Clint Comes Out of the Closet, Endorses Romney
In recent years, Hollywood conservatives have been as deep in the closet as 1950s gays. But Barack Obama, the man of hope and change, has changed that. The times are so terrible that more and more entertainment industry conservatives are coming out and risking irritating their fuddy-duddy liberal peers, maybe even losing a job or two into the bargain.
The latter is not a problem for the latest Hollywood con to come out, Clint Eastwood, who just publicly endorsed Romney with the words “the country is in need of a boost.” (No kidding!) Clint has arguably been America’s finest director for the last decade or so. The likes of Sean Penn abandoned their bourgeois lefty politics in a heartbeat to work with him. So no job issues for Clint.
And everyone has known Eastwood was a man of the right for years now. He just hasn’t made a very big deal about it, unlike the mouthier libs. He has more class. Clint is a figure out of old Hollywood when stars shut their mouths and did their work.
So his coming out is not inconsequential. One wonders what his peers — the Redfords, Beattys, etc. – think. Some of them are such knee-jerk liberals that they probably just put it down to Clint imitating his make-my-day character and don’t give it another thought. But I suspect not all. The extremity of the economic situation is not lost on all these people. They just don’t have the guts to speak. Walking around Hollywood now is not like it was a year or two ago. You don’t hear anyone publicly defending Obama. What you get mostly is silence and a seeming desire to change the subject.
Whether Clint is the stalking horse for more major entertainment figures to start coming out for Romney remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: After three plus years of the Obama administration, it’s easier for Hollywood conservatives to declare themselves, not harder. What an irony.

Barack Insane-Hussein Obama: (trying to read a note) ‘See you soon, id…’ ‘id…’ ‘ids…’
Clint Eastwood: (Taking the note) ‘Idiots’. It’s for you.
Bhahahahahaha!
Folks, please pause in your scorn for Hollywood. This Hollywood entity supports our preferred Presidential candidate. We all now support the endorsements of Hollywood entities, contingent on the next Hollywood entity supporting the right candidate.
What closet??
As far as I know, Clint ‘s always been a right leaning person.
Yes, me too. So far as he fits a zealot’s template, he’s ‘socially moderate but fiscally conservative’, but he’s a much more complex guy than that. Believe he ran as an Independent when elected mayor of Carmel, but his R leanings go back to Eisenhower thru Reagan to McCain and now Romney. One reason for basing Malpaso in Carmel was he couldn’t stand Hollywood. He’s very much his own man — and IMO a pragmatist, which is a compliment — but if you have problems with his politics, well, start with your own bathroom mirror.
So? I still don’t understand what closet is being referred to in the article.
Barack Obama here. Wow, are you naive. You have got to be kidding. Everything is going according to plan. America is dying. I am the reason. America is what is wrong with the world. You have to suffer. I can not believe you thought I was an American. No, I am not. I am a world citizen. Borders are illegal in my eyes. Plus, you stole this land anyway. You will not have a nation when I am done with you. I have not even begun to “transform” you. You will “change.” I will make you. Feel free to vote for me. Well, vote for me if you are suicidal. I hate you. I hate your children. I hate your parents for having you. See you in November–suckers. I am Barack Insane-Hussein Obama and I approve this post.
FlameWarrior,
The alien mind you portray in your amusing comment was already common in Europe in the 70s. I was growing up in France, studying mathematics then, so the angry political climate of the time was just incomprehensible to me, because the rhetorical projectiles were flying at supersonic rates of speed, and I felt that nobody could possibly think fast enough to discuss them rationally.
I attempted to reduce the apparent consensus to a simple proposition: “America is the poison that makes the world sick”, that’s all! It did not look to me like a proposition to build anything of merit from, and I imagined that those who believed in this false religion would some day wake up and realize they were mindlessly volunteering as the useful idiots the soviet propaganda was so skillfully cultivating.
50 years later, maybe some of them did wake up, but the real fanatics clearly did not, and made a carrier of proselitysing the various emanations of marxism, to the point where it is possible for one of them to be elected President of the United States! This revelation brought to life the tea party and its political muscle, so maybe Barack Obama performed a public service after all!
I would not be too surprised is this turns out to be the begining of a reversal, as illustrated by Clint Eastwood endorsment of Mitt Romney, as the only fellow around who could possibly preside over the rise of this awakening and allow it to deflect the nation from its fatal trajectory. However, it took a long time for America to fall under the spell of the collectivist ideas, a process that may have started in the days of Theodore Roosevelt! So it may take a long time to restore the American spirit.
