It couldn’t be more obvious why NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg has tout a coup jetted over to Blighty to hobnob with London Mayor Boris Johnson and to seem suddenly interested in London’s CCTV system.  A few days ago Bloomberg was poo-pooing the act of supposed terrorism in Times Square as the handiwork of those violent health care opponents.  You know the ones.

Well, Hizzoner seemed like nitwit number one on that one, so off he went to the UK to burnish his mightily tarnished anti-terror image.

But he’s not alone.  Along with him is our President and Attorney General.  Equally tout a coup they are floating a revision of our Miranda rights with respect to terror suspects.

Do we detect a pattern here? Any handwriting on el wall? This is the administration that has been adamant about not calling Islamic terrorism by its true name, as if the ideology behind our problems didn’t exist and we had no enemy beyond irritated homeowners with overdue mortgage payments.  Will that begin to change?  No sign of that yet, but after more electoral defeats or, worse, an  actual, successful terror attack, even they may have to face reality.  But these folks are so stuck in their reified progressivism it’s hard to say.  Come to think of it, Ft. Hood was “an actual, successful terror attack” and nothing changed. Indeed, the perpetrator’s ideology was denied and hidden.  So we have a right to be skeptical. And disgusted.

Meanwhile, while Bloomberg is checking out video cameras, Russia is playing nuclear footsie with Syria.  Would that have gone on during the Bush Administration, whatever its faults? I have my doubts.  But times have marched quite a ways on.  Why would Putin and Medvedev take Obama seriously?  None of us do. The President’s too busy worrying about Israelis building apartments to be concerned with a nuclear Syria.  Never mind that their ruling Alawites came to power by massacring their own citizens.  They’re just the people to be responsible with U-238.

For the first time I wish the US had a parliamentary system like the UK and Obama could be voted out now. I’d even take Cameron.

    Righto, Roger!

Let’s wish for the top, if we’re hoping for parliament-like changes now. Give me Churchill, Maggie Thatcher, or Ronald Reagan now! How can two great nations like the US an UK produce such lightweights like BHO and Gordon Brown at times like these?

Please, Lord, deliver unto us a Leader–who loves America and freedom, and knows the threats to it when they are right under his very nose to see!

    • K.T.

It’s precisely the ‘lightweights’ that cause these trying times.

One need look no further than Jimmy Carter for the problems in Iran and Afghanistan. He refused to back the Shah which allowed the militant islamics to take control of that country – and lured the USSR into Afghanistan to give them ‘their Viet Nam’ as Carter put it.

Lightweights have lasting consequences – if Carter’s blunders are any indication we are in for a rough ride for many years to come regardless of what happens in Nov or the elections of 2012.

      • ahem

I would go so far as to lay 9/11 on Carter’s doorstep.

        • tbggr

Oh would you genius? Did you forget about the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing. 241 American Troops, murdered. Ronnie Raygun did NOTHING! That’s where the terrorist got the idea we were cowards, and would not respond in a forceful manner to an attack on our country. At least Carter responded with a rescue mission, albeit unsuccessful. Ronnie tucked his tail between his legs, and RAN from Beirut!

          • Kathy Leicester

Typical that rather than engage on the level of history or ideas, you begin by name-calling.

Typical. No wonder your side is losing around the world.

  2. 2. Bill N

Let ‘em have all the U-238 they want. The time they spend trying to make a bomb with that will be well wasted.

    • gene

Well….U-238 can be processed into Pu-239 (think Nagasaki). So, let’s keep all uranium from the bad guys please.

    • eon

Since U-238 is the isotope U-235 (weapon-grade uranium) is refined from, and it’s significantly easier to process it for weapon-grade U-235 than it is to get a similar grade of Pu-239 out of it, I’d say the only safe amount of U-238 in the Syrians’ hands is… none. Ditto for Iran.

      clear ether

      eon

      • wayne

Now, now, eon. I don’t have a problem with the Syrians and Iranians having access to bomb grade Uranium and Plutonium.

As long as that access was via W-88 MIRV’s entering the atmosphere above Damascus, Tehran, Qom, Beshehr, and every other populated area in both countries.

  3. 3. Tex Taylor

I see this one a little differently Roger, though I agree with almost the entire premise of the article.

Now that Syria is bound and determined to become a nuclear power thanks to the Reds, I mean Russia, with a little help from our good buddy Kim Jong Il, let’s see if Obama and company have the stones to offer Israel and the Jews something more than changing AD to CE on the letterhead.

Dollars to donuts Obama fiddles – but the letterhead stays.

  4. 4. PaulM

Ann Coulter has it right: The Administration’s anti-terror policy is: “I hope
    the bomb doesn’t explode.”

