I was having trouble embedding YouTube on this site yesterday, but now it has succeeded. I commend to all of you the words of former NYC Mayor Koch (now shown above). Koch is speaking extempore in support of a pro-Israel demonstration in New York today. I hope Senator Schumer will attend, because he too seems in opposition to Obama’s Middle East policy – something quite incredible for such an orthodox Democrat.
According to a report in Politico, the Obama Administration is running around trying to shore up it’s “pro-Israel image” (note: image, not reality) lest their loyal Jewish vote suddenly hemorrhage. Of course, they could do a lot by urging the LA Times to release the tape of Obama with Rashid Khalidi that the Times is sequestering in its safe. But they won’t. I am sure of that.
Speaking of reliable votes, one of the most deeply reactionary (word chosen quite specifically) aspects of our political culture right now is the very concept of the ethnic/religious vote. What a backward idea that is, not to say self-destructive to the very groups that follow the various (most often Democratic) parties so slavishly. They lose all their leverage in the process and, especially in the case of poorer minorities, improvement almost never comes. They have been bought in a very real sense.
Meanwhile, if you’re in the New York area, please attend the rally for Israel outside the Israeli Consulate Sunday at one p. m. EDT. I wish I could be there.
I, too, wish I could be there. I’ve sent a link to your post to everyone I know in the NYC area, and I hope that all your readers will, as well. It’s important to have huge numbers there, especially since the Newspaper of Record will doubtless underestimate them. It will be interesting—in an obnoxious, depressing way—to see where that once decent newspaper places its story about the protest, assuming, which I don’t, that they cover it at all. May the demonstration be the shot heard all the way to the clueless West Wing and the equally ignorant State Department. New Yorkers of the world, unite!

Amazing how everyone seems afraid to speak up. The muslims rulers had 14 centuries to develop the practice of intimidation to the level of a fine art, and most of us had no understanding whatever of this process until 9/11. We still have an awful lot of catch-up to do. We have to learn enough of the Koran to realize that the so-called “religion of peace” (PC running amok) is teaching the duty for every muslim to emulate the prophet Mohammed, who personally beheaded several hundred Jews upon returning to Mecca.
We talk at length about the presumed Muslim “moderates” and refuse to consider their silence. Why don’t speak up if they really disapprove of their “extremist”‘s deeds? Thankfully, a small number of courageous Muslims and former Muslims do, but that is a very small minority indeed. We should remember that the only sensible way to handle bullies is to confront them. They do back off, but in the meantime they manipulate everybody, and that includes the white house, the state department and even the US military! Kudos for Ed Koch for bringing it up and PJTV to echo it. Stop making excuses for those who practice preemptive dhimmitude, starting with the POTUS. If not, more “Major Hassan” will “surprise” us.

Forgot to mention that there is a generous fraction of women within the brave minority of Muslims and former Muslims who have the courage to speak up. It is far more dangerous for them than it is for the rest of us. We should keep that in mind before mindlessly clamming up.
Secretary Gates couldn’t answer this question. In the event of a Jewish attack on Iran, they will have to fly over Iraq. The US considers Iraq a no fly zone, meaning they will shoot down unauthorized aircraft. Will the US forces attack Jewish aircraft in their fly over Iraq? Gates couldn’t answer the question. Is the US providing a shield for Iran? This is one question Obama must answer to and bare its consequences in either direction. He can’t have it both ways.

Koch, Dershowitz, and Marty Peretz, to name just three “pro-Israel” stalwarts, ignored Obama’s 20-year relationship with Rev. Wright, and they shrugged off Obama’s foreign policy advisers:- Brzezinski, Power, Rice, Malley, Kurtzer, and Indyk. It was right in front of them. Now they wake up and smell the coffee. In this case, it may not be “better late than never”. The Obama Addministration has done so much damage, not only to Israel, but Poland, Britain, Czech Republic, Honduras, India, France, and other allies of America, that it may be too late to correct.

