After I saw what an execrable creep Rick Sanchez was in his sleazy/braindead treatment of Joe the Plumber, I wasn’t the slightest surprised when I read Sanchez’s history. That CNN – what a company,

Not much question who’s the better man – Joe or Rick – at least in my view.

Maybe getting away with a drunken driving/leaving the scene accident is why Sanchez is so arrogant. He seems to think that anyone who disagrees with him on any subject is a fool, and it comes across in his style and actions on air. I think he’s probably one of the poster children for “media elite” and out of touch with the real world.

  2. 2. A. N. Pierson

Sanchez also comes off as just plain stupid.

  3. 3. Phineas

Arrogant … stupid. Yep. Sanchez fits right in with CNN>

  4. Aren’t the people who dismiss Joe as a non-journalist the same folks who regard Al Gore as a professional climatologist?

  5. 5. Godzilla

CNN is getting wackily pathetic if anchors like Sanchez are the norm there. What a sleazebag (referring to his hit and run incident). And his tirade against Joe was the epitome of unprofessionalism, at the worst possible moment, given the point he was trying to make. Cluelessly unaware that his adhominem attack on Joe looked very churlish. And from the setting of a national newsdesk.

Israel version of Saturday Night Live satirizes BBC terrorist-enabling coverage of the Gaza conflict: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcBWOI5CW_8&eurl=http://cgis.jpost.com/Blogs/must/entry/the_on_line_battle_part

Very interesting first hand account from an Israeli soldier of ground fighting w/in Gaza. He talks about the unfathomable mentality of the Gaza Arabs, including the Jihadi indoctrinated “innocent” civilians, who choose to remain in the booby trapped houses & schools. He also describes the tunnels beneath the kitchen sinks in the civilian’s homes designed to grab a soldier & kidnap him.

Apparently, Joe , hit a nerve of Sanchez, doing something he cannot do, say and show real truth and feeling about people and when Joe felt he was wrong, admit it and appoligize, etc.. Mr. Sanchez uses his position to sprew out ignorance and hate, what is the basis of Hamas and their fight against all freedom as we see it. CNN will never be able to erase their image of one sided reporting because that is what they continually hire as their Media reporters and thus, we must all take it for what it represents, bias reporting by Sanchez and his ilk.

Quit picking on Sanchez. He did nothing wrong.

    Ted Kennedy

How dare a member of the proletariat assail the citadel of mighty media. Doesn’t he know his place in the pecking order of society? The chosen elite (a la Sanchez or the ladies of The View) should obliterate any upstart prole (a la Joe or Sarah)who dares lead a revolt against the received order. If Joe’s insult is allow to gain legitimacy, who knows where this will lead. Some might have the nerve to even think the lower orders are our equal. The nerve!

  10. 10. jedrury

This is highly revealing about Sanchez.
We should know a lot more about these talking heads/newsreaders; they should post the dirty laundry on the web so we all know.
Next time he talks to Joe, Joe should ask him about the accident in Florida.

“Hey. Rick, the victim’s family has contacted Nancy Grace and will you answering questions?”

That shut the weasel up fact !!

It is estimated that perhaps 15% of MSM professionals are conservative. Of this small total—many of these individuals must hide their dissent of the majority’s ideological doctrines. Can anyone imagine a conservative journalist’s career, especially if they were up and front about their conservatism, surviving a hit and run scandal? They would have to become a used care salesman or mug old ladies on the street to earn a living.

  12. 12. Crusader

    Here’s a thought experiment:

If Joe is an irrelevant rube, why the vicious attack? Logically, it means the MSM feel threatened by PJTV.

  13. 13. JH Spyker

Yeah, Plumber Boy is the problem here.

Has he broken a story yet?

  14. 14. tim maguire

Is Joe the problem, Spyker? I thought certain elements of the media, so terrified of competition from a “non-journalist” that they can’t wait to see if he succeeds or fails, but must rather pre-emptively attack him for not living up to their standards, were the problem?