  5. 5. Jack

” But these folks are so stuck in their reified progressivism it’s hard to say. Come to think of it, Ft. Hood was “an actual, successful terror attack” and nothing changed. Indeed, the perpetrator’s ideology was denied and hidden. So we have a right to be skeptical. And disgusted.”

It’s not that people aren’t dying, it’s that “real” people aren’t dying.

And see the rest of us as serfs.

    • wayne

And every terrorist attack (denied as to true perpetrator) is just one more excuse for them to target us serfs as the threat to “public order”

… obviously the only “public order” the Liberals are concerned over is their rule over the plantation they are building and how they are so close can taste the thrill of that boot on our necks.

  6. 6. deguello

These three pieces of liberal excrement have begun to smell. It’s only a matter of time before there is a successful man-made disaster;hopefully, right before the november elections. When that happens ,the new reduced-size NY Times agitprop sheets won’t be big enough to sop up the blood these three will have on their hands.Fortunately, it will be “blue” blood ,as the urban imbeciles who voted for this scummy trio, suffer the consequences of their libtardism.

    • Wilpert Aloyisus Gobsmacked

I haven’t voiced this thought before, but since deguello broke the ice for several months now I’ve taken slight comfort in realizing when NY is again hit with a WOT disaster it will be the idiots who thrice voted in Bloomberg who will suffer the most. Tragic? Yes. Ironic? You betcha. He ain’t got a clue.

    • Skydiver

Don’t you love it? The people who destroyed lower Manhattan, murdered 3000 people get to build a “cultural” center on the hollow grounds. Bloomberg – he is a talented man to make money, and I applaud him for that, but as a Manger of New York – he is inept. He rode in on Ruddy’s achievements, who is a real Mayor Of New York. The only reason he is still in, because “others” are even worse. Now, it won’t take him long to get the foot out of his mouth. It will be something else. He has become another “NOMENCLATURA”.

  10. 10. Larry in the Silicon

They will continue on until voted out. They will maneuver to avoid being voted out. When and if voted out, they will blame someone else, probably the voter.

Never will the Islam-deniers (or the Islam-supporters among them) admit that Islam is the problem, as far as ‘lonewolf incidents of smoking engines beneath car hoods’ etc.
As Roger Simon writes, when one ‘amateur’ is successful – and Hassan in Fort Hood was a jihad pro, not an amateur, his identity will be rewritten. Ironically, if he had his way, the Major would have proudly shared his identity.

Therefore, the real enemies in the Dar al-Harb, among the unbelievers, and in the ‘implanted Zionist entity’, are the deniers, who run ahead of the jihadis, saying, ‘No jihadi is coming, no jihadi is coming.’

They are as constitutionally incapable of such a thing as is any other kind of fundamentalist. The U.S. and its citizenry ARE the cause of all the world’s problems, for them. Even these people are not cynically ingenious enough to invent the primary story that Shazad was another mortgage-defaulting victim of the predatory U.S. economy. They just believe it in their DNA. If they did not, they could not possibly believe they could persuade the population of such preposterous things. Their world view really has approached something like a mental disorder, it is so profoundly detached from plainly evident reality.

They will never face it because thy cannot. Their entire worldview and constructed selves would collapse. No, they must simply be defeated by those Americans still sane enough to have a chance of saving us, leaving the deranged Left to mutter and curse to itself how their brilliance and compassion go unappreciated by the unwashed illiterati of the Worst Nation Ever.

Start preparing now for the inevitable nuclear terrorist attack. A mushroom cloud over a major city is the only thing that will wake up the liberals (and even then, I am not sure…perhaps for these libs, to extirpate the “historic American guilt” only complete annihilation of most of our citizens will do).
Mayor Bloomingidiotberg once said “global warming is worse than terrorism”; he is a dhimmi RINO. But what choice did New Yorkers have? In 2004, it was Anthony Weenie, the tax-and-spend socialist, and in 2008 it was Thompson, the criminal-coddling Dinkins era throwback.

The Obama, Holder and Incompetano troika are the 3 stooges of homeland security. Coulter defined their terror policy correctly as “pray the bombs don’t work.”

The Fort Hood shooter was a successful terror attack, but was dismissed as a lone wolf attack by a man suffering from second hand PTSD, not connected at all to jihad. And after that happened, Obama was yukking it up and giving shout-outs at the press conference.

This government WILL NOT protect you from terrorism coming from that-which-must-not-be-named.

    • Skydiver

Well, this accelerated process of “National Degradation” started some time ago, when the academia proclaimed that they know everything, and politicians rushed to oblige them. “Money is no object” approach, abandoning principles for “let’s be nice, shell we?” kind of leadership, and telling the regular people what they would like to hear, rather then truth. Political correctness became the motto of the day, and with that, the nation became a slave. Dumb-ing down of the population is almost complete. Financially illiterate, “gimmy all you have”, and screw the next generation. And most of all, WE are the once who allowed it to happen.