Let’s not give up!
The Hollywood Left is occupied with the most important issue threatening the survival of the Republic; gay marriage. Compared to that, a disintegrating national economy, a looming depression, massive unemployment, staggering debt, and American abasement on the world stage are mere distractions. It’s a matter of priorities. As for the Redfords, Beattys, Cloonys, Sarandons, Penns et al, they live in a golden bubble, insulated from reality, and are content to mouth humanistic platitudes to inflate their sense of self-importance. One of my treasured memories is a picture of Sean Penn in the Big Easy, shortly after Katrina, floating in a dinghy on his humanitarian mission, while brandishing a shotgun. Duck hunting??
Sean was symbolically displaying his penis. It’s a self-esteem thing.
OMG. ROTFL! I’m dyin’ laffin’ at some of you guys! haha
He’s probably loaded the shotgun wrong, too. Too bad he didn’t see something to shoot at – we’d have been the better for it.
‘course then there never would have been the Penn/Chavez Bromance, but hey…
Hollywood gay marriage is adrenaline to Islam, and somehow i fear them less because of it. Any hot desert wind that could blow hard against such disgusting abnormal behavior{dont make me elaborate} is sure to be welcome! After all we all have our children to protect.
Maybe you are right, Roger, I do not have much hope for those Hollywood types. From the point of view of a sometime consumer of Hollywood’s product, not as an insider like you, I consider it unlikely. A lot of those same producers also make decisions that result in sad, adolescent productions — for instance just about all the Adam Sandler movies. Many millions of dollars for that kind of trash, and not all of them make money.
Mutatis mutandam, they will likely “produce” more BHO, even though it is a losing proposition.
But at least Clint Eastwood has done this thing in support of Romney.
Eastwood is also in a position to know what is being pushed at these Hollywood fundraisers as a 2nd term priority. Plus he has a solid sense of history to know how much utopian schemes have cost countries in the past and how integral personal liberty and individual economic freedom have been to the story of what made America great and uniquely prosperous. Truly a beacon for the world.
He can see what is happening to California as Victor Davis Hanson describes so eloquently and imagine the consequences of it being nationalized. Now we will see who joins him publicly in rejecting the wholesale transformation of America.
Dirty Harry is a raaaacist!
The simple observation that the country needs a boost speaks as many volumes as “make my day”.
Desperately needs a boost.
Clint is The Man. Always has been, always will be. Gran Torino is on my Desert Island Movie List. At the end, knowing he’s dying, taking one for the team, to make things better. Sorta like this endorsement. God bless you, Clint…may He grant you several more happy and productive years on this earth.
Roger: “After three plus years of the Obama administration, it’s easier for Hollywood conservatives to declare themselves, not harder.”
I’m not clear that this is true, especially as you haven’t named one other Hollywood star who’s come out for Romney. I’d like to think that you’re right but where’s the evidence? The election is just a few months away — and only Clint Eastwood, bless him!, has come out in support of Romney. That’s not what I’d call evidence of Hollywood conservatives finding it easier, not harder to declare themselves!
We also have Jerry Bruckheimer and, ahem, Jenna Jameson.
Jon Voight – months ago. between him and Jane Pitt must make family dinners very stressful for brangelina. (at least the grandkids are getting a different POV.)
…and also Robert Duval.
“Get off my lawn!” I’ve had a crush on that man–or Rowdy Yates–for years.
Those on the right, including Clint, who’ve kept silent deserve our loathing even more than the mistaken yammerers of the left.
Oh come now. What became of “shut up and sing”? Does that only apply to Hollywood lefties, not righties? Since when does any public figure have the duty to declare his/her political leanings? I’d be as happy not knowing Dan Cathy’s mind as Janeane Garofalo’s.
Amen to that. It stumps me as to why we should listen to these people’s opinions just because they are some fat-cat company CEO or an actor. Ridiculous.
Clint Walker is an American Icon in the Entertainment Industry. He has exceeded all in his generation and today’s crop of mediocrities in talent and creativity – acting, producing, directing and even writing the music for some of his films.
There is no one, no one in Hollywood’s garbage pail of liberal rat totalitarians who can hold his .357 Magnum, punk.
I know you meant Clint Eastwood, but Clint Walker was one hell of an actor. NIGHT OF THE GRIZZLY is certainly worth checking out. He still lives happily in Grass Valley, California.
Don’t you mean Clint Eastwood?