This rally tomorrow is a perfect example of information that appeared at the last minute here and on other blogs. And here, it easily gets lost in the shuffle of all the other headlines. I thought it might be helpful to have a way for readers to identify things like this more easily.
Just a thought. I know it’s easy for me to sit in my chair and throw out ideas. I’m not the one cranking out this amazing publication every day. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have created here.

Carol, to be frank, I was informed of this event very late. In fact neither I nor PRM was informed. I found it by accident. That wasn’t too bright of the organizers, considering that Pajamas Media gets vastly more traffic than all their websites combined and multiplied by roughly a hundred (or more) They should have informed us. PJM gets over sixteen million page views a month. I don’t want to embarrass the organizers to say that what they get…. If you want to win, you have know who your friends are and get it together. We’ll take it from there. All suggestions welcome.

You could mail it “bcc” and spread the word exponentially with the click of your mouse.

Yes, I’d like to join the every-gracious Delia and say “thank you,” Mr. Simon, for reporting on this. It’s been frustrating to visit other conservative sites (as well as Jewish orgs) and find nothing on it. How frustrating to have such an important even so poorly organized. Thank you, again, for your ongoing passion and commitment to get the word out about so many matters of importance.
The left is setting Israel up to be the bad guy. The current adminstration is doing the same thing. In the end, Israel will have no choice but to strike first before it is taken out by Chinese and Russian-backed Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, etc.
Part of the scenario is about power and control. iow, The Muslims have gained too much power over the world over the last few decades and they need to be taken down a bit, so Israel will be the patsy. Then, the fight will be between Russia and China and the US and what few Western allies we’ll have. If Israel lights off all of it’s nukes in The Sampson Option scenario, at least half a billion Muslims will be dead within a month or two from starvation, disease and radiation poisoning, all other considerations aside. The resulting WWIII will mop up most of the rest of them. From the pov of the “PTB,” there is even a possibility that it might even take care of that pesky “Jewish problem.”
Now, this little scene that I’ve described isn’t an exact description of what is happening or will happen, but this assessment is pretty close. You’ll probably watch it play out in real time over the next six months to eighteen months. It’ll be this scenario or something very close to it, anyway.
While all of this is going on, of course, the Mossad won’t be sitting around with their thumbs up their butts. Assassination chic. Coming soon to a nation near you.

Demonstrations don’t always have to have the singular purpose of simply influencing the ‘Leaders’ but also can serve a dual and perhaps even larger purpose of opening the eyes of the ‘followers’.
Delia you make a valid point to a degree. I think however, that demonstrations unless massive, have a minimal effect on anyone.
I think speaking out as a unified voice and having prominent people speaking out, is important. I also think that for it to have an impact it needs to be often and loud. And I agree that numbers showing up at events needs to become large (though we already have evidence to see that even when that is the case, the media will downplay it). We are losing the media war and MUST counteract the trend. Is the goal to shift things at the highest level of government? I’d say so. Otherwise, what is the point? I think that part of that process involves educating the public, being a visual and vocal presence, thereby helping to turn the tide of public opinion, opinion that can then express itself to the powers that be. We all have an opportunity every day to find a way to do our part.
The point is that Israel and the Muslim Majority nations in Southwest Asia are unwilling cat’s paws for the major powers. Israel will be placed in a position where it will have to strike first, in order to ensure its own survival. At that point, in the eyes of the media and of left-wing socialists, Israel becomes the ‘villain’ of this set piece. However, as I said previously, using Israel as a cat’s paw is a very dangerous game.
It isn’t just about oil. It isn’t just about killing Muslims or killing Jews. There are other natural resources in Southwest Asia that the US, Russia and China need – or need to access. There are any number of geographic and military choke points in the region, as well. Under the current power and control paradigm, anyone who controls those choke points, controls the world.
China, for example, needs water from the mountains of Tibet and from northern India. Pakistan and Afghanistan also need those waters. It is also constructing a high speed transportation system that will run from the interior of China to the EU, through the CIS and northern parts of Southwest Asia. They plan to run that railway and ‘interstate’ system all the way into Egypt and Africa. They also need to access the oil fields in Russia, near the Black and Caspian Seas.
Depending on which way Turkey jumps, their hyro-electric system can shut off the water to Syria …and Iraq. Yes, they can shut down the Euphrates River system, the same way we shut down the Colorado River.
Russia has already limited the amount of gas and oil coming through it’s territories to the EU, and at other times, has threatened to shut it down completely.
Thee are a number of other issues to consider, besides ideological, knee-jerk reactions, including the possibility that your knee-jerk reactions are being manipulated by governments and power mongers around the world.
These factors are on top of everything else that’s going on around Israel…and the Russians and the Chinese don’t want to abandon their already hefty investments in these projects.