      God help us.

    • Conspiracy Theory

“This government WILL NOT protect you from terrorism coming from that-which-must-not-be-named.”

I’m saddened by the fact that my government has been reduced to these three stooges. I believe we (conservatives, constitutionalists, those with brain cells) will take the government back. I can only hope it will happen before another 911 strike by that-which-must-not-be-named, er, um Islamo-fascism.

My government’s #1 priority is to protect me. They haven’t and can’t. I still wonder how anyone can forget those two buildings crashing down on the heads of innocent civilian citizens. What are those who have forgotten smoking? I am disgusted to think it will take the loss of more people’s lives to get the left to realize what’s going on.

The apologists want to play patty-cake with terrorism throughout the world? It will be their demise. Here’s where I insert something about those who fail to learn from history: Sept 30, 1938; British Prime Minister Chamberlain appeases Hitler at Munich. Sept 3, 1939 – Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Germany. I only wish it didn’t have to happen again. And again, and again, and again…

This time, they may have nukes. It’ll get ugly.

  25. Dear Dr. Bones,

Golly, here is the world’s first (¡and greatest!) yaleodramatist struttin’ his freelordly and kiddiemagisterial stuff again!

As old-fashioned shtyk-in-the-mud critics presented with an utterly unprecedented neoärtform, I ask you, sir, what can the Muses and you and I learn from this morning’s performance? “My object in inquiring is to know,” as the neo-Greek bard hath sagely barded.[1]

Speaking of bards, I fear Ms. Clio and I are distinctly at a disadvantage compared to you and some others of the Nine . All those nervous MacL@@han jokes of mine are but a “defence mechanism” of the sort trick cyclists used to ride on, a way of covering up (whilst drawing attention to) my general cluelessness when it comes to merely visual arts.

Now yaleodrama is by no means an exclusively visual neoärt, but there is far more deference to Appearances in it than I am comfortable with. For example, Kiddiemaster Padschaama here vouchsafes

[A]fter more electoral defeats or, worse, an actual, successful terror attack, even they [the usual demoncratic fiends] may have to face reality. But these folks are so stuck in their reified progressivism, it’s hard to say.

Obviously hopeless as rhetoric or literature, what can that slice of bologna be, if not some sort of stage direction? Or a possibly a cartoon?

Either way, it leaves the present keyboard at a loss.

Perhaps the choreographer and the cartoonist would find themselves equally perplexed, however, to cope with a ganz und gar yaleologische Begriff like “reified progressivism”? Even I can work out that all one absolutely needs for ‘progressivism’ is to borrow a spare bog from our friend Paddy, or mock one up, but once you have your bog in hand, how on G*re’s green earth is one to make it look ‘reified’?

As Miss Parker asked once concerning one of the major Heroes of the selfservative kiddies’ Party an’ Ideology, “How could they tell” a properly reified bog-cum-progressivism from a plain vanilla ditto?

    With a ‘ding’,
    And a ‘dong’,
    And a “Hey, ding-a-ling,”
    Sweet wingnuts love the spring!

  26. 26. chambers

Very cogent observations as usual. All three of these gentlemen are each dealing with disabilities that makes it very hard for them to realistically assess and condemn this type of terror operation.

    1) None of them have military experience or even any
sympathy with the military. President Obama and
Mr. Holder are products of elite law schools and
Mr. Bloomberg is a really, really rich guy. The
idea of a military threat is something that they
simply cannot comprehend. Mr. Obama and Mr. Holder
have given off plenty of hints as well that they
believe the U.S. “deserves” terrorist payback
    for it’s accumulated histocial sins.
    2) The Democratic left and the media (not much of
a difference) have given fuly-accredited “victim
group” status to Muslims in the U.S. because of the
“threat of backlash.” They have also endowed the
different Muslm nationalities in the Mid-East with
victim status because of the U.S. invasion of Iraq
and Israel’s attempts to deal iwth its own terror
threat. One of the accepted conventions is that you
must take accredited victim groups at their own
valuation and must never generalize about their
    motives and actions.
    3) Fighting this kind of terror is a long grinding
job with endless complications. Mr. Obama and Mr.
Holder would much rather go after some ranting
skinhead living in his parents basement and
spouting Nazi slogans than a committed,
    well-financed and increasingly
    well-disciplined group that can strike
    almost anywhere.

I think the three of them have been handed their respective balls and don’t quite know what to do with them.

It is so disgusting to listen to Obama falling all over Hamid Karzai. Karzai..the guy Obama wanted nothing to do with a few months ago??? now he’s gonna build ‘em houses and schools etc..disgusting He can’t help America, but he’s gonna “rebuild” their country…he needs to bring our troops home..home, here!!