Um, Clint Eastwood is famous for his .44 Magnum.
.357s were used by his opponents in “Magnum Force”.
He’s an icon because he persisted and the viewing audience supported him. There was no love lost for Eastwood in Hollywood for many years. His Italian cowboy movies were derided and Hollywood really hated Dirty Harry. But Clint didn’t give a damn what they thought and kept making money hand over fist and became so popular and stayed around so long they finally had to begrudgingly accept him in as offhand a manner as they could afford. The only reason he received an Academy Award for “Unforgiven” was because it conformed to the Hollywood meme that all the movies he did before (killing, individual justice, etc.)were wrong and he was portraying an old gunfighter sorry for his previous life. His recent movies have been around Hollywood themes although he did put his own twist on “Grand Torino”. He’s been in Hollywood to long not to have some of it rub off. I still admire him and love all of his old movies which I’ve seen dozens of times. He’s not into twisting the knife into Hollywood guts like he used to be but this endorsement will do.
… coming out and risking irritating their fuddy-duddy liberal peers, maybe even losing a job or two into the bargain.
Just this week we saw a powerful example of how fictive reality enforces compliance by wielding the knife of self-censorship with Chick-fil-A. The founder states a personal political position and boom, his company is threatened with unconstitutional harm by elected politicians, and his definition of marriage is equated with hate speech.
The effect of the Chick-fil-A flap will be to further enforce self-censorship. Meanwhile, it’s considered a noble thing to make statements in favor of homosexual marriage, doing so is expected and even considered heroic.
PR hits to make non-compliance costly to an individual are done all the time, and can have great personal consequences. Look at Ron Silver not working anymore to Geerts Wilder nearly going to federal prison (and suffering financial ruin) to Oriana Fallaci dying of cancer just in time to avoid being raked over the coals.
This is why shows like Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show pump out the same tired ex-hippie one-way crap without break.
Just to clarify for people – Ron Silver doesn’t work anymore, as he passed away in March of 2009. I liked the guy greatly, and his politics fit in well here.
Hmmmm… Clint Eastwood uttered a sentence that may be interpreted as somewhat favoring the Republican candidate for president. So we’re drawing a conclusion that Obama has been so bad that there are conservative celebrities in Hollywood who may feel emboldened enough to sort of say things that aren’t lickspittle drooling hosannas toThe Won. OK.
Call me when Clint holds a nationally promoted $50,000 a plate dinner ib support of Romney at Pebble Beach.
But who in hollyweird would come?
Clint gave his endorsement at “(Romney’s) high-dollar fundraiser…in Idaho”

“Whether Clint is the stalking horse for more major entertainment figures to start coming out for Romney remains to be seen.”
Don’t hold your breath. The ones with the professional position to not give a damn or the guts not to care have already “come out”.
My impression is that Clint has tried to be non-partisan over the years, supporting this or that candidate or cause, including positions on both sides. It’s easy to forget, that’s how many voters were, that’s how the POLITICIANS were, fifty years ago.
Here’s my take, Rog…
I think (and I think you full well understand this) most folks in Hollyweird have to be pigeonholed into the left-wing corner of tinsel-brain.
To think outside the box, to actually branch away from the ‘crowded tree’ is to be free but some people fear freedom. Hence, why we have this bunch of nimwits running the show now.
Freud would say, our ‘freedom’ only exists so long as we create it.
Fromm would probably concur and say we create our freedom only to escape from it because we like creating our own fears to knock down and build back up again.
I’m a little in the middle.
I think freedom is a little scary. Yes. Like free-falling. I think security is a veiled threat…like the hidden teddy cam…eventually, you realize Teddy is watching you and it’s really not such a nice feeling…in fact…it’s downright creepy.
Would I rather have security over freedom? NO F*CKING way. I cherish my freedom.
Let freedom ring.

I know this feeling greatly. Almost every single set I’ve worked on, I’ve felt like an alien almost every time seemingly being the only conservative on the entire production. Now I don’t know this for sure, but what I do know is that the aggressive liberal mouths were the only thing I ever heard, ever. I remember one film I worked on where I was the 2nd AS, and during one setup, the guy running the clapper would say the most vile things about President Bush to correspond with the marker letters. This was when Bush was in office, though to hear liberals talk today, you’d think he was actually still president. But every time this insecure moron would say something highly inappropriate, even for the depravity of the film industry, the whole crew would just crack up and goad him on to come up with even more disgusting things to say.
