I review three more movies — Finding Neverland, Million Dollar Baby and The Motorcycle Diaries — for NRO. [Will you have any friends left?-ed. Yeah. You. Not so fast.]
UPDATE: Apropos my reviews on NRO today and a couple of weeks ago, Roger Friedman writes of the poor audience reception of some of this year’s critically well-received movies (scroll down).

There are friends in Hollywood? “Yeah, but mom, what have you done for me lately…?”
Apropos of nothing, I listened to what (to me, anyway) was a fascinating interview with Ray Bradbury talking about how he channeled Melville for the adaptation of Moby Dick. It’s here under the link entitled “He Rises.”
Che Schicklgruber?
Maybe it is time for Hollywood to stop the practice of releasing Oscar contenders the last month of the year as a strategy for getting nominations. The biggest problem with these movies may just be that they are not holiday movies and the public wants to see heart warming ìFamily Manî or ìPolar Expressî type movies during the holidays.
I always wait until everything comes out on video so I’m not familiar with alot of these films yet but boy did I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Doesn’t appear to be making any lists at all though.

It’s making mine. I think it was a terrific film and script. Right now it’s at the top of my list for best original screenplay along with The Incredibles.
Well, you know – Enemies A Love Story is also a personal favorite so maybe we have similar taste.
I reveiwed Million Dollar Baby about a week ago and said about the same thing. Only difference: Swank is fucking terrific; better than terrific, marvelous. There is not one false note in as tough a part as I can remember. Also this is a tear jerker, and I never cry. I hope all of you see it, you won’t be sorry. I too keep thinking about it. If all movies were this good I’d be broke and a member of movie goers anonymous.
