CPAC Presser: The great Pigford fraud

Rep. Michele Bachmann delivered opening remarks, noting that the Pigford scandal isn’t a partisan issue. She also hailed Andrew Breitbart’s role in gathering the facts on the massive fraud that Pigford has become. Congress has spent more than $1 billion on Pigford settlements and will spend another $1 billion, yet the black farmers at the heart of the story were done an injustice. They lost their land and have not been paid what is due them.

Andrew Breitbart delivered remarks, saying that Al Pires created a system to exploit black farmers in the South, who only numbered about 3,000 expected claimants at the outset. Pigford has ended up with about 94,000 claimants, thanks in no small part to Sen. Barack Obama’s sponsorship of a bill to extend Pigford when he was in the Senate. Meanwhile, black farmers who were actually discriminated against by the USDA were scammed to benefit the class action attorneys involved, who made a killing off of Pigford. The farmers, meanwhile, lost their land and continue to be victims of the entire process.

Film maker Lee Stranahan showed undercover video that he obtained, which proves that the lawyers involved defrauded the black farmers, while also teaching others how to scam the government out of money by exploiting the Pigford settlement. Stranaham’s undercover film also shows proof that Pigford is being used as a stealth reparations program.

Rep. Steve King delivered remarks following Stranaham. King looked into the Pigford settlements almost a decade ago, when a researcher delivered evidence to his office that about 75% of the Pigford I settlements were fraudulent. King noted that there were black farmers who were discriminated against, and they should be made whole. But the Pigford settlements have far exceeded the number of actual farmers who were harmed. King called for a congressional investigation into Pigford, to uncover the full extent of a “crime against the American taxpayers.”

Stranaham is showing clips of the full two-hour audio that will be released at Big Government today.

Do tell us about the Shirley Sherrod connection as well please.

  2. If this does not become a massive story of fraud and graft; denying the very folk who are the subject of the legislation while providing untold BILLIONS to the LAWYERS…..There has to be a reining in of the power of lawyers or this country could be bankrupt BECAUSE of them!

    I am ill…..Really, really ill….

Reign in the money-grubbing lawyers? Not gonna happen! Dems let us know how they feel about that this week, when they created
1-800- I HATE MY BOSS! Their lazy, freeloader base will get “free” legal advice (can you say union encouragement?) about their options to improve their work conditions. But, You and I know it isn’t free! We are paying for it!

If black farmers were discriminated against, then why hasn’t the government identified those at the USDA responsible for the racism? Why haven’t those bigots been terminated, along with superiors who allowed it to happen? Why isn’t the administration demanding that those at the very top of USDA also step down, since it sounds as if the discrimination is still happening?

This is criminal. The lawyers, Holder, Obama, everybody gets jail time and NO MORE MONEY to this corrupt government until we put an honest adult in charge. Disgusting. All of it.

Tell me that the US taxpayer can recover some of the money fraudulently spent on bogus claims and I’ll think this is worth pursuing. We won’t see a cent returned because the people who filed fraudulent claims are a minority by definition, and will simply be forgiven the monies paid to them because, after all, every single “fraudulent” claim in this charade is a “legitimate” reparations claim, at least in the eyes of any Democratic Party Congressman.
White taxpayers owe black non-taxpayers. The entire welfare system as it exists today is a reparations scam.
    Simple as that.

Beyond making whole the people who were damaged by the USDA, we should inflict the institutional death penalty for the organization. The USDA should be disestablished, defunded, and eliminated.

This is one of the largest scams in the nations history. The President and Attorney General are involved and this has not made the MSM yet. If you ever thought that the MSM wasn’t controlled by the Democrat/Marxist party this scam will disavow that notion. Huge amounts of money being stolen, huge kickbacks to the politicians who set this up and are protecting the thieves.

  8. Keep the pressure on, Andrew. Dribble this story out in little pieces; let them formulate and distribute their denials, then release more showing them for liars. KEEP IT UP. This story HAS to grow legs; it HAS to result in criminal prosecution and imprisonment for all involved.

This will be bigger than Watergate when it all comes out.

None of this stuff about obama surprises me. What I would really like to know is who are the string pullers of this obama puppet we have as president. I know they must have been grooming this poor excuse for a president for years. I cannot believe that many Americans are that stupid to have ever voted him into office. Please, Americans, impeach him NOW! Thank you

    • Tango 11

The string pullers are, of course, CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood. If you think not, try the Website for the Council for Security Policy and read their 177 page report entitled, “Shariah, The threat ot America’ It will curl your hair.