I try to make it a point not to discuss politics or religion openly, well relatively speaking, and pretty much that can change with the situation, but generally I like to think we should all keep that to ourselves when not speaking with friends, I’m not saying I don’t find it okay to discuss, just in a live setting like that I found it extremely offensive but wholly typical that a liberal would vomit out his hate and propaganda, without even considering or respecting those around him. Though I guess I’m just too dumb to think that considering we conservatives are such a shocking minority on film sets, that can also be said for being a Christian and having to listen to all of the God bashing going on. That same movie was also the first time I had ever seen a crew member do a line of come and morphine on set. I was used to seeing it everywhere else, parties, trailers, production meetings etc. But that was the first time I had experienced that actually on set while we were shooting, watching the dude do a couple of lines off the mixing board. Hope the sound came out okay, haha, I know they did do reshoots, just not sure why. And this wasn’t some small half a million gig either, this was a feature by all definitions.
So yeah I definitely applaud Clint for his showing of support, just wish there was more. It’s funny too because, one of the directors I worked with was a big time lefty liberal nut. Yet, typically he showed the glaring hypocrisy of his party, by asking me to go and get our video village head, and I asked which one, and he said “You know, what’s his name, the spook, Eric, get him, now!”. This director was pretty ancient, considering the older use of the word “spook” to refer our black video guy, who just so happened to be one of my best friends and had ridden two hours to set with me each day for over a month. And I changed his name to “Eric” in case anyone that might know myself or him reads this. But yeah, like I said typical that the person espousing all the usual liberal agenda to everyone, would tolerantly refer to a crew member as a “spook”. Aaah, there is no end to the liberal hypocrisy.
I can’t seem to find an edit button for my post using my tablet here, so here is what I think, all of my corrections for the typo errors I made, or I should say my predictive text keyboard made for me.
Instead of “2nd AS” , it was supposed to be “2nd AD”, and
Instead of “doing a line of come and morphine” (which sounds, hilarious, disgusting, and most likely probable on a Hollywood set), it was of course meant to say “doing a line of COKE and morphine”.
given his shocking “morning in america” commercial (should I say “mourning in america”)shtick last superbowl, he still has a credibility problem in my book.
The only thing remarkable about Clint’s endorsement is that it’s… remarkable. As for his bold courage in this, keep in mind that he expressed support for a RINO, and even then just for a boost, not for principle. This is how low we’ve sunk, grasping at straws when what we need is a pipe. A sewer pipe.
It’s Romney or the sewer.
That’s the choice in our degraded condition.
The restoration of high principle as the prevailing ethos will have to wait, assuming there are enough people around who even remotely remember what it is.
A large assumption.
And, isn’t it pathetic that we are in this effed up state?
Is anyone an American any longer here?
/sad sigh off
So, your way out of the, so called, “sewer” is by casting your vote for a man who believes that Joseph Smith can save you better than Jesus Christ? You guys are effed up ….
You guys are effed up …
Who cares about us? Or you? Or what Mitt believes?
It’s better to care about the financial meltdown that is certain to happen if runaway spending continues unabated, which is the definite outcome from today’s policy-of-record. The RINO plan is to trust the socialists to keep their word over a few decades until we’re solvent again. The socialist plan, backed by Hussein Obama, is no plan at all, as in no fiscal budget and no real cuts; their plan is to drive the car over the cliff and enjoy the thrill ride doing it. Their sure to get great press coverage doing it, so what’s to stop them?
Almost as bad is the overthrow of the law in favor of diktat, which has recently happened at the Fed (CPFB) and the DOE (regulations in lieu of laws).
Me, I like my government representative and lawful. I could give a rat’s ass about Mitt’s religion. His lack of principle is what worries me.
Better than casting my vote for you, CW.
Let’s hold you up against Mitt Romney in the “exemplary lives” category.
It may or may not be true that the majority of tinsel town is left. the left tends to be very vocal to make their numbers seem larger than they are. those not supporting his majesty may just keep their mouths shut lest they experience reverse mccarthyism.
obi recently showed up here for *another* fundraiser (not all bad, he’s really ticking people off they way he messes up traffic on such a regular basis.) in a nieghborhood where the consensus by the residents was everyone else was left/dem. one neighbor called the local romney supporting superpac wanting romney signs to place in her driveway for obi to admire as he went past to his $35K a plate gala. Neighbors came to her, and wanted romeny signs of their own. The superpac ran out of signs to place. One of the neighbors wanting romney signs was the COO of a very major international corporation that is considered a big obama supporter.