Warren maybe correct and there are forces beyond our control setting us up for WWIII, but I’m old enough to have been warned many times about WWIII and it hasn’t happened yet. I haven’t seen black helicopters, no FEMA camps and the UN nor the Russians have ever invaded, though we have been warned many times.
And Delia has warned us many times about how inherently evil Islam is, she too maybe right. Still being of a certain age and a minor reader of history I have seen inherently evil peoples come and go. Just some examples: Native Americans, the British, African Americans, Catholics, the Irish, the Italians, the Germans, the Japanese, the Russians, the Chinese, the Arabs (the oil embargo), the Japanese again (Rising Sun, they will out produce us and buy the whole country), the Chinese again (see Japanese again) and so we come to the latest menace, Arabs and Muslims. You guys maybe be right, I just don’t think exterminating whole groups of people is the way to go, can I get an Amen?
As to a American Jewish backlash against Obama and the Democrats, I’ll believe it when the midterm elections prove it. Obama maybe crazy but he isn’t stupid and there is no quicker way to political irrelevance in this country than attacking Israel, ask Cynthia McKinney.
I remember reading somewhere that the Jewish percentage of the US population is in the 2% to 3% range. As I remember, Obama’s winning share of the popular vote was in the 53% to 47% range. So if in the next presidential election most US Jews vote against Obama, it’s going to hurt a lot …
The Jewish population in the United States falls just below 2%.
If you consider the number of Repubicans who stayed at home and didn’t vote in 2008, you will also see that this is a group that could also turn an election around.
The same goes for other groups, such as Catholics who support/ed Obama.
And I also puzzle over why blacks are let off the hook on this one. It seems patronizing to assume that because Obama is (1/2) black that of course blacks will forever support him? But why? I expect my fellow countrymen of all colors to stand for freedom, to defend our Constitution, to care about the bane anti-Semitism, etc.
So, in my view, if you want to carve Americans up into groups, any single group as the power to turn things around, not just Jews (though Jews obviously should have a very personal interest in some aspects of this).
Abbas has been invited to the White House to meet with Obama. Are any bets being offered as to whether there will be photo ops, or if Abbas will have to sneak in and out of the White House by the back door or the garbage disposal area?

Normally I would not wish hard times or a tyrannical anti Jewish leadership on any Jewish Community, much less the American Jewish Community where I grew up. But something has to wake up the American Jews before it is too late, and the expose of Barack Hussein Obama as the guardian of the Moslems and the oppressor of Israel that he is might just be what it takes. American Jewish college students are already afraid to express their Jewishness or support for Israel on many college campuses, and I suppose the next step will be to extend that fear to their parents who will soon be afraid to publicly adopt any signs of Jewishness or support for Israel.
Barack Hussein Obama may just succeed where every other mainstream Jewish organization has failed, ie, to finally and irrevocably split the majority of American Jews away from their heretofore knee jerk ballot and financial support of the now ultra Left anti Israel Democratic Party. Dave, you’ve posted a sentiment I see a lot on this and other sites. And perhaps your eye on the future is accurate. But you may want to realize that there are Jews waking up. Koch, Dershowitz and others are an example. Robin of Berkeley over at the AT site is another. There are also other blogs by Jews who used to be liberal Dems and who are now conseravative. As I’m sure you know, there were recently full page ads taken out in major media shining a light on the administrations treatment of Israel. And there’s me. I have to assume there are many others. Will there be enough? I don’t know. Is it too late? I don’t know. But something is happening and it should not be discounted. For you and those like you who write off the majority of Jews in America as knee-jerk Dems, perhaps you’re assumption about that will prove to be knee-jerk, as well.