Not that I blame them. If it turns out that this uncredentialed rube can do their job as well or better than they can, then, well, how many nails to do you put in a coffin before it’s done, anyway?

  15. 15. Godzilla

Yeah, Plumber Boy is the problem here.

Has he broken a story yet?

Indirectly he has. The story is called: Annals of the media: Sanchez vs. Wurzelbacher.

The other story he broke had to do with the fact that the Gazans are tearing up their infrastructure to make their rocket bombs. That’s quite a story, reflecting directly on the moralities and priorities of the Palestinian people as a whole. Disgusting.

And another story is shaping up, though it will take a while before it reshapes the political landscape (which it will). The Democratic Party is increasingly looking like a party that requires people to have ‘credentials’ in order to be taken seriously. In the world of business, computer technology, science, etc. this sort of litmus test is probably a good thing, but in Politics? Sorry, everyone has a right to voice their opinion…everyone, not just the ‘annointed’. A party of elites is doomed to fail.

  16. 16. Marriu

You, Roger and Joe, are NOT AT ALL convincing to skeptical moderates like me. You are just reassuring me that my vote for Obama was the better one. This pathetic interview will not win over voters like me. Wow, was that bad!!

  17. 17. Golem

It looks like a lot of people have gotten a Dirty Sanchez from Rick.

(OK. So that wasn’t very original. Oh, well.)

  18. 18. J.J. Sefton

Whatever merits Joe the Plumber may or may not have as a reporter, he is first and foremost in my view (and I think a lot of people) a regular, decent guy.

Sanchez is a demagogue and a buffoon. A left-wing joker who parrots the party line. Probably doesn’t even know or believe half the stuff he recites but is just doing it for the money.

    Simply detestable.

  19. 19. Ralph Woods

Never heard of Sanchez before, but then I am one of the fortunates that has been able to avoid CNN. Joe the Plumber is doing OK for a beginner. He needs to stand in a hurricane to show how brave he is. Like little Danny Rather did early in his career to get some street creds.

  20. 20. Ed

I agree with Marriu in that Joe’s “pieces” are designed to attack your and his political enemies not persuade them or any of us in the middle that your position is more valid. As for Rick Sanchez a real piece of cable news shit, but so is Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and sometimes Keith Olbermann, so pick your poison.

  21. 21. Morowbie Jukes

When he returns from the Middle East, have Joe the Plumber interview the family of the man who succumbed from auto accident injuries caused by the drunken-driving Sanchez. Interview any officers, investigators and witnesses from that incident as well. Once these interviews are conducted and aired, PJTV reporters should accost Sanchez and shove microphones in his face and ask him, among other hard-hitting questions, how he felt about ruining that man’s life.

  22. 22. Chris S.

I’ll preface my comments with this qualifier:

I am not advocating that politicians, the courts, or even “citizens groups” start punishing “bad journalism”.

However, a big reason why “credentials”/certification/degrees/licenses don’t REALLY matter in practicing journalism is that, for the most part, there is no real accountability in journalism.

If a bridge collapses, a construction or engineering firm can be held accountable.

If a physician or surgeon screws up, they can be sued.

But if a >journalist< screws up, (e.g. either Eason Jordan’s CNN prewar coverage of Iraq or the New York Times’ Walter Duranty during Stalin’s 1930s Holodor in the Ukraine), there is little to no accountability. (And Duranty still has his Pulitzer Prize)

It is for that reason that “credentials” or “certification” do not (or should not) apply to journalism- anyone really CAN be a “journalist”.

  23. 23. Chris S.

“As for Rick Sanchez a real piece of cable news shit, but so is Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and sometimes Keith Olbermann, so pick your poison”

“Sometimes” Keith Obermann?? Just “once in a while”??

Your point is otherwise taken that Sanchez is just a buffoon like Hannity and O’Reilly, but perhaps CNN should stop pretending he’s anything more than a buffoon and give him his own show, like: “The Sanchez Factor”, “The Sanchez File”, “Sanchez’s America”, or “Countdown with Rick Sanchez” . . .