“They just don’t have the guts to speak. Walking around Hollywood now is not like it was a year or two ago. You don’t hear anyone publicly defending Obama. What you get mostly is silence and a seeming desire to change the subject.”
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
It’s interesting, in a sick sort of way, to observe the uniform one must wear these days in order to be a motion-picture star hopeful. Apparently one must drink from the cup of everlasting socialism in order to make any career progression. This is both sad and disheartening. I’m sure there are plenty of conservative people who are very creative and who could assemble some movies that would be very powerful and fun and worth seeing but they probably don’t get the bucks that the slimy socialists do. Which also speaks to the left’s “tolerance” of others. They have none. Our way or you get nothing.
Glad that Mr Eastwood is making a statement and as huge fan of his, I am reminded of several lines in his movies that might be apropos. I won’t bore readers here with them as they probably can think of a few themselves.
Thank You Mr Eastwood.

The power of Clint Eastwood endorsing governor Romney isn’t just the name recognition, but also the breaking of the Preference cascade (a topic Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) has developed in the past).
When ordinary people see figures like Clint Eastwood (or even President Clinton, who’s “I’m the only guy in the room who presented three balanced budgets” was a very unsubtle jab at Obama) express support for Governor Romney, then they may no longer feel that they are the only ones who feel that way. More ordinary voters may be comfortable about supporting Governor Romney because of Clint Eastwood than would otherwise have, and if they start speaking up in support of Governor Romney then the preference cascade will have broken and an accelerating wave of people will realize they can support this candidate in the election without fear.
I predict that you will NOT see the left going after Clint because of the endorsement. He is too much of an American icon, and it would likely backfire: 1) People wouldn’t be happy about attacks on Clint, and 2) Clint would not take sliming lying down. You do not want this guy going on talk shows because he’s ticked about Dem smears. If the Dems are smart, they’ll just swallow and move on.
I agree with you there. Clint may have mellowed in respect to his movie themes but I don’t think he’s mellowed if someone tries to attack him personally. I think there’s still a little “Dirty Harry” left in him.
I always knew there was a good chance Obama would kill liberalism; the problem is that he’s coming very close to killing the country while he’s at it. It would be great to see that more Hollywood types — and academics and media types — finally “get it.” One encouraging sign: Full-throated support for O is getting much harder to find among my lefty friends. Whenever I get the chance, I ask them: “Why would you hate poor people and the unemployed so much that you’d vote for this guy again?” The usual answer: silence.
It is unlikely that more will “get it”. I hear and read about the occasional convert but in reality, there is a certain comfort at all different levels associated with national socialism.
First is the moral superiority. Borne of their inescapable hatred of everything Christian. It is fundamental. It is basic. It is also married to the desire to find something “bigger than themselves” that is not Christianity. Thus, the Dianetics BS..the embracing of gays….the acceptance of islam as being “every bit superior to Christianity” while ignoring its destruction of human life and treatment of women, gays and animals, what I thought was the holy trinity of hollywood lefticism.
Then, there’s the snark factor. One cannot be a hollywooder without having some snark against “the man, man”. So…sticking it to “the man” is very important. Being a rebel….even going so far as to have a substance abuse problem is a huge plus for your career…depending also on how cool you are, or aren’t. Alcoholism yields minor points. Pain pills…a stronger score. Hard drugs and multiple trips to rehab…you are a mega-star because you’re such a victim..having to put up with the rigorous shooting schedule and demands of the job. Finally, if you have all the previous PLUS suicide attempts, you are golden and at any/all hollywood functions, you will be mollycoddled and given lots of interview time. After all, you’re a victim. But, you have to be sincere in your blaming it on Bush, Cheney or some other factor like “war”, or “hunger” or similar. Remember, it can never be your fault.
Finally, there’s anger. You just have to have it. It dovetails in with the previous. It doesn’t matter that you have talent. You have to be angry at the world for having so much injustice in it. Doesn’t matter that you made $17 million in your last film. It’s the evil republicans who want to run the elderly over with trains or kick them out of their houses that matters. Just so long as it diverts attention away from your own mega-wealth, which you must pretend to feel guilty about and thus…take a trip to Zimbabwe and hold a couple of starving children and shed a tear for the camera. That way you can also appear on Leno and explain in your own seventh grade English how “ikky” it all is over there and how it’s all the republicans fault yet again.