Wow, Roger. Wish I had the money to take a few years off and start a blog or a Jewish PJM but unfortunately not able to do it. Actually, not passive at all. I was never a leftie Jew who became right. Not sure when you first voted Republican or even if you are a registered Republican. But my guess would be around 2000. I on the other hand actually saw the light during the Carter administration, although I didn’t vote for him and changed my registration in 1980.

Mr. Simon, I agree that we must all carry the message forward. And, to promoguy I would say that there’s a lot in between doing nothing and starting a major blog. It sounds like you have tried hard to convince family members, to no avail. That is incredibly frustrating. Perhaps there are others you can focus on and/or perhaps you may want to rethink your approach with them. Support good organizations that are fighting the fight on the front lines every day. Be a voice in support of Jews and Israel at blogs all over the Internet. Write letters to the editor. Get involved with political campaigns of candidates you believe in (hard to find these days, I admit). If you’re a member of a synagogue, talk to the Rabbi and/or others there to see how you can spread the word. Help wake up those who are sleeping and help those who are awake to stay awake and intensify their efforts. There’s a lot to do. Feeling discouraging and predicting more of the same is easy to do. Hang in there. Sometimes it’s easier to feel discouraged than to allow oneself to believe what one hopes for the most and risk disappointment. Let’s take action and make our hope become reality.

Suddenly, out of the blue, two or so days later, much to my surprise, Ed Koch came out with the very first of several strong statements he’s made up to now against Obama’s actions toward Israel, and soon after that, other prominent Jewish Dems followed suit, most recently, as we know, even Chuck Schumer.
It’s probably coincidence, but I like to think my post may have triggered Koch’s move. Did you perhaps alert Ed Koch to my comment?
Explain what is happening? What can I say? Some Jews are shifting their views. Others, not so much. I think we all have to work relentlessly to help that shift happen as fast as we can. I see no point in pessimistic pronouncements. It does nothing to advance our interests.
Schumer is only making these statements because he feels threatened by the Tea Party and those Jews whose eyes have now been opened. In the end though, he will parrot the Obama line because he fears the loss of black and far left Jewish votes than moderate and conservative Jewish votes.

Maybe, maybe not. But absent a staging area much closer to Iran, an Israeli strike will be far less effective. Even a single sortie will be exhausting for the crews. There will be no quick turnarounds. Iran will be on full alert. And there simply won’t be the resources to take out critical IRGC sites or conventional (e.g. naval and missile) sites, thus allowing Iran both to retaliate and to take action to close off the Straits.
The Saudis will preserve deniability, thus allowing them to blast Israel for their “aggression”. In the meantime, the US will set a high price to be paid in Israeli coin for their “recklessness”. All because the US and the West were too feckless to stop Iran.

Koch has made a career as did Moynihan of being the Democrat who calls out other Democrats on their vicious hard left ways. Obama’s pretty close to that ‘stop’ line right now, though he still has two years to correct that problem, and I’m under no illusion that if the Jewish vote for the 2012 Republican presidential nominee doubles or triples from McCain’s 2008 total that it’s anything more than just a strategic move, and those same soft-liberal Jewish voters will go back to pulling the ‘D’ lever once they think everything’s OK again.