New York is just asking for trouble and spitting in the face of the families of the 9/11 vicitms by building the worlds largest mosque by “ground zero”..what a slap.
All of these people will have a lot to answer for. I hope our nation survives their trashing.
Victim status needs to be given to the people of the United Sates, These three men in particular have made us into victims.

  27. 27. Bernie

I wouldn’t be so hard on Mayor Bloomberg. What he probably had in mind in making that inane statement was New Yorkers packing their things in boxes and moving out of the city. So I don’t really blame him. What is evident to me is that the only effective tool to prevent future catastrophes is profiling. In the 1950s there was a lunatic called the mad bomber. He went arount planting pipe bombs in various places. The police didn’t have a clue. They finally consulted a psychiatrist who kept data on such incidents. He told the police he would be looking for an Eastern European, of Catholic faith, working for Con Edison with a grievance of some sort. The profile contained more but I forgot which. In any case the profiling was so accurtate that the police had no trouble identifying the bomber. His name was George Metesky. If profiling is forbidden then the other arrow is the quiver is blind luck which was evident in Times Square.

Bloomberg is “studying” the Brits’ elaborate system of subway cameras, n’est-ce pas ? Doesn’t seem especially relevant to what happened in Times Square. (well, the mayor probably needed a trip…)

  32. Bloomberg, Obama and Holder. Los tres amigos can run for the hills, but they can’t hide. If they try, one way or another Americans who care about the ideals this nation was founded upon will smoke them out. Make them show themselves for the bombastic radical Islamic apologists they are.

Not even the Sunday morning mouthpieces for the Democratic party can provide political cover anymore. They call it an anti-incumbency mood, but they lie like politicians. Today’s electorate is going for the left wing jugular like a fullback goes for the goal line. The old apathetic American electorate has turned on Obama because the Obama administration has turned on America.

Three months into his Presidency, though, with Barack’s approval numbers still sky high, people writing on the best conservative blogs, from Pajamas Media to Hewitt’s Town Hall to Ms. Malkin’s stash of good stories to Fran Porretto’s Eternity Road, were sniffing out the skunk in the House. Predicting not just left wing political disaster, but disaster for the nation. Dr. Victor Hanson wrote some great quotes to this effect, but it’s too late in the evening to track them down. I still haven’t seen my taped version of “24.” Suffice to say, Victor Hanson’s two cents were worth every penny. And Hanson’s pennies are made of gold.

The old apathetic voter has taken its place with the eight-track recorder. Today’s Americans have the mettle of Marines. Last time I looked, Barack’s cage was so rattled he’s come to call fellow Americans who happen to disagree with him politically, “sexual perverts.” Tea Baggers. Have you seen the 40 and 50 year old men and women at the Tea Parties? In your face, Obama. Americans are mad as hatters, and if I were Barack, his stoolies or anybody who smells Democratic, I’d be running for the hills, too. Either that or be retiring so quickly Saul Alinsky be spinning like an Olympic figure skater.

These Obamunists have run the national debt ragged. Tried to nationalize every industry they can get their paws on. Obama’s bowed to every two bit dictator he can clink glasses with overseas. And treated every friend of America like a long lost enemy. These same progressives who used to say that dissent was the highest form of patriotism now whine that dissenters are some form of seditious low life.

If Obama’s counting on apathy to return in 2012, he’s in for a huge surprise. Barack, you’re doing your best to try and put us in the worst financial bind imaginable. Trying to discredit and desecrate the first ten amendments. You nominated a 5’ 3” puppet for the Supreme Court. A summary injustice. You jammed through an ObamaCare bill that’s virtually unrepealable, ruining the world’s best heathcare system with 2,000 pages of viral gobbledygook. And the list of your misdeeds is growing at the the speed of a Michelle frown. You’ve accumulated more Frequent Liar Miles in a year than the Clintons (the entire family) will have accumulated in a lifetime. Your decision to put missile defense on the back burner is as dangerous as it is disgraceful. You say some people make too much money, while the words, “radical Islam” you won’t say at all. Everything that smacks of American tradition you smack down. Anything that smells of Marxism like your idiotic slip-of-the-redistribution-of-wealth tongue remark you embrace like you’re holding a Playboy Bunny. You call the new Arizona Immigration law vile without having read it while you demonstrate a venomous dislike for saluting the American Flag.

Does anybody ever consider what Russian Generals are thinking? “I wonder what Barack’s response would be, comrades, if we decided to vaporize Israel tomorrow? Hah. Hah. Hah.”

Well, Rachel Peepers can tell you. President Obama would grab what they call the “football”; the code books needed to launch a full retaliatory response. And he’d punt.