Also…with the political factions of the left, they don’t get it because of the built-in superiority gene. They all have it and in spite of socialism failing everywhere it’s tried…they feel that when they do it…they’ll do it better than anyone else. Has to do with a socialists’ DNA strand not connecting at some point and preventing the brain from recognizing limits.
Way too much over analysis of the left. My take: They were never weened off diapers. They have a perpetual poopy in the pants psychological syndrome.
What I am looking forward to from Hollywood when Romney is sworn in as our new president January 20, 2013 is the musical refrain of Looney Toons along with a goodbye to leftists offered by Porky Pig,”Th..th..th..th..that’s all, folks!”
You shithead.
LMAO!
What?
No…
“Wabbit season/duck season?”
Puh lease!
Don’t let Eastwood off the hook too easily, Roger. If you recall, beginning in the 90′s Clint made an “artistic” (read “economic”) decision to move his movies culturally and politically leftward. Predictably, the critics loved the new Eastwood, and he received increasingly positive reviews and respect the more he declared an affinity for or allegiance with the left in the culture wars (viz., “Unforgiven”, “Absolute Power”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Gran Torino”).
As it stands today Eastwood has finally been accepted by the Hollywood insiders and chatteratti, and it’s all because they think he’s seen the light and detests cultural and political conservatives. I think it was more a whore’s decision…and no less blameworthy for it.
Clint has a lot to answer for. Let’s let him do it before we start praising him for selling out to the left for a mess of pottage.
Well, Prez Barack Hussein said that Moslems helped build America in his famous apology speech at the U. of Cairo (you remember, when he strong armed Mubarak to allow four leaders of the then illegal Mo-Bro-Hood attend). When Hussein revealed the role of Moslems in American history to me, I wondered, Where are the cowboy movies with Moslems working as blacksmiths, shopkeepers, ranchers and even gunslingers? These movies must be made to teach the populace the true history of the Wild West that has been hidden from us so long. Is Omar Sharif still alive for a starring role? When will Clint direct this important series of flicks?
Yes, he moved left in his movie themes but I think it was lefty influence not avarice or want of popularity with Hollywood types. I think he’s got a soft lefty wife to.
I just can’t be to hard on a guy who for the majority of his life gave us movies that exemplified individual longing for justice. You can’t get more American than that.

After defeat of cybersecurity bill, Obama weighs executive order By Brendan Sasso – 08/04/12

Roger:
What I find so fascinatingly hypocritical about the mainstream Hollywood left is their fixation on the “McCarthy Era” and how actors and writers with ties to the Communist Party were “black-listed” and were unable to work.
Hell, Woody Allen made a movie or two about it.
These self-same liberals who decry what happened to a dozen or so Hollywood Reds in the 1950s, who equate their suffering with the real horrors of the Holocaust or the Bataan Death March, don’t blink an eye at today’s black-listing of actors and writers who happen to be conservative. How many times have we read about actors and writers who are afraid to own up to the fact they voted Republican because they know this director or that director won’t hire them?
Somehow, forcing such people to hide their beliefs away in the political closet, or face life in the unemployment line, is okay. Nothing like what happened to Hollywood in the mid-20th Century.
Somehow, that was different. That was far worse.
Maybe Woody Allen, or Redford, or Penn should make a movie and explain to us Neanderthals how these two forms of political oppression are not the same.
Hollywood has so much money surrounding a very insular internal culture. They can continue to make loathsome films with Anti American themes despite the fact they lose money because they can simply draw from the vast pool of accumulated cash to do so.
This sort of negates the “chicken sandwich appreciation day” effect that movie viewers can have by supporting such efforts as “Act of Valor”; the amount of money being made is actually a pittance in Hollywood. A more general cutting of the purse strings is needed, but it is difficult to strangle the money flow (especially when a lot of it comes from franchises like the current spate of comic book films).
The only other way to get at them is to push the Congress to cahnge the way Hollywood is taxed and force them to do their accounting like the rest of us (how often have you heard that film “x” made millions of dollars at the box office but somehow never posted a profit? end that practice and a lot of Hollywood money would dry up, and with it the ability to finance Gramscian damage to our culture.

The End of an Error
It comes down to this, folks. Keep remembering that Obama was elected by only 30% of registered voters. There was a 58% turnout and of the people who actually voted, 52% voted for Obama. Multiply 0.58 and 0.52 and you get 0.30. Just 30% of registered voters saddled us with Obama. Forget about the polls and just vote.
I’d always hoped that Clint Eastwood was to smart to drink the Cool-Aid. It’s good to see.
