Obama to risk that broader strategy now is a sign of weakness. I suggested the other day in “Obama’s Wisconsin Bind” that having unpopular public-sector unions as the face of his coalition might force him into aggressive but risky efforts to shore up a broader-based movement of the Left.
Indeed.

…or forcible removal as prescribed in the Declaration of Independence.
It is certainly an impeachable offense but I don’t think that would be profitable. The red shirted socialist fleebaggers would milk that teat as vigorously as they are doing to the moms in Wisconsin.
Actually, Obama is far from the first President who has explicitly reserved to himself the right not to enforce provisions of legislation which he believes to be unconstitutional or which unconstitutionally limit his executive prerogatives. Indeed, President Bush, himself, did so too (check out his signing statements, for example).
The Atty General has also always had very broad discretion in determining what cases his Justice Dept. will or won’t litigate. That’s why the DoJ’s Inspector General stated that examining the decision to drop the Black Panther case fell outside his purview, while investigating possible Departmental policy with regard to enforcing voting rights law selectively was appropriate. Then there’s the DoJ’s Office of Legal Counsel (think John Yoo) which is specifically mandated to address and render opinions on such issues for the the Prez and his Atty. General.
What interests me most about this development is how emphatically Holder attributed the decision here to the President himself, when Obama has so regularly insisted that he leaves decisions on any remotely hot button issues entirely in the A.G.’s hands That’s the truest measure of just how blatantly political — and provocative — the DOMA decision is intended to be. Not only is Obama scrambling to shore up his own constituency, I’m sure he’s also trying to wave a red cape in front of social conservatives as a way of shifting the focus and energy away from all the other battles he is losing badly.
Am I the only one hoping that Daryll Issa has enough on Obumma to go for impeachment. There is a good chance this inept impostor will do
permanent damage to our nation in several areas. The one that concerns me most, is Israel. Obumma made the statement, that he’d “stand with Islam” if times were hard. That tells me, Obumma would halt any aid for Israel when once again the Arabs attack. If we fail to halt the next
Jewish holocaust,we will forever be diminished as a country.
